Please thank Mary for finding this excellent interview of General Clark, by The Economist, at The Clinton Global Initiative. It's just over 8 minutes. Wish they all took at least this much time when interviewing him - he packs a tremendous amount of information into a small amount of time that never fails to make one think further!

Clean SkiesTV Interviews Gen. Clark: "The Battle over Blended Ethanol"
Submitted by kaflinn on August 4, 2009 - 10:13pm.

Yes, apparently there really is a tv network dedicated to energy and the environment.
Wes, as usual, was very good in this. Wish they'd let him go more in depth though.

Torture in the U.S.: How would you resolve this?
Submitted by kaflinn on May 14, 2009 - 5:19pm.

There have been a number of articles and blogs posted here about this, but not a lot of discussion from any of us about how we would handle this, if it were up to any one of us (and, to some degree, it is). I always thought, and hoped, that part of the purpose of this blog was to work out the solutions to problems - not just state that they exist and scream against the wind.
So here are my questions:

JIM LEHRER: Next tonight, the command shake-up in Afghanistan raises the "What kind of Army?" question, and to Ray Suarez.
RAY SUAREZ: Defense Secretary Robert Gates said he needed new thinking and new approaches from the military when he shuffled Army commanders yesterday in Afghanistan.
Out was General David McKiernan, a one-time tank officer who headed the ground forces during the 2003 Iraq invasion. In were two generals with careers in counterinsurgency warfare, Stanley McChrystal and David Rodriguez.
Article: "Wind industry looks to Washington for updraft" re: Gen Clark's panel
Submitted by kaflinn on May 7, 2009 - 12:38am.

The American Wind Energy Association is holding its annual conference in Chicago this week but many of its attendees' thoughts are in Washington, D.C.
Wind industry executives said on a media conference call on Wednesday that a national renewable electricity standard (RES) that would require power generation from wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass is necessary to significantly expand the U.S. wind industry.
Jill Derby (NV) Virtual Phone Banking - Please Help!
Submitted by kaflinn on September 22, 2008 - 12:47pm.

Just got this in from Cindy Trigg; "Jill's race has just been updated to "lean Republican" and this is the effort that put Jim Webb over the top in 2006."
So - really need some phone-banking help here. Jill's an extremely bright lady who came very close to winning in 2006. With a little Clarkie help, maybe we can help get her there this time!
Please go to: http://jillderby.bluevoters.com/index.cfm and register to phone bank. This is an online system and very easy to use.
Thanks a million!

Now's The Time To Move Forward
Submitted by kaflinn on August 29, 2008 - 9:16am.

If I sound like a dork, it's because I'm trying to make myself think at 5:30am and the IV of coffee is just getting warmed up, so forgive me...
OK - the convention is now over and, it really is time to move forward. Those here who have supported Senator Clinton have had many months to vent their frustrations and try to get themselves used to the idea of Senator Obama as the nominee. Those who supported Senator Obama have had those same months to vent their frustrations at Clinton supporters. It should end now. Please.
