Zack Bazzi Deploying to Afghanistan tomorrow

Ilona posted a diary at Kos about Zack's deployment this afternoon:

Since Zack has been one of our guest bloggers, it would be nice to have lots of CCNer's wishing him well over there.

Holy 2008, Batman!

In light of the recent post about Wes Clark as The Anti-Poverty Candidate, I was struck by an announcement of a conference planned by Sojourners with this declared goal:

We hope to do nothing less than put poverty on the national agenda, and challenge candidates from both parties to present the nation with their plans for dramatic poverty reduction both at home and globally.

The Little Inkjet that Could

Once upon a time. . . in the days before Clark04, I got a little color inkjet printer to use with my computer at home.

The little printer was proud and shiny and made lovely colored printouts. It could even make copies! How pleased I was to have this handy little device. It was not a very speedy machine, but for the few things I needed to print and copy, it was just perfect. And it didn’t take up too much space on my desk.

The Long Journey Home

I found this article today about the Polytrauma Rehab Center for injured troops in Tampa, Florida. Among the patients featured is Jose Pequeno, who graced our Troops & Vets series in Bring Jose Home. I’ve been trying to follow his progress and thought some of you might want to have an update as well.

Rudy Giuliani Is Not A Hero. Wes Clark? Different Story.

Short, sweet and to the point, this Huffington Post blog, by James Boyce. concludes:

One man talks the talk.

Another man walks the walk.

Your call America.

Ms. Sekula-Gibbs Goes to Washington - just too funny

Ms. Sekula-Gibbs Goes to Washington
or, as captured by Wonkette: Corrupt Texas Rep. Temporarily Replaced by Crazy Texas Rep

I started following this story at Texas DU and it kept getting better and better. . . laugh out loud kind of stuff :-))

Shelley Sekula-Gibbs was the write-in Republican candidate defeated by Nick Lampson for Tom DeLay's old seat in Congress. However, there was a simultaneous election to fill the last few weeks of DeLay's term. Lampson didn't run in that special election, which was called as a last resort kind of tactic by Rep. Gov. Rick Perry, who refused to hold a special election earlier in the term when it would have made some sense. So Sekula-Gibbs won the office for the remainder of the current session - at a considerable cost to taxpayers.
