From NOLA City Councilmember: Mission NOT Accomplished

Clark Warner's picture

Hey there Clarkies! Clark Warner -- formerly known as alexm -- here.

I've been a bit busy working here in New Orleans so I haven't been available to much for anything more than lurking but wanted to give you a link to a diary my boss (Councilmember Shelley Midura) just posted on DailyKos in response to all the Bush White House spin and blame shifting.

It's pretty impressive and I hope you'll take a moment to read it, recommend it and forward it onto your email lists for the same.

Thursday, February 2nd: The Day We Picked Up PA07.

From dkos --

Former Vice Admiral Joe Sestak announced his candidacy for PA-07 today.  A few bio highlights: command of the USS George Washington aircraft carrier group in the Indian Ocean during the War in Afghanistan; Director of Defense Policy for the President Clinton; master's degree in Public Administration and a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard.

Dr. Paul Scoles announced his withdrawal from the primary and endorsed Sestak. This leaves Bryan Lentz and Sestak in the Dem primary.  Lentz, also a Fighting Dem, was a Major in the Army Reserves and served in Iraq. Sestak makes Lentz look like a lightweight, and I hope Lentz bows out.  (Lentz also gave a contibution, albeit small, to Santorum's 2000 campaign.)

Warner for President is EVERYWHERE in LA

Clark Warner's picture

At first I just thought it was one person who just really like Gov. Warner and was travelling across the state to the same Democratic events I was attending in Shreveport, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Alexandria and then Baton Rouge today.

But after the third city I noticed that the person tabling for Warner was different and it was a different person at each city.

At the table were Warner 08 buttons with the graphic design ripped off completely from the Warner for Senate logo much like what is occuring at www.votehillary.org and what I had attempted to do with Clark 08 gear via CafePress until being threatened with legal action by a couple of self-appointed and self-important Clark police who even took the time to involve an attorney in our discussion, all while I was in and out of a hospital stay that resulted in an E-room visit for flu that apparently was the closest I've come to a bio-weapon!

Sen. Allen hires former RNC Chair Gillespie as Treasurer of Presidential PAC.

Clark Warner's picture

As I'm sure many of you are aware I've always said that the defacto 2008 Republican nominee is Sen. George Allen of VA.

He's like a dumber but more jock-ish George Bush but that's not why he's the frontrunner.  Its because like Kerry in 2004 he will be the party's former Senate Campaign Committee Chair (NRSC) and will have the national fundraising contacts that will allow him to raise massive amounts of ealry money which will then allow him to hire up all the talent -- just as Kerry did.

Political talent wins primaries not candidates as 2004 proved.

With today's announcement that Ed Gillespie has agree to be his Treasurer its the final piece of his 2008 puzzle until the states begin staffing up.

The Albatross for the 2008 Field.

Clark Warner's picture

With the very likely possibility of Iraq being ravaged by civil war with either our troops stuck in the middle of it or withdrawing rapidly and pushing the country into total disintergration there will be a rather large Albatross that will be hanging around the neck of many of the crowded field for 2008:

The Iraq War Resolution

Along with Sen. Zell Miller (There's your FIRST clue this was wrong) and Sens. Evan Bayh, John Edwards and Joe Lieberman (There's your SECOND and FINAL clue this war was a stupid idea) co-sponsored S.J. 46 (107th congress) which was the equivalent of Hastert's H.J. 114 which was the "IWR" that was eventually passed by the congress.

2008 Presidential Money Chase

I've got my framed Delay mugshot and arrest warrant. Do you?

Clark Warner's picture

As soon as the mug shot and arrest warrant became available today I printed them out on photo paper and bonded paper respectively and went to my local frameshop to have them matted side-by-side in a beautiful and ornate 16x20 gold frame with cream matting.

While waiting for the job to be complete I decided to purchase two more identical set-ups and have them reserved for two of the following list (Listed in order of importance) -

  1. Vice President Dick Cheney (R-WY)
  2. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN)
  3. Dept. WH Chief of Staff Karl Rove

The three frames are spaced carefully and fit rather nicely under my blown up panaromic photo from the Democratic National Convention.

US News & World Report : Cheney to Resign if Indicted. Bush to Elevate Rice to VP.

Clark Warner's picture

I hope everyone is sitting down.  It does indeed look like there is something to all these rumors that Cheney is the target of the investigation now.

Sparked by today's Washington Post story that suggests Vice President Cheney's office is involved in the Plame-CIA spy link investigation, government officials and advisers passed around rumors that the vice president might step aside and that President Bush would elevate Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Gore Announces He's not Running 2008

Clark Warner's picture

Today in Stockholm Sweden former Vice President Al Gore (D-TN) announced what most already knew.  He will not seek the Democratic Party's nomination for President in 2008.

Former Vice President Al Gore said Wednesday he had no intention of ever running for president again, but he said the United States would be "a different country" if he had won the 2000 election, launching into a scathing attack of the Bush administration.
