Wesley Clark

Vibrant, illuminating, and sporting an eye-catching early summer tan, General Clark spoke of just about everything of real importance in the world today to a group of around 300 students (and a handful of us older folks) at Stanford University last night.

I am pretty upset--getting it all back together again feels like Humpty Dumpty to me right now.

(second post of cartoon)

I found it difficult to reconcile the perceptions of those who swear that they see Barack Obama on the fast track and bounding up the steps to eminence and those who see him as simply spinning in endless circles devoid of meaningful content. Then I remembered the famous stair-step illusion that seems to satisfy both viewpoints.
NARAL's Bad Choice

Democratic politics

On May 14th, the national leadership of NARAL(National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws Pro-Choice America) under the Presidency of NANCY KEENAN, made the stinging decision to endorse Senator Barack Obama for President. The state affiliates were not allowed to participate in this myopic decision, which tells us something about how NARAL does its business.
The thinking behind this endorsement is a miscarriage of reason on at least three counts:

Feel frustrated about Michigan and Florida and want to DO something that the DNC cannot help but notice? A group has set up a very clever project—you can see details here.

Send a pair of shoes to the DNC or gather up a bunch. Include your own message, respectfully asking the DNC to pay attention to us regular people.

First it was that posh San Francisco fundraiser. Obama asserted that small town people are bitter, and that is what turns them to guns, religion, and racial prejudice. “Poor choice of words,” the Man of Words tried to explain, but few bought it. http://abcnews.go.com/WN/story?id=4652934&page=1

Originally posted at NoQuarter ( http://noquarterusa.net/blog/2008/04/19/rove%e2%80%99s-sweet-dream/) I remain concerned about Barack Obama's ability to stand up to the GOP attack machine if he gets the nomination.

Note: I am doing the cartoons for the NoQuarter blog under my family nickname (Pat) and my husband's last name (Racimora). I thought some of you here might enjoy them as well.
Here's the story behind the cartoon.
First, Rev. Wright is "family" that Obama could no more disown than he could disown the Black community. The dog just popped into my head as Obama tossed Wright into the cold after he resurfaced with rhetoric that was pretty much the same crazy stuff. I could feel Rove's smile.
Obama: Behavior Unbecoming a Presidential Candidate

Hillary Clinton

New politics? A “Uniter”? Barack Obama says all the “right words.” But are gestures different? You probably wouldn’t think that he would ever be so adolescent, so disrespectful towards a colleague that he would give Hillary Clinton the finger. First, let’s all remember exactly what this gesture stands for in words: “F**K YOU!

Hillary Clinton

Two candidates are left standing on the Democratic ticket. We knowalot about only one of them. Even though Barack Obama is obviously a bright and talented man, we are still trying to learn who he is and what, beyond seeing him “on stage,” he has accomplished that would qualify him for the most difficult job in the world.
