Iraq Talk -- Jim Webb in Washington VA
Submitted by roadette on October 16, 2006 - 1:44am.

Jim Webb expressed his thoughts about the war in Iraq at an event in Washington VA (originally surveyed by George Washington himself). It was a great Democratic country picnic and host Ben "Cooter" Jones had his say as well.

They just can't stop themselves. The next day I was a tracker for the Webb campaign, they were waiting for me. Instead of one blocker, there were two! Their antics interefered with Allen's own event and I thought they just made fools of themselves. See what you think:

See antics of Allen staffer as he harasses Webb campaign tracker yesterday (Oct 3). These days, all campaigns have trackers. There is video of Allen's tracker at a Webb event and he is treated with courtesy and respect by the Webb people. Remember what happened to the last tracker Allen addressed? You'd think they'd learn...

campaign speech | Jim Webb | John Edwards | Virginia Senate Race | Democratic politics

Maybe you had to work or live in one of the 49 states other than Virginia, so you might not have had a chance to hear Jim Webb and John Edwards at University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA yesterday.
I was there and shot video of the event. There's a summary of Webb's campaign talking points. I edited a very short version of it and posted it at youtube: http://www.youtube.com/roadette

The idea behind this spot is that it's time to clean up the Rebumblican messes.
Go to the link below. There are 8 videos posted...click on the one with a red title: The Mess in Iraq. The link: http://www.youtube.com/roadette
New James Webb Web Spot...you might get a kick out of it (pun intended)

I finished the third of the "Boot" spots. This one was fun to do too...figuring out the little animation was an interesting addition. The title of the video is "Macaca Boots." (I am using this as the title because I noticed with the last video that if I put 'macaca'in the title, YouTube's automated recommend system pulls my videos up with every search on that word. A friend tested it and it seems to work every time.)

OK, OK, I went too far. I have replaced the spot with R-Va), truthful if temporary...we hope@
From now on, I will not post direct links to videos because it makes changing them a mess
across multiple blog sites. So...when I put up new videos, I'll just post the link to the
channel and you can access any of the videos now and in the future.

I've been working with this :10-second format and will probably do a few more in this series. I set up a channel on YouTube. Go to the link and choose the video you want to watch:

I'm a little worried about making a whole bunch of these announcements (don't want to wear out my welcome!), so this one will serve to tell you that in the next few days, I'll be posting: 1) two videos from the 9/05 antiwar demonstrations in L.A. 2) five videos from '04 presidential campaign to register progressive voters; 3) two videos from Skid Row/L.A.; 4) five videos from Baghdad, 2003, right after the US invasion -- a totally different version of this footage appeared on ABC Nightline (all good, just different); 5) two videos of Richard Walden, exec director of Operation USA, progressive medical aid NGO, one discussing how Bush admin paid back its religious right allies by streaming Katrina cash to them, the other about the group's aid to Lebanon.
Videoblogger for James Webb D-VA, running against George Allen: On YouTube

Hi, I'm Roadette. I'll be going to Virginia on September 25 and staying until October 23. I'm taking a month off my job to videoblog daily from the James Webb campaign trail. My YouTube channel for the videoblogs is: http://www.youtube.com/roadette
I've posted 2 :12-seconds spot to troubleshoot the system and will post more videos over the next couple of weeks. (I hope ya like 'em).
In 2004, I spent 6 weeks on the road doing the same thing for a Dem voter registration drive in 38 swing states. I can't believe how much the technology has changed. The camera is the same (Pana DVX 100A) but everything else is amazingly different. My PC was a 1.7 MHz Pentium that choked a few times a day. And I edited in an RV, using USB enclosed 3.5" drives that slid across the dining table whenever the freeway curved or the driver passed a car. I had a horrible time uploading the video. The site itself needed some work to get the videos to play. I couldn't find many hotspots where I could upload the videoblogs from the road. Half the ones in Starbucks didn't work (Amarillo: 'Gosh, I b'leve the manager put some of that kinda stuff in the back, but it's still in them boxes...').
