Goodbye for now CCN

As most here already know I'm joining the army, I am leaving very shortly and this will be my last entry here for some time. I wanted to express my gratitude for all those who contribute to CCN. Being part of this movement for the past six years has been a very infomative and enlightening experience. It has helped me to grow as a person and as a citizen, giving insight into many different issues and perspectives that otherwise I would not be aware of. I hope to report back some of my experiences abroad in service of our nation as time constraints and military regulations allow.

Well, I've been predicting it for months, and now the proof has arrived. Kudo's to Mary for the great find.

A Swiss preview of an American tragedy:

Think Switzerland and what comes to mind? Hot Chocolate on a cold winters day, delicious fine European chocolates, sking in the alps, delectable swiss cheese, dependable banks, neutral foreign policy, or the every handy swiss army knife with it's many useful gadgets.

Obama's Folly

In the primaries I was in the tank for Obama even though  Gen. Clark endorsed then Senator Clinton. So what I'm about to say may come as a surprise to some. I was wrong about Barack Obama, dead wrong, not that in retrospect that I'd have voted for Hillary instead, I honestly might have abstained from the whole process. In truth I am disgusted with the Democratic party, and party politics in general.

Corn ethanol: Green Energy's Grim Reaper

| | | | | | | | | |

It has been nearly a year since I have written here at CCN, and I must confess to being more than a little bit surprised to discover that Gen. Clark has started advocating for an E15 ethanol blend and seemed to be defending corn ethanol. I will admit up front I have my biases against the corn ethanol industry but I don't think of myself as an ideologue. I am open to new ideas, new information, the reality of improving ethanol technology, fresh evidence and new data.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Meet the real Sarah Palin

On Friday John McCain selected 44 year old Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to be his running mate. The first term Alaska Governor is a self styled maverick with strong conservative roots. But who is Sarah Palin really?

A tale of one hurricane and two candidates

Climate scientist: 50:50 chance of an ice free North Pole in 2008

No this is not a joke or a hoax, although I wish it was. Last year sceintists predicted that by 2027 the North Pole might be free of ice. It appears however that prediction may be wildly off the mark.
