Not Smart

Guess Carly Fiorina doesn't believe in National Security.

In an attack ad launched a couple weeks ago, Fiorina ridiculed California Senator Barbara Boxer's belief that climate change is a national security issue as merely being "worried about the weather." Well, dozens of military leaders and I agree with Barbara -- this is about a whole lot more than the weather -- and we have been fighting this fight for years.

I can tell you what's not smart: Taking any chance of allowing Republican challenger Carly Fiorina to defeat Barbara Boxer.

Contribute $5 or more to Barbara Boxer's campaign today! We're just hours from the crucial June 30 midnight fundraising deadline.

One of the true champions fighting against climate change and fighting for a clean energy economy is Barbara Boxer.

Barbara knows the potentially catastrophic consequences of changing climate patterns and rising sea levels. She understands the need to end our dependence on oil from nations that are certainly not our allies. And she's smart enough to know this isn't just about the weather.

That's why we need to help her now -- to make sure Barbara has the resources to defend herself from millions of dollars worth of Carly Fiorina's attack ads.

The June 30 fundraising deadline is the most important one of the entire campaign. Please contribute $5 or more to Barbara Boxer's campaign before midnight tonight!

Carly Fiorina attacking anyone on national security is mystifying to me. Here's why:

During Fiorina's failed tenure as Hewlett-Packard's CEO, HP sold printers to third parties in an effort to skirt US laws banning trade with Iran.

I'd like to say this wasn't smart, but it's much worse than that. It was reckless.

We simply cannot allow Carly Fiorina and the millions of dollars she collected after being fired from HP to defeat Barbara Boxer.

Please contribute $5 or more to Barbara Boxer's campaign before the June 30 deadline tonight!

There aren't any states bigger or more expensive than California, so please dig deep and help Barbara today!

Thank you for everything!

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

Going on Offense

Everyone says the Democrats are playing defense this year. Well, I'm going on offense.

That's why I was just out in Missouri's 8th Congressional District campaigning with Tommy Sowers.

I wrote to you in December about Tommy, a Green Beret and Iraq war veteran. A political outsider, he's exactly the type of candidate voters are looking for, especially running against an opponent who is not only raking it in from Washington lobbyists but is a former lobbyist herself!

I told Tommy in person that the Clark community and I would help him win. Join me and contribute $5 or more to Tommy's campaign before next week's crucial June 30 fundraising deadline!

One of the first groups to support Tommy was Clark supporters like you. Now the DCCC has joined us, adding Tommy to their "Red to Blue" list of top takeover targets across the country.

We've shown them that with a strong candidate and strong supporters, we can beat Republicans on their home turf. For years now we've been taking the fight to tough races -- and winning them.

Now, Tommy's opponent is getting desperate, and well, she's gone down a shameful route. She has attacked Tommy's 11-year career as a Special Forces officer, and we can expect more of that all the way until November.

Help Tommy fight back against the attacks on his military service. Please contribute $5 or more to Tommy Sowers' campaign today!

Riding around with Tommy in his truck, I have to say that Tommy's one of the strongest candidates I've seen, and a perfect Democratic match for this "red" district. But he can't do this on his own.

His opponent raised almost 50% of her money last quarter from PACs! And those special interests are getting their money's worth.

She's voted for trade deals that sent jobs American jobs overseas. She's voted to protect the corporate special interests over the interests of the American families.

She's the kind of politician that voters are done with. Tommy's proven his integrity, toughness, and skill, from Kosovo to Iraq. He's new blood that will turn things around for his district -- the eighth poorest congressional district in the country.

Please contribute $5 or more to Tommy before the June 30 fundraising deadline!

Tommy is fighting hard in the race, and he'll fight hard once he's in Congress to get the country back where it needs to be. This fundraising report will be the most important of the campaign. Contribute today!

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

Shocked

Last night, the political establishment was shocked.

Congressman Joe Sestak defeated five-term U.S. Senator Arlen Specter in the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.

It was a tough, bruising campaign, and now Joe has to refill his campaign war chest for an even tougher test. He has to defeat far-right-wing Republican Pat Toomey.

The Clark community helped elect Joe to the House in 2006. I need you to now help elect Joe to the U.S. Senate. Contribute to Joe Sestak's campaign today!

Anyone who knows anything about Joe Sestak's amazing career, from Navy Admiral to winning Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional district in 2006, wasn't shocked last night.

And since joining Congress, Joe has been an advocate for our values. In the past year, he's voted for the American Clean Energy and Security Act and the historic health care reform bill. He has also been an outspoken critic of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," signing on as a co-sponsor to repeal DADT.

Make sure Joe Sestak continues to have a voice in Congress. Contribute to his Senate campaign today!

Now, voting FOR Joe would be enough, but let me tell you something about his opponent.

Pat Toomey is extreme.

He wants to outlaw a woman's right to choose, and he's already said he'd work to repeal the health care reform bill, denying millions access to affordable health care. Instead, he's focused on helping the corporate special interests that are funding his campaign.

America simply cannot afford Pat Toomey in the U.S. Senate.

Help Joe Sestak defeat Pat Toomey. Contribute to his campaign today!

The experts keep saying this is going to be a bad election year for Democrats. Help Joe Sestak prove them wrong by contributing to him today.

Thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

What Palin wants

I know sometimes it's not obvious what's going on in Sarah Palin's mind.

Well, last week's passage of the historic health care reform bill provided her some clarity. Immediately after President Obama signed the bill, Palin asked her radical supporters to "target" 20 Democrats, complete with crosshairs taking aim at each of them.

Two of them our Clark community helped elect: Rep. Betsy Markey (CO-04) and Rep. Chris Carney (PA-10). When called upon, they stood up courageously and voted for reform. Now Sarah Palin and the right wing have targeted them for defeat.

Don't let Sarah Palin and the tea party extremists win. Contribute to Betsy and Chris' campaigns before tonight's end-of-quarter deadline!

Let me tell you something about Betsy Markey: She's tough.

In 2008, Betsy's district, Colorado's 4th, voted for John McCain over Barack Obama.

But she wasn't afraid to stand up to the special interests and vote for the energy bill last year. She wasn't afraid to vote for health care reform, even while the media and pundits said it would cost Betsy her seat in Congress.

This fall, Betsy's toughness will be tested. Her opponent has raised over $75,000 from those who want to repeal the health care bill. And, of course, Sarah Palin is going after Betsy too.

We can't let the extremists win. Join me and contribute $5 or more to Betsy Markey's campaign before the midnight fundraising deadline!

In 2006, the Clark community helped elect a new generation of veterans into Congress. Chris Carney was one of them.

Since joining Congress, Chris has been a strong advocate for veterans. He's worked to expand veterans' access to health care and to ensure more is done to treat returning soldiers with PTSD.

And just last week, Chris voted to pass the historic health care reform bill. Contrast this to his opponents, who want to repeal the bill if elected, and strip 32 million Americans of access to health care.

Pennsylvania's 10th district has a partisan voting index (PVI) of R+8 and was also carried by John McCain. Sarah Palin and the tea party extremists believe they can use his vote on health care reform to defeat Chris.

You and I can prove them wrong. Contribute $5 or more to Chris Carney's campaign before tonight's fundraising deadline!

This is a crucial fundraising report. The pundits, the media, and our opponents will look to see whether the passage of historic health care reform has strengthened or weakened Democrats.

You can be the difference by donating to Betsy and Chris today.

Thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

Webb-Allen 2.0

Almost four years ago to the day, I threw my unwavering support behind a passionate, thoughtful veteran in the middle of a close, competitive primary.

His name was Jim Webb -- now Senator Jim Webb of Virginia.

Today, I'm compelled to enter the fray once more, and throw my full support behind Cal Cunningham for North Carolina's Senate seat.

This is another key pick-up opportunity in a southern "swing state," and Cal is beyond a doubt the best candidate to take on Richard Burr this November.

Contribute to Cal Cunningham's campaign -- before the May primary and before his crucial end-of-quarter fundraising deadline this Wednesday.

Cal would be the first veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to serve in the U.S. Senate. He would bring a veteran's unique perspective to policymaking in Washington.

Cal has seen war and understands it's time to "Conclude the Mission in Iraq. With Honor. Period."

Cal knows sexual orientation plays no role on the battlefield, and that it's time to end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Cal knows first-hand why we must break our "destructive dependence on foreign oil from unfriendly regimes," and he recognizes that climate change poses a critical threat to our national security.

Cal will fight for veterans and honor their sacrifices.

On all these issues, and so many more, Richard Burr is at odds with Cal -- and at odds with his constituents.

Threat

When it comes to clean energy and climate change, it is time for the United States to act.

We currently send $1 billion a day in oil money overseas. This dependence on foreign oil not only threatens our economy and the health of our planet, but also our national security.

The longer we maintain our foreign oil dependence, the more we continue to place our future in others' hands. That is why, today, we are joining with dozens of organizations, representing millions of Americans, calling on the U.S. Senate to pass legislation that will secure our nation and put us on a path towards energy independence.

Stand up for our security by contacting your senators TODAY and demand the Senate passes clean energy and climate legislation!

If we allow global warming to continue, we risk increased natural disasters, shifts in agricultural production, and drastic changes in climate patterns, all of which will require manpower and vast economic resources that could be better focused on other areas of concern.

Our future national security will be impacted by how much we develop our own clean energy and climate change legislation.

A Rare Breed

They don't send Green Berets on easy missions. So when I heard Tommy Sowers -- an 11-year Army officer who served as a Combat Engineer, Airborne Ranger, and Green Beret -- was running for Congress, I knew I had to help.

Tommy is a rare breed of leader, a warrior and scholar whose desire to serve is complemented with honor, courage, and intellect. But that won't be enough to win in Missouri's 8th district, where he faces a 13-year incumbent who is bankrolled by the corporate special interests.

Tommy needs your help.

Please donate $5 or more to Tommy's campaign today!

Tommy left his promising career in the Army this summer and returned to Missouri take on this new fight -- to serve his home in Congress. Seeing the deteriorating condition of the area where generations of his family have lived, he knew this is something that has to happen now.

During his deployments -- once in Kosovo and twice in Iraq -- Tommy was sent to places where the people had no hope, and he was tasked with achieving things that people said could not be done.

Again, there are no easy missions for Green Berets, and this challenge is no different.

Help Tommy and me bring hope to Missouri's 8th district. Contribute $5 or more to his campaign today!

Missouri's 8th is an expansive district that encompasses the entire southeastern corner of the state. There you see the worst problems befalling rural America: a disappearing manufacturing base, worsening access to health care, and a vanishing way of life that once helped these small communities thrive.

There are nearly 70,000 veterans in the district, and they feel that there is nothing to keep their children and grandchildren in the communities where they grew up. Tommy needs your help to bring a better future to southeastern Missouri.

Tommy's opponent is a special-interest-fueled former lobbyist. He needs your help to level the playing field and fight in the U.S. House to bring economic opportunity back to his home.

Please donate $5 or more to Tommy's campaign today!

At a time when the number of veterans in Congress is at its lowest point since World War II, we need to come together to put more common sense leaders like Tommy in Congress to help get this country back on track.

Gratefully,

Wes Clark

The Importance of Tuesday

This Tuesday is going to be a very important day. Voters will head to polling sites throughout the country -- but there's one race in particular that I'd like to draw your attention to, a race the Republicans want to use as a referendum on Barack Obama's presidency.

That race is the special election in New York's 23rd Congressional District.

The Democratic candidate, Bill Owens, has devoted his life to creating jobs and developing Upstate New York's economy, helping to bring over 2,000 jobs to the region. He is also a veteran, having nobly served our country as a Captain at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base. He is exactly the sort of person we need working for us in Congress.

Help me elect another veteran to Congress. Contribute to Bill Owen's campaign today!

Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman's entry into the race has mobilized those who want to damage President Obama and his progressive agenda. Radical tea party activists from across the country have come to New York to volunteer for Hoffman's campaign, seeing the race's outcome as a first electoral test of their movement's strength.

Hoffman has even been endorsed by the conservative Club for Growth, Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson, and Dick Armey -- and they are all working overtime to ensure a conservative victory.

While Doug Hoffman's campaign has been fueled by right-wing tea party leaders, Bill's has been fueled by everyday New Yorkers who recognize Bill's ability to drive economic revitalization within the region.

Help us send a powerful message to the country about the support for progressive values -- contribute to Bill Owen's campaign before Tuesday's election!

Whoever gets the most votes Tuesday will win the seat. There are three candidates in the race, and with the low turnout in special elections, every vote is that much more important.

A recent poll gives Bill a slight lead in the race, but this is a swing district that narrowly voted for President Obama. We still need to do everything we can to ensure a Democratic victory.

Please contribute to Bill in these final days before the special election.

Join me, and scores of others, including Vice President Biden and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, in supporting Bill Owens in this important House race. With the election just days away, we need to act quickly to ensure a Democratic victory!

You have done so much to elect new leaders to Congress, especially veterans. Thank you for everything.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

P.S. This important election is just a few days away. Help us ensure a Democratic victory, and the defeat of a right-wing activist by contributing to Bill Owen's campaign today.
