About a week ago, I got an e-mail from Columbus' Progressive Talk Radio station asking me for a contribution to help keep them on the air. Instead of kill-filing the e-mail and forgetting about it, I felt inspired to write a letter to the editor of the Columbus Dispatch. Here's a portion of the e-mail I received:
WVKO-AM 1580 is Central Ohio's "Air America" station, broadcasting Progressive Talk programs since December 2007.
There is good news and bad news about the station.
First the bad news:

MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME
By Stephen FosterThe sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home,
Tis summer, the people are gay;
The corn-top's ripe and the meadow's in the bloom
While the birds make music all the day.The young folks roll on the little cabin floor
All merry, all happy and bright;
By'n by hard times comes a knocking at the door
Then my old Kentucky home, Good-night!Weep no more my lady. Oh! Weep no more today!
We will sing one song for my old Kentucky home
For the old Kentucky home, far away.

Though the Pennsylvania Primary has dominated the headlines, Senator Hillary Clinton took time out to speak in support of the Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay Act. She is a co-sponsor of the bill. Here is a transcript of her remarks from yesterday:
No Paper Trail

There's been a lot of talk about Hillary and her records. Well, Obama's office records of his time in the Illinois Senate are also under scrutiny by an organization called the Judicial Watch. According to The Hill:
The president of a prominent watchdog group said Wednesday that he believes Democratic presidential frontrunner Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) “intended to leave no paper trail” during his time in the Illinois Senate.

Firsthand Accounts

When I first heard that Hillary was coming to Columbus for a rally, I knew right away I’d have Grant, 7 ½, and Madeline, 5 with me. My husband had to work that evening, so I called a friend who had actually attended OSU and knew her way around to meet me there. We saw Bill Clinton speak at the OSU Oval back in the fall of 1995 in the rain… so I thought she’d be up for this…even with my whining kids.

Jobs to take back Ohio

Call to Action

This was passed on to me because I'm on Mayor Coleman's mailing list. There are part time paid positions throughout Ohio available. See below...
Dear Coleman for Governor Supporter,
It's time to take back Ohio for progressive Democrats. Join the door-to-door movement to make Mike Coleman the next Governor of Ohio!
We're looking for energetic, outgoing field canvassers to educate voters, recruit volunteers, and raise funds for Coleman for Governor. These exciting political organizing and fundraising positions are available immediately, but space is limited.
