Four Years and Counting

Four Years and Counting

Let’s keep making a difference. Please contribute to our “2008 Fund” today

Four years ago, I was in the first month of my presidential campaign. I remember wondering to myself: “Can we make a difference? Will people come out to listen to a retired general and political outsider, who has never held elected office?”

Now, four years later, I can say without any hesitation: We made a difference.

Now let’s keep making a difference. Please contribute to our “2008 Fund” today – so we can fight for the issues and candidates that will help get America back on track in the next election!

http://securingamerica.com/contribute

With you behind me in 2003 and 2004, we helped Democrats lead the debate on the issues of Iraq and national security. We made the case: Democrats are the party of national security. Democrats will keep America safe. And though we took tough losses in 2004, we laid the groundwork for 2006. Then in 2006 your support amplified my voice. I hit the campaign trail for dozens of candidates, and we carried Democrats to victory, gaining control of Congress.

Well, I need your help again today. 2008 will be a critical election up and down the ballot as we usher in new leadership to fix the mess George W. Bush has created. While I have decided not to seek the presidency myself, we have an ambitious plan to keep me on the campaign trail helping Democrats win. Now we need the resources to do it.

We have 48 hours to raise $25,000 to jump-start our “2008 Fund.” Please make a contribution today!

http://securingamerica.com/contribute

Last cycle, WesPAC helped 42 candidates win their races across America, including several veterans and 25 candidates who flipped their seats from Republican to Democratic seats. We helped bring political balance to Armed Forces Radio by adding Ed Shultz to the airwaves, and we continued to press both Republicans and Democrats to change course in Iraq.

Now, we’re fighting to take Rush Limbaugh off taxpayer-funded Armed Forces Radio for his despicable remarks against our troops. We’re pushing for a responsible end to the occupation in Iraq. We’re speaking out to prevent a military conflict with Iran. And of course, we’re fighting to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

I ask you to stand with me in these fights. We have 48 hours to raise $25,000 to jump-start our “2008 Fund.” Help us get there before Friday’s midnight deadline.

http://securingamerica.com/contribute

Our “2008 Fund” will make sure WesPAC and I have the resources we need to help Democrats win up-and-down the ballot, from coast-to-coast. But we can’t do it without your help.

Let’s keep making a difference.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

Eager to see you out on the campaign trail again- & good luck with Mr. Colbert!!! You are both national treasures.

Armed Forces radio should stop meekly handing over millions of dollars of PR & opinion shaping influence to Rush & those "conservative talk radio" personalities who have met directly with the President & WH to coordinate partisan messaging & propaganda. That behavior is reckless & defies common sense.

Rush is peddling swill with an agenda - he is just selling a crappy product. We should stop subsidizing it. He has plenty of free speech opportunities to blast his gorp elsewhere on the radio dial where we aren't forced to foot the bill.

We were just discussing yesterday when your ActBlue page for Congressional candidates would be coming, as some of us are already donating to various races and would love to see our donations credited to WesPAC.

In the meantime, I'm in for supporting your tireless efforts to increase our majority, as our bare majority right now just isn't cutting it.

Can't wait to see you on Colbert Report tonight!

...I'm maintaining my $108.08 monthly donation.

I did, however, just donate to Hillary using the special Wes Clark page. If you'd like to donate to Hillary in Wes's name, click here. Let's show Hillary what Wes can do for her.

I'm not interested in donating to Hillary in my name, in Wes Clark's name, or in anyone else's name. As an aside, after the blogHillary went up on the Blog Roll right after Clark endorsed Clinton, I went over and left a comment to the "article" that had been posted there about Clark's endorsement. I say "article" because there's no place on Clinton's website for any actual free-wheeling discussion - it's all "articles" posted by some regular "bloggers" that evidently are meant for only "positive" comments, with "positive" being defined by the campaign. Anyway, I didn't say anything mean or nasty about Clinton. I just explained that I was a supporter of Clark's from 2003, and that I had continued to support his causes, petitions, e-mails, etc. ever since, that knowing that he might not run again I had looked at the 8 Democratic candidates and made some initial assessments, listed my assessments (including not being able to support either Clinton or Edwards), and ended by saying that Clinton was very fortunate to have Clark's endorsement, but that it wasn't enough for me to become a Clinton supporter. I submitted this comment on 9-17 or 9-18, and - surprise, surprise - it's never been posted, and obviously never will. About a week later, I e-mailed the campaign to ask what had happened to my comment and for an explanation of what, if any, "rules" it violated. No answer yet. Again - surprise, surprise. So, money for Clinton? I think not. She's been too closed, secretive, and controlling for too long - nothing like the openess and transparency of Wes Clark - and I don't see her changing her "governing style" at this point in her life.

No problem. LatinJum. You were certainly in your rights. I just wanted to be sure that people who were willing to donate to Clinton's campaign knew that they could do so in Clark's name. No pressure implied or meant.

Thank you, Sir, for all you do-- So happy to see you will remain not only active but with "an ambitious plan" to be on the campaign trail for 2008. Your voice is needed now maybe more than ever.

Amidst our current frustrations it's always good to be able to glance out over the accomplishments we have made even though the road ahead looks endlessly long from here.

Let's hope we can elect the kinds of Democrats who know how to stand up for something and have taken a refresher course on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights before taking the oath. We seemed to have gotten "fooled" by a few of them last round. Can't we institute something like a Drivers Ed course for these officials? Congressional Temporary Learning Permits before granting them the keys to the 'car'? : )

on a small scale and if and when I can some others here in Ohio.

As much as I love ya' Wes I have to say that none of what little I can give will go to help Mrs. Clinton. I'm sure you will understand.

I've never been able to give enough to make much of a difference anyway so it won't be a great loss to your efforts.

And as I said, I'm staying local this time around. Don't have much to spread around and am going to put it into my locality.

The piddly amount they're limited to giving per candidate would amount to nothing for a campaign that is already swimming in cash, but WesPAC's support of a congressional candidate might make the difference between winning and losing. Wes knows how important it is to get a veto-proof majority in Congress. Maybe even more important than electing a President. Just my opinion.

You see there are many ways to have my little bit end up aiding her.

And again, I haven't much to give and will spend what I have in the Buckeye state this time around.

(even if they had the money and wanted to) is $5K.

WesPAC has avoided 'giving' money directly to candidates. They've always asked Wes's supporters to contribute to endorsed candidates directly (gives us a choice, doncha know). As always, WesPAC funds support Wes's effort to help Democratic candidates..... mostly by allowing him to travel to their states.

Whether you might construe WKC using funds on a trip where he might say something nice about HC as a 'contribution to Mrs. Clinton' or not depends on your personal opinion.

The FEC doesn't consider that sort of thing a 'contribution'.

In my mind, Wes, you are THE key to unlocking many red states to Democratic Party candidates. Other than winning the Presidency, nothing could be more important in 2008. I am pleased to be able to help you keep up the good work.
