Submitted by ms in la on January 29, 2008 - 7:57pm.

UPDATE: CNN is salivating about the "Obama train" right now with live shots of Obama in Kansas... (why?) and they have coanchors weighing in on how important the Kennedy endorsement is. Woman projects that if Obama doesn't get the nom- blacks and youth will not be voting.
-------------------------------------

We have what I can now call a media trend.

If it goes forward, we can expect this:

Every Hillary endorsement, every win, every upward tick in her numbers will be greeted with either silence, or will be diminished.... hereafter referred to as the 'Beauty Contest' paradigm. If she wins big- she will be accused of stealing the election somehow. If she wins by small margins - the coverage will zoom into the narrowness of that margin and she will be 'hanging on' to a precarious lead, unable to rest on her laurels.

BO, on the other hand, will be all about Joementum, ooops- I mean momentum. He will be crowned with great glory for each and every victory- regardless how small. The win will be the focus- we'll see these victory speeches with throngs of energized Change sign wavers and chanters. And PAY ATTENTION to the crowd miking. This is how they killed Dean by pulling back the ambient crowd sound and hiking up his microphone. With BO it's the opposite. Each rally will have crowd mikes at max (11 for you Spinal Tap fans!) Reporters will have to scream above the din. It's what the CIA does when they stage rebellions too. To make a crowd appear overwhelming. Clinton crowds will be softly miked.... if at all! Her voice will boom out over their muted background noise.

Each BO endorsement will be seen as a miraculous achievement (which is probably more racist than anything Bill Clinton has ever said) but nevermind-- it will be celebrated as historic, groundbreaking and don't we all feel so much better about ourselves now? Additionally- it will be portrayed by our friends with the heads-that-talk as yet another nail in the Hillary campaign... like Drudge who had her packing it in just before New Hampshire -- that's what they will play on.

The scripts are written. The talkers will be waxing enthusiastically over the young Barack's successes. SOMW will be "who?".

I feel fairly confident saying this now after watching these past weeks. I think we all need to take notes ... and write letters. Not sure what else we can do at this point. The behemoth hath chosen and it aint our lady... We're going to be up against a lot of power here. One good thing is -- anyone who's paid attention these past years has figured out that the media aren't to be trusted and that they 'manufacture' much more than they 'report'. :(

Notes from the Underground

We're getting late word on the subterranean Dem campaign going on in the last few days in Florida. A mailer went out from the Hillary-backing AFSCME. And a Clinton surrogate, Rep. Corrine Brown, did a robocall run for a state initiative that happens to mention that she's going to be supporting Hillary. Meanwhile, Obama's allies are in the mix too. Unite, an Obama-backing union, has also sent out a pro-Obama mailer.

If Florida hadn't cheated, Florida would have gotten 210 delegates, 121 from the CDs, 64 at-large pledged delegates, and 25 unpledged PLEOs.

I predict that the DNC will relent at least partially and give Florida some voice, but maybe not all 210.
