General Clark on O'Reilly Factor Discussion Thread (10/3/05)

Should be great.

For the record, I avoid Faux News like the plague and refuse to buy anything they advertise. I know my little protest will not count for much, but it makes me feel better.

Dildo O'Really is pure scum.

I do look forward to see another video being posted here soon.

on O'Reilly's program and from the excerpts of Geraldo Rivera's program that I've read, I think it's time General Clark brings these types of interviews over to the other networks.

The discussions he has been having in the past two days should be heard by everyone within earshot.

I think it's time his people started moving him over to the other networks.

The situation in Iraq is being overshadowed by too many other issues and it's time to bring it back to the forefront. General Clark needs to do this.

Right black women are going to vote for Condi over Hillary just because she is black. If this is how the GOP does outreach it is no wonder they are unsuccessful - how wrong and how utterly condescending. African-Americans are perfectly aware of how the GOP operates with regards to putting for African-American candidates or appointees.

Submitted by Vicky on October 3, 2005 - 8:43pm.

Tan suit, green (?) tie, white shirt - looks like he's from LR. He continues the three "legs" he's mentioned so often before and notes the Bush administration has never handled the diplomacy part. Notes the administration doesn't want to talk to Syria and Iran, but we need to. Bush made it clean Syria and Iran were next. Our mission is being held hostage by the neighbors. We've got to talk to the neighbors. Wes says we can go into Syria and start "working it." BO says he agrees it's workable in Syria, but not in Iraq. Wes asks if Bill has been over Iran. BO says no. Wes says he's been there and there all elements there who want to talk. We need to do it by finding common interests - no one wants a major war in Iraq. BO disagrees. Wes says that Iran can't win a war in Iraq. You've got Saudi Arabia, Jordan, etc. who are willing to use Al Quaeda when necessary. We need to work on that regional dialogue. Get them to guarantee Iraq's border. BO doesn't think it will work. But does seem to think it's worth trying. Wes says we've got to engage Iran. We need to talk to people before we bomb them.

caught my ear.....excerpt from FrenchieCat's posting at DU...
"Wes asked O'lielly if he had been to Iran and talked to the leadership there. O'Lielly...."well I've been close to there..."
LOL!"

"Wes said, well I've been there, and several Iranians wanted to talk to me."

The "several Iranians wanted to talk to me." literally jumped right out at me. I watched the repeat later and that is exactly what he said.

I think this is most significant for General Clark to be saying this. There are Iranians who wanted to talk to HIM.

This must be the part that was supposed to be explosive. BO doesn't want any more pictures (Hellerstein, Newsweek?) to be published. He chides Wes saying Wes knows what war is like. Wes responds angrily, no, the army he's been a part of always followed a chain of command and torture was not allowed. They were to follow the Geneva Conventions. BO argues over him (tries to, ha, ha!!) and refers to Viet Nam. Wes argues over BO and tells him those people were court-martialed, torture was not allowed. Wes wants a full investigation. He wants to see the pictures.

Obvious (and angry, though controlled) disagreement here. But BO cannot roll over Wes!! Wes stands his own. Wes stands for integrity!! Woo-eee!! This is the man we need to be president!!

Green tie
Always take 3-legged stool- military, politics, diplomacy.
First year- leg one, military. Now have political, constitution. Must work diplomacy- Turkey Jordan, Kuwait-no problem. Syria , Iran a problem. We let Syria and Iran know they're next They have no incentive to talk to us. Mission held hostage by neighbors.
Can start working it. Bashir has 9 intelligence working against him.
Have you been to Iran? Have you been there?
People there want to talk. Can you do it so it doesnt look like weakness.
Must find common interest. No one wants a war. Iran can't win that war.
In Southern Iraq Iran calls the shots, but not the whole country.
A lot of countries use al Qaeda when it suites them. It doesn't suit them here.
Reagional dialog, train forces, step back as regional protector.
Iran most difficult. Nothing wrong with talking to people before you use force.
A lot of us don't know what's in abuse photots. Captain in 82nd said torture was condoned by his unit. Army I served in did not beat up and torture people. Those who did were punished not condoned by chain of command. Volunteer fighting war on terror. They need to live up to American values. We need a complete investigation right up to White House memos.
Not having Geneva Conventionn enforced put troops in danger,. Can 't win war on terror by torturing people.

The world is always going to be ruled by people who want to rule the world.

Also - broken record here - we need to write to Fox and tell them we are glad that the General is on their shows.
