If you learn of other ENOUGH Sunday locations, please post them in this thread.

We mostly talked amongst ourselves about the goings on in Washington DC and the future of the revolution. Next week shooting for 7! The Declaration of Independence was only signed by 56 dudes and now that's 300 million or so! :)
Oh, and, unfortunately, they had a camera, so I have that to look forward to. :(

It's just that I work on Sunday mornings...

It's like a museum. So you actually feel like the Constitution is something an archaeologist dug up. I joked to an open air tour bus that the building behind me is where they buried the Constitution when President Bush killed it. But there was a very nice lady from Pasadena California out front and we chatted for a while. She was a history teacher and was all about the whole story of the Continental Congress and the Underground railroad and all. Funny though, They just built a new building on the mall that houses the Liberty Bell, and there's a huge sign that says something about the block being the most historic area in all of the United States, and the building that it's on is brand spanking new! (And it's built on top of the old President's Mansion.)
The first time I was at the Constitution Center was in 2003. I wanted to go and see the Democratic debates there, but it was VIP seating, Big wigs of the Party etc. Which, is totally weak. So I went home and watched it on C-Span. (Pre WKC debate too btw ;)
In front of the Federal courthouse.
2 people strong this week but met quite a few people willing to stand with us next week.
Alas no pictures - I brought a camera but forgot to charge the batteries.

The courthouse faces the Cape Fear river in downtown Wilmington and there was plenty of foot traffic with plenty of tourist in town. Most people just walked by without any acknowledgment positive or negative. Many gave a polite nod and smile. The few that asked what the enough t-shirts were about responded with enthusiasm when we explained we had enough of the direction the administration was taking this country. I met at least 3 people who said they might join us next week. But I've got two other's i'm sure will join me next week.
Wes Jr. & Cenk are taking the right approach I think. Don't ask people to sign petitions, don't tie the protest into other causes - impeachment or withdrawing from Iraq (both great causes) but stay focused on just standing up and saying you've had enough.
Don't ask for publicity if this becomes a movement it will get a life of its own
The following is very important! People need to remember this.
"Don't ask people to sign petitions, don't tie the protest into other causes - impeachment or withdrawing from Iraq (both great causes) but stay focused on just standing up and saying you've had enough."
To often protest from the left have NO focus! The righties can and do focus on an issue. Much to often we are all over the place, so it just looks like a bunch of "crazy" lefties with to much time on our hands.

from the left.
At times people get caught up in specific causes - Darfur, Global warming, Iraq, impeachment, LGBT rights, voting fraud, etc. Not to diminish any of those causes but what's that line about united we stand?
There ends up being dozens of easily dismissed protests of a handful of people instead of a single unignorable protests of hundreds.

I stood on the corner in front of the Roundhouse with my sign(s) and my tee(s)... no one joined in.
Traffic was slow... it's Sunday in Santa Fe. I could hear the Cathedral Bells tolling as I searched for the right spot, and a few people driving by looked at me with big Question Marks over their heads.
One guy slowed down, rolled down his window, and yelled his question: "Is that your suicide note?" Then he laughed and drove away.
I will do more this week to see if I can get attendees... I'm a bit depressed that not one person I wrote to responded with even a "No thanks" much less enthusiasm.
We shall endeavor to persevere........ ,)
Oh, and sorry. No photo. Me, myself and I didn't have anyone to take one of me.
Signed....
Me, myself and I
in the Land of Manana. sigh*

This will take time. What was the street location in Santa Fe so I can add it in?

At the Roundhouse (State Capital Bldg.)
I wouldn't add it to any Action list in until you hear from me IF you are planning on announcing this location to others. I may find a better PUBLIC location with another group on Cerrillos Road/St. Francis Drive, a group of Vets who stand/sit in wheelchairs at that location often. I need to see if I can see them on the street first and talk with them. They were at many of my WKC meetups and I have lost contact with them.
OR... I might try to find a Dem group who is interested in joining me, a group that will leave their chosen candidate out of the decision to protest. If you know what I mean...
Let me see what I can come up with.

It was just me until 12:30, then the co-conspirators made it, and then had to find parking, so it was just me until 12:30, then 2 of us, then all three for ten minutes or so. So next time we're gonna bust out the revolution. When it's just one person, I think people assume that "Enough" is like a new Nike slogan or something. :D
to get us all from one location to another. LOL!
Then we would be a force to behold! :D
Thanks to you and everyone who's participated! Nike slogan? My one interested person offered it might be my suicide note! hahaha. If he sees me again next week, he's going to think I have a hard time suiciding myself? LOL! In that case, maybe he'll join me long ENOUGH to find out what it means?

What a pitiful thought. A potential suicider standing week after week all alone on the street with a sign of declaration. LOL
Maybe you should add something to your 'enough' sign until people realize you are protesting.

Kinda fits the way we have felt since 2000? LOL!
I just told MA3 I'm thinking about painting ENOUGH in white a number of times around a black umbrella. It might draw more attention! :D

Good idea! Or bad? Drawing more attention may result in commitment. LOL
Even though mom wouldn't stand with me today I'm taking her to see Sicko this afternoon. I already watched it online via the link Westcott posted. Great movie! Now I have the need to pay to see it. I felt a little guilty watching a pirated version.
C'ya later & good effort!

I'm going to purchase a ticket with my two roommates and see it again. I felt guilty too! LOL!
Laters and thanks again! :D
though we have had some really good days when national marches were going on.
I'll keep trying. LOL!

Hey, when you do good you will come across by those who don't understand. (hugs and two thumbs up for your brave work).
I have to do it some time soon myself but I have been working over the weekends as well, and I am hoping my friend/friends will join me.
I'm also thinking of painting an umbrella, black one, with white words around it "ENOUGH?"..... It was hot outside and the umbrella might get more attention?
What do you think?

Enough umbrella - that would get attention :-) you did good MSBE...... Santa Fe is a sleepy town on Sundays if memory serves;

Instead of painting get a white umbrella and stick Enough bumper stickers around.
I wish I can join you so you can chant and gather people while I have your back…

TE3
Specifications: More than 100 ft tall
P.S. Great movie and the director pokes fun at President Bush with red socks…
but...er, Wes Jr. might think we have gone too far with your transformers! I do like the squirt gun. I coulda shot the snark from one guy today. LOL!

MsB, I'm so proud of you for going all by yourself. I tried to get somebody to go with me but came up empty. At first, I bribed my daughter into going with a nice brunch at her favorite restaurant, but she backed out at the last minute. Sheesh, what has the world come to when you can't count on a good bribe?
My mom might have gone if it wasn't nearly 100 degrees today. My sister, who I can always count on, had to work today.
You done good, kiddo.

Kenzie decided to have a kidney flair up and we had to take her to emergency room two days ago, so she's down for a few days. She was going to be my sidekick! It did feel like it was a lonely mission... I kind of felt foolish most of the time. I mean, I expected someone(s) to honk or something. Instead, most people just passed me by like I was invisible. Oh well... :(
Thanks Ruth! :D

Couldn't find a single soul to stand with me -- and we don't really have a good place in the village -- so I punked out. One guy from our Dem group suggested I stand at the entrance to Incline Beach on Lakeshore Blvd. as that's where most traffic is on Sundays. But he had other things to and couldn't go with. No one else in my Dem group answered the email I sent out. Other than that location, there's the Raley's shopping center, but it's not on the street. Maybe on Tahoe Blvd. at the entrance to Raley's? Dunno. There's no "downtown" or anything close here.
I'm so proud of you for going all by your lonesome. You have inspired me, and next Sunday, whether I find anyone to stand with or not, I will go somewhere.
Once in a while you get shown the light, In the strangest of places if you look at it right.
ENOUGH! Now that would be cool! Make sure your boat dude swerves you around from shore to shore? And heck, it would be more fun than standing on the corner watchin' all the sheep pass by..... LOL!

put ENOUGH on your boating water vest & remember the sunscreen; you should have fun next Sunday take it to the lake - it is the only THE most beautiful high mountain lake in the world !!!!!

My boat dude! LOL!! Well, I do have a friend with a boat, but he's an old high school buddy and his wife doesn't really like he and I hanging out together! So funny, because not only were he and I nothing but friends, Scott never had a girlfriend at all in h.s.! LOL!! Oh well, don't want to cause any trouble, so I steer clear of them for the most part.
And yeah, standing at the entrance to the beach which on weekends is mainly touristas on vacation doesn't seem like it's going to attract much interest or anything. They'll prolly think I'm saying "ENOUGH TOURISTS!" or something. LOL!!
Once in a while you get shown the light, In the strangest of places if you look at it right.
and water ski! Too damn funny!
Yeah, the one word can be misinterpreted, which makes it more important to get more than one person standing with the sign or tee.
ONE is the loneliest number...... :D
As an Angeleno, I'm bummed that I couldn't join Wes Jr. in Westwood. I'm up in Montana doing some flyfishing. Figures.
But I hope it went well. I'd have looked forward to meeting up. But my thoughts were with you guys.
Great work.

Too bad I need my second job...

Questa, New Mexico is located 20 miles north of Taos and 20 miles south of the Colorado border on State Highway 522.
Didn't mean to be rude and not answer your question. But it is far ENOUGH away for me not to join in there. I wonder who the Questa person is that chose to protest today. Kind of cool! :D

Mike Malloy said he would be at the State Capitol. I wonder if we will hear a report from him on his next show.

You'd think Santa Fe would have lots of people who would get it.
just as they aren't button people, bumper-sticker people... they don't join into a protest unless it's a rally that's had national proclamation. I sometimes think Santa Fe Blues think the whole city is blue, or the reds here are not worth messaging. Also they forget, TOURISTS. I'd stand on the plaza, but getting a permit to do this, week after week, is a real hassle. But tourists would be the people to message and involve.
Ok. I'll make a float and have my own parade. Oop.. I need a permit for that too. :/
The plaza is the town square. Malls in Santa Fe do not allow anything political, unless they have received permission, and rarely permission is given. We aren't even allowed to get voter registrations done in malls here. I found that out the hard way. Sometimes ownership changes, but so far I have not been given permission to put up a table to register voters.
We are required to file a special use permit. Unfortunately, the businesses in the vicinity will usually file what is called a Special Use Protest Petition, protesting the special use permit that was filed, protesting any group that comes within (I think 200 feet) of their business. Now, if you look at the size of our plaza, that means it is difficult to receive a permit for a rally. Luckily a few marches have been so large and have received permits but only within an allowable time-frame for a day.
Many times protesters meet on sidewalks away from businesses, in a visual part of town with large avenues/streets so they can be seen.
I am going to look into this before next weekend.

and walk around the plaza. Maybe someone will ask you about your t-shirt. I appreciate your determination there in S.F. They did a bit on Prairie Home Companion about getting ready for a protest march for people around 60. They said it was a protest to stop us from bombing Iran. It was funny. The lady in the skit said her protest sign was done in mauve.
many colors here, as well.
Damn, I just need to learn to network better, ya know? Since Wes stepped out of the race I have lost communication with everyone. They seem to have disappeared into the woodwork. :(

Do you have a county Dem group that meets each month? We have one here that meets on the second Saturday of the month for breakfast. That's where I'd have to go if I wanted to get the word out around here. I'd wear a t-shirt that said ENOUGH to the mall, sit somewhere really public and have a beverage, see who's walking by. I have more people ask me about buttons I've worn, than really had people pay much attention when I've stood on street corners with a sign. We have a group against the war in Iraq who have done that every Sunday afternoon since it started. They are really dedicated.
thought about that after I realized that no one was joining me. I was hoping I'd get a few to join in.
My Dem groups are swallowed up now by Richardson's folks. That puts me in a hard situation since I can't bear the man's politics. That's why I've refrained from joining any.
What I need to do is find people who aren't sucked in by that... I can make some calls to people I think might be more interested in the message rather than the candidate. I just need some time....and ideas.

My county party has a Second Saturday Breakfast each month, too, LJM. That's where I passed out my first set of Clark flyers in August '03. In December '03 a friend and I represented Clark in a Presidential forum at the same event. That's where I saw the first Kerry people ever here at all the places I'd gone. Turns out one of them is now my Congressman, Ed Perlmutter.
We usually get 60-100 people there, depending on the program.

and can be there next week. Seeing as the Chicago contingent was to be at the entrance to the Art Institute, I hope that no one thinks it's a protest against art. I kinda like art, and think there should be more of it.
Although, that area is jam packed with people on a Sunday, so I suppose it's a good, visible location.
had Impeach signs so everybody got it right away.
My ENOUGH sign had the famous "W" with the red circle and slash through it.
Reality Bites (Kos) was there... all ages, and types. We had people bring their kids, there were senior citizens-- the whole gamut of Americans.
It was lovely.
And of course Wes Jr. got "the question". Repeatedly.
One of my guests asked him "So is your Dad going to run?" and he said "I dunno. I hope not."
I suggested a replacement line be written (well, he is a writer) for his Dad so we can lose the ole "I haven't said I won't". Heh.
I must say- even though it is LA and very blue-- I was kind of surprised at the over the top car responses we got. Some people saw that Honk for Impeachment sign and hit their horns like their life depended on it.
And maybe it does...
A great day.
See my post at Kevin's Kos diary for the rest. I will try to get the pix up. But no guarantees.
For the record.
No tie
White Tshirt, Big Bold Black Letters "ENOUGH"
Red baseball cap
Cargo pants
Tennies
So used to reporting on Wes Sr's wardrobe, it only seemed natural... ; )

with three people, all of us parents of active duty military!
(That does seem to be a highly motivating factor for people to make time.)
No pix this time--sorry. Will remember a camera next time.
Mostly ignored. A few friendly folks stopped to chat and some honked and waved.
One guy yelled from his car, "We've had enough of YOU!" We wondered WHO he thought we were, and I offered the the suggestion that one of our group members bears a slight resemblance to Cindy Sheehan.
All in all, a pretty pleasant hour (warm, sunny day with a nice lake breeze), and we were thinking that, since there is a small park right there, perhaps in the future we should pack our lunches and have a "picnic" together afterwards.
