"Conventioneers" movie at SF Int'l Asian-Am Film Fest

Events
If you're going to be in San Francisco or San Jose this weekend and the next, you might want to check out the SF International Asian American Film Festival for lots of great movies made by Asian-Am filmmakers.
One movie called "Conventioneers" is coined as a "red state-blue state romance", it was filmed guerrilla-style in the midst of the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York. Apparently some of the filmmakers got too close to the action and were arrested as a result. (wow, how much more underground can you get?!)
Richard Pombo billboard contest

I see that the anti-Richard Pombo billboard contest is down to three finalists. Go vote for your favorite:
My vote is for #2 (shows the world and Pombo's head, and the words "You Decide"). Although it needs some sprucing up graphics-wise, it has a clear and simple message, with a serious tone. The first one seems too downbeat to me. The third one comes a close second for me, because it's funny and angry and looks good.
Just my opinion. Go vote!
(And no, I did not enter the billboard contest.
CA-11 Endorsement afterthoughts

Endorsements
I recently had some conversations with a couple of our East Bay for Clark members (including Joe our coordinator) about Steve Filson being endorsed over Jerry McNerney. I'm still annoyed by the endorsement and would have preferred a non-endorsement in this situation. I do understand that Filson's background as an Air Force vet was a major factor in the endorsement. At least us local Clarkies aren't being told to switch allegiances or anything, we're still going to support who we want to support.
It's even more obvious to me the two very different campaigns that McNerney and Filson are waging.
Irritated by endorsement of Filson over McNerney in CA-11

Endorsements
Just ran across this in the Say No to Pombo blog:
Some Clark Backers Upset by Endorsement

I don't know what to make of Wesley Clark's endorsement of Steve Filson over Jerry McNerney. One would think that the story of Jerry's write-in campaign, the fact that Jerry has a son in the Air Force, his progressive values and overall campaign organization would be a natural fit for Clarkies. Not to mention the fact that East Bay for Clark (which I am a member) have been with Jerry since the beginning. It's not like Steve Filson has stellar political credentials, other than the fact that he was actually in the military.

Firsthand Accounts
It's 4 days after the fact, but I had to post this gushing report about my encounter with General Clark at the Dem rally in LA. If you're looking for an actual reportback about the rally, you'll have to read someone else's blog (ms in la has an accurate report), as I was too starstruck to remember much of anything.
------->begin gushing report<---------
I had flown down from SF to visit my bf Mark (who's a field rep. for Assm. Fran Pavley, although he wasn't officially 'on the clock' that weekend). I was already bummed about missing Wes' dinner event in SF, so when Mark told me about this rally, I kept bugging him to take me. After all, 1) Wes would be there, and 2) it was free!
