John McCain | Energy | Environment | Media

Dirty
Did you know that Dick Cheney’s former spokesperson Cathie Martin is the wife of FCC chair Kevin Martin?
I’m so glad that the woman who recently testified about how she manipulated the media is married to the guy who’s supposed to be in charge of ethics and values in the media.
Filthy
Dick Cheney Energy Policy, Step 1: Keep the coal fires burning at the DoE.
Renewable energy will never go mainstream unless and until at least the U.S. Department of Energy is onboard. And right now, the DoE gets only 3% of its energy from green sources. Hippie organizations like Wells Fargo and the United States Air Force rank higher. Ugh.
Slimy
The Straight Talk Express. That was the name John McCain gave his campaign bus in 2000.
This video should come as no surprise to anyone who pays close attention to the news. But since McCain is the GOP frontrunner for the ’08 nomination, I think it’s worth watching if you haven’t seen it.
Remember, John McCain called John Kerry one of his closest friends but then campaigned against him throughout the 2004 campaign. Even worse than that, McCain chose to support George Bush after he claimed that the Bush campaign sunk his chances in the 2000 South Carolina Primary by telling voters that he was the father of an illegitimate black baby.
So either McCain’s principles are so low that:
…he gave Bush a free pass for Karl Rove’s slimeball, racist, personal attacks.
…or…
…he made up the whole “push poll” story.
Straight talk, my ass.
Shakespeare was right about protesting too much. Merely calling yourself “a maverick” or a “straight shooter” doesn’t make it so. The same applies to reporters – no matter how many times they click their heels together and tell us that McCain is different, we do not live in a land of flying monkeys.
Plain and simple, when anyone in politics (or otherwise) works tirelessly trying to convince you that they’re trustworthy, I can assure you that they’re not.
You hear that, Fox News?

Wes Clark, here: "John McCain sold out; he crossed the line!"
My sentiments exactly, General Clark!

tis there a date or or place for that Wes quote?
http://tinyurl.com/2lo7su sound file - from memory - Gov. George W. Bush circa 1999 /2000 - I am going to change the tone in Washington.

It was said during a small gathering of his supporters, at the Museum of Visionary Arts, in Baltimore, MD. It was in September of 2004. Wes appeared there, just prior to his speaking at Johns Hopkins University, later that evening.
I don't have the full quote or exact date handy just now, but I was standing right in front of him when he said it. So were several other Clarkies who post here, often. We had all just witnessed the kissing & hugging that went on between McCain & Bush in the run up to the 2004 election.
Anyway, Wes said this in response to someone who asked him what he thought about all the media talk that Kerry wanted McCain to be his running mate. Basically, Wes said that the Democrats should stop hoping to get McCain to come back to our party because he was too far gone.

I wasn't there. But I remember reading that quote.
One ticket on that Straight Talk Express, please.
