May 31st Rally - DNC Make Every Vote Count

Cate's picture

From:http://www.hillaryresponders.com/counteveryvote
Dear Fellow Hillary Supporters,

If you believe that the DNC must honor our core democratic principles and enfranchise the people of MI and FL and their respective delegations,

If you believe that Hillary Clinton is best for our party, most likely to win in November and best for our country,

If you believe the contest for the democratic nomination must not end before all of the votes from each State and US Territory have been cast and counted and that nominating conventions, not candidates (or the media), declare the nominee,

Attention Obama Supporters- Real Question About Campaign

Cate's picture

I have heard several Obama speeches and read from Obama supporters. Here is our very own James Mitchem...

James said:
"There are degrees of security and insecurity, right now I am willing to risk a little insecurity because I think that right now we need a president who engages with the American public to get things done. That is the whole premise of the Obama campaign, you might find it unappealing, even scary, but in my opinion we need a President who can motivate people."

NJ and Hillary

Yesterday I went to our local Hillary campaign headquarters . It has been a long time since I actually volunteered time to a campaign and I forgot how electric it can be. I started my day phone banking, which is my least favorite activity because people seem annoyed more often than appreciative even if they are voting for your candidate. Be that as it may, phone banking has been going on for decades and I guess people think it is effective. So I called about 200 people.

Super Tuesday-What Are You Doing?

I thought I would start a thread about what everyone is going to do leading up to Super Tuesday. I know Clarkies don't just sit around and blog on their computers :)

No More Idiots Voting in NJ

Cate's picture

I just got my sample ballot today and had to share question #4 with you all.

The question is titled: "Constitutional Amendment Concerning the Right to Vote for Certain Persons".

Here is the question:
"Shall the amendment of Article II, Section1, paragraph 6 of the Constitution...revise the current langauge concerning denial of the right to vote delete the phrase 'idiot or insane person' and providing instead with 'person who has been adjudicated by a court...to lack the capacity to understand the act of voting'...be adopted?"

Always a Clarkie

Well I think I have finally reached the tipping point in my hopes that General Wes will run again. After seeing the MSNBC clip from 8/27 I am now pretty convinced that Clark08 is not going to happen. That along with getting a letter from the Clark04 campaign saying they have to settle an old debt. Not sure why I am being solicited to give to an old campaign that has no current candidate. (Not to mention that WKC probably has much more earning potential than I.) I'm more inclined to give to WesPAC to keep this great PAC and people going.

Wes 08' and Campaign $$

Cate's picture

NPR Morning Edition, some political science guy was talking about the dollars needed to run a presidential campaign. They said Kerry spent 251 million and that a candidate needs at least 50 million going into the primaries. Right now there are six Democratic candidates, all seeking funds. Hillary has got 14 million in the bank left over from her senate race. Obama is starting his fundraising right now.

As much as I'd like to see Wes Clark be the next leader of this country, I am not certain he is in a financial position to run and will get the much needed $$ to sustain a campaign for the next two years. As the Democratic presidential candidate field grows in size, the fund raising $$ become more scarce. Sadly, I think these facts are going to play a big part in Wes's decision.

Hope

I've been waiting for this day for two long years. It has been very hard to remain hopeful all this time, but when despair won over hope I would come to CCN or read General Clark's latest op-ed. (Sometimes I just had to go sailing and let the wind move me towards the horizon)

Now we are once again voting for change, but this time it's different. Like a huge ocean liner changing course, it seems like Americans are finally taking the slow turn towards realizing the Republican dominance has done little to maintain or improve our country. They had their chance and now it is time for balance and strong voices to rise and try to make right what has been so wrong.

Can Clarkies Adopt a Katrina Family or Individual?

Cate's picture

I am all for contributing $$ to the Red Cross or other organizations, but are there individuals or a family we can support directly? It seems through our net work that we can identify people who need help.
