HELP FELLOW ARKANSANS RECOVER FROM THE TORNADOES
DONATE SUPPLIES AND VOLUNTEER WITH THE YOUNG DEMOCRATS AND DEMOCRATS WORK ON SATURDAY
Join the Young Democrats of Arkansas and Democrats Work to help the victims of this week's devastating tornadoes. There are two ways you can help our neighbors in need:
(1) Donate much-needed supplies. Here are the items that are needed: basic camping supplies (blankets, sleeping bags, tents); water; clothes; winter hats, scarves, gloves; food and drinks; diapers; heat sources; toiletries; flashlights; and batteries.
If you can, please drop off supplies at the Democratic Party of Arkansas headquarters (1300 W. Capitol Street in Little Rock) on Friday (or bring them to one of the gathering spots listed below on Saturday).
(2) Come to Clinton this Saturday to clear debris and deliver the supplies. Democrats of all ages will be gathering at two spots and carpooling up to Clinton with the supplies and ready to work:
8:15 a.m. in Little Rock: meet at the parking lot of the UALR School of Law (1201 McMath Avenue)
9:00 a.m. in Conway: meet at the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on Highway 65 (take exit 125 off of I-40, heading east)
If you know you are coming, please send us an email at
or sign up on the website. Also, if you are going to volunteer in Clinton, please brings gloves and protective eye wear if you have them.
All are welcome, so please spread the word.

At first, rescuers thought it was a doll. Then it moved. In a grassy pasture strewn with toys, splintered lumber and bricks tossed by the tornado's widespread wrath, 11-month old Kyson Stowell was lying face down in the mud, 150 yards from where his home once stood."It looked like a baby doll," said David Harmon, a firefighter who had already combed the field once looking for survivors. Then he checked for a pulse. "He was laying there motionless ... and he took a breath of air and started crying."
The field had already been combed once for survivors, and finding anyone alive seemed improbable. Hours after the storm, there was devastation everywhere: The body of the boy's mother was found in the same field, houses were wiped to concrete slabs and a brick post office was blown to bits. But except for a few scrapes, Kyson was fine.
