Education:

The key to strong public schools in Arkansas is a stronger commitment from Congress. This includes attracting and retaining the best teachers, smaller class sizes and more technology in the classroom. We also must do more in public schools to instill our Arkansas values in the classroom. That's why I support character education being taught in every public school classroom.

Social Security:

I am against any form of privatization of Social Security and will fight the Washington politicians who continue to raid the Social Security Trust Fund to pay for pet projects.

Medicare:

The current medicare plans are skewed heavily in favor of the drug manufacturers and insurance providers. What happened to taking care of our senior citizens and small pharmacies and business owners?

I will propose legislation that gives seniors a choice – a real choice. We must ensure that the plans we present to our seniors represent the best we have to offer in terms of selection, price, and service.

I will work with the plan providers and benefit managers to bring into line payments to the pharmacies and business owners. I think it is tragic that many pharmacies are shutting down or taking out loans just to makes end meet. They deserve better than this, and I will help.

War in Iraq:

I believe it’s time to bring our troops back home. We must send a clear message to the Iraqi government that we have no intention of maintaining the force at the current level. We must begin our reduction and do it methodically to ensure the safety of the troops who remain behind.

Values:

I am pro-life, support traditional marriage and support the 2nd Amendment.

Veterans:

I strongly oppose any and all healthcare cuts for our military men and women. Veterans deserve the finest healthcare available which is why I would like to see veterans receive the same healthcare benefits as the members of Congress. We can achieve this goal by creating a strategic partnership between the VA and the existing healthcare system.
