Today, during a Foreign Affairs Hearing on the Iraq Escalation, Major General Batiste offered an astoundingly realistic and frightening rassessment of Iraq, US Foreign Policy, and the near-broken state of our Military. His 13 minute assessment can be watched here . I tried to embed the video but had no luck.

Anna and I are on a shared list. I found her following post to be very insightful and thought-provoking, and, with her permission, wanted to share it with everyone here:

Over the past few weeks, as it became more and more (depressingly) clear that Gen. Clark is not going to join the 2008 presidential race, I've given a lot of thought to where to put my support, and I reached the exact same conclusion as Wes. But then, I'm originally from Europe where Hillary is far more popular than here.
So two weeks ago I joined the Hillary campaign, still ready to switch back to Wes at moment's notice.

"Macho Jacko" is wearing the check shirt, soft tobacco-coloured jacket and suede shoes of the recently retired Army man but he might just as well be in disguise because all I can see is the maroon Parachute Regiment beret, the pressed fatigues and the gaunt features of an Easter Island monolith that dominated his military campaigns. That indelible image includes the portmanteau-sized eyebags, so seductive to his female following and such a gift to photographers, even though he's since had them surgically removed - shame!
