Classic Clark 10/30/07
Submitted by Ruth on October 30, 2007 - 2:42am.
PBS | Tavis Smiley | Wesley Clark

that was great, especially towards the end. I liked the relating of the woes of the Ballkans with the firsthand history in Little Rock especially & Tavis is right- that's a pretty long definition for a retired guy! :)
Thanks so much.
Clark is definitely at his best when the interviewer allows him the time to answer their question with a thoughtful response.
It's only then that the viewers truly become aware of his intelligence, wisdom, and passion.
Thanks for posting the interview.

excellent, well-studied, polite, no political b.s., and if he's gonna go political he'll announce it, apologetically.
The antidote to the Bill Maher experience.
Thanks, Ruth! I do appreciate your "catches." I'm currently in southern Oregon and the PBS station here isn't showing this.

as I watched Kathy.
I used to hear Tavis Smiley occasionally on NPR but that's the first time I think I've seen him. An intelligent and civilised interviewer. And Wes got into some areas that I haven't heard so much of before. Loved the comments about how people can be good and sincere but wrong!
And his assessment of Bush at the end was very incisive.
Thanks for the vid, Ruth.
You'd be taking them to the Better Business Bureau if you bought a washing machine the way we went into the war in Iraq. Wes Clark, CNN Aug 17 2003
that Tavis instigated using the best and brightest minds in the Black community on "The Covenant with Black America." It was awesome--stimulating, realistic, thoughtful, unsparing, uplifting, inspiring-- and I bought the book.
Wesley K. Clark at his best; excellent interviewer - Tavis. I love Wes's new suits and ties, very spiffy!!!! His knowledge, wisdom, experience, and personality all excellently represented here. This interview should be spread far and wide. Thank you, thank you for this contribution to all things WKC!!!
I meant that maybe PBS would finally SHOW the discussion they video'd yesterday/last night/this morning.

Kyl Lieberman has been giving me such a headache lately it was nice to see Wes in this kind of setting.
I was actually able to vid this one, but haven't watched it yet--but I'm so glad you posted it here.
Tavis is one fine and smart man!!
The General gets it right.
Competence--What a concept!

I'll say.
"You've said a 1,000 things I'd like to follow-up on here, but....." not enuff time.
Ain't that always the truth. :)
Thanks again, Ruth....

spectacular in this interview.
His great looking pin stripe suit did not gap away from his shirt's collar. His tie was exactly the right width and had the right size knot to fit his statue.
All of that and charming and brilliant too.
Why o' why?...you know the rest...

when he started buying new shirts with different collars; it changed his whole appearance proportionally on camera;
it was when he was still with Fox; that has been the biggest difference in his appearance improving on camera;
clothes all look alike on guys ( you all notice the nice differences ) but FIT is important;
synthetic environment Giuliani uninformed on foreign policy his sentences consist of a noun a verb and 9/11. - Sen. Joe Biden

he has a new tailor; suit is better
synthetic environment Giuliani uninformed on foreign policy his sentences consist of a noun a verb and 9/11. - Sen. Joe Biden

This IS a classic. Thank you so much, Ruth!!
Once in a while you get shown the light, In the strangest of places if you look at it right.
I wish more people would seriously interview people. Tavis Smiley is very good.

You FOUND IT! Hasn't made it to DC area yet!
He prays that the good Lord would give gw some what, wisdom? Me too, and a ticket to elsewhere.
