The evidence is overwhelming.

Democrats are being gamed........and by all accounts, loving it! :/

Blue Lyon has compiled evidence that clearly shows a concerted effort by Republicans to game the system.

It's all there.....plain as day. But do the Dem hierarchy see it? Do the supposedly savvy Big Bloggers?

Hell no!

They are so immersed in their Obama euphoria that they are completely delusional. They actually tout his Republican votes as evidence that he can win the GE. Really!

Here are some snippets. But you really have to read the whole thing.

Anecdotal evidence in support of a Republican manipulation is everywhere. Remember the recent Obama win in Maryland? Nicole Price, the Maryland political director of Obama's campaign told the Washington Times that when she arrived in the state to ramp up the campaign. She found "a home-grown campaign already thriving." Republicans backing Obama had put more yard signs in Maryland than in South Carolina and they had paid for the signs "themselves."......

snip

According to the Washington Times story, Daniel B., Chance, a retired oil man, voted for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee in the Maryland Republican primary in the morning. He then spent the afternoon making calls from the phone bank at the Obama campaign's Baltimore County Headquarters in Towson.

snip

In Nebraska, the mayor of Omaha publicly rallied Republicans to caucus for Obama on February 9th. And according to CNN in Iowa 44 percent of those voting for Obama were Republican.

And of course, Obama is taking full advantage.

.....the evidence is starting to mount that that the Obama campaign may be encouraging these "Democrats for a Day" strategies. And the GOP is happily playing along.

That's why "Democrat for a Day" was launched this spring by ObamaFlorida2008. Using the official forms provided by all Supervisors of Elections offices, you may re-register as a Democrat for that one day -- when the primary is likely to be held -- on February 5, 2008. You must do so before the end of 2007, to make sure it is done 30 days before the primary.

But this is not about some "hard sell" to recruit voters to become permanent Democrats. Not at all. After the primary, you may re-register back to the
Republican or Libertarian parties, or revert to your previous status as an Independent! There will be plenty of time before the general election in November 2008.

We are being gamed and there are enough people in my party who so want Obama to win that they are willingly deluding themselves that these "new" Democrats will be standing with us in November

I agree, this is a must read...another snip with a link that should also be read at Anglachel's blog called "Fights Worth Having"...

snip - Political parties are about partisanship, and there's nothing wrong with that. Democrats and Republicans have unique world views and beliefs in the best use of government, its responsibilities to the people it serves, the best use of our military, our resources, regulation, etc, and we need to be able to draw upon those distinctions when selecting our party's nominees.

We need to be able to sell our unique points of view to the voters, not mush it up into some non-palatable bipartisan mush. Yes, there are places where we can work together, but there are places where we have to draw our lines in the sand and make our case. As Anglachel puts it, there are "Fights worth having."

These are the battles that are fought when it seems we are just doing some policy wonkishness. The details matter. The concessions matter. There are points on which there cannot be compromise, where unity is not just undesireable but a mark of failure.

This is why I am supporting Hillary Clinton. She's not unwilling to work across the aisle, and in fact, has effectively done so. She just isn't willing to give away the store. - end of snip

... is absolutely spot on.

Hillary has won the Democratic votes overwhelmingly.

Another doofus conclusion was reached by Matt Stoller who wrote after Maryland that Obama had overtaken Hillary on the "womens" vote. ?????????

Well, duh. It was Maryland. The "women" that he was talking about were African Americans.

The demographics have never changed. BO wins the AAs, wine rack liberals and Republicans.

Hillary wins Democrats, the working class, non AA women and Latinos

The Republicans and Indies will vote for McCain in the GE and AA's are only 15% of the electorate.

But the Big Blogs rarely talk about this. It's all about how BO is attracting Reps and Indies.

Their short sightedness never fails to amaze me.

Hillary has won the Democratic votes overwhelmingly.

I'm not sure this is true. I can't find anyplace that combines the exit polls, but looking at them individually it appears whoever wins the state tends to win the Democratic votes as well, though there are some close states that meet your criteria. There are some states where Clinton wins Democrats by a few points and Obama wins independents by a much larger margin, but there are others, particularly in the south like Georgia, where Obama wins Democrats overwhelmingly.

It may be true that Clinton has more Democratic votes than Obama, I can't tell, but it certainly isn't overwhelming.

I just gave you a link go Georgia, where it isn't true, so you can't say "every exit poll". I also gave a few links where Clinton wins Dems, but not "overwhelmingly" nor "hands down". I'm trying to be honest, but clearly some here are not.

Here are the states Obama won the Democrats (I don't feel like linking them all, but you can click on the first link above to see the lists of states):

Alabama
Connecticut (close primary, it appears)
Delaware
DC
Georgia
Idaho (I assume with 80% of the vote, no exit poll)
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas (I assume, with 74% of the vote)
Louisiana
Main (I assume, with 59% of the vote)
Maryland
Minnesota (I assume, with 66% of the vote)
Nebraska (assumed, 68%)
North Dakota (assumed, 61%)
South Carolina
Utah
Virginia
Washington (assumed, 68%)

So, that is 11 states including DC where Obama won the Democratic vote according to exit polls, 7 where there was no exit poll but Obama won by large enough of a margin it is safe to assume and Connecticut, that doesn't as the question about party officiation so I'm guessing they were all Democrats.

That's 19 states (including DC) where Clinton did not win the Democrats, out of 33, leaving Clinton only 14 states where this might be true (16 if you count the states Clinton agreed to not count). While I'm sure none of these 19 actually count for some reason or another, can we at least put the "Clinton always wins the Dems" myth to rest?

Clinton won Dem majority in NH +11, MI +18, NV +12, FL +17, AZ +10, AR +49, CA +19, CT +2, MA +17, MO +2, NJ +14, NM +4, NY +23, OK +28, TN +18.

I didn't count the red caucus States where Obama cleaned Clinton's clock, as most of them didn't do a breakdown of voter registration.

The Republicans have been backing themselves into a corner where they are nothing but a Southern party, at least in terms of presidential contests. I think most of the West is in play this year.

I hate to burst your bubble. But there is no way in dodge that Obama will carry those states in the GE. Especially KS. He won't carry my state (neighboring state) Oklahoma either. And I'm pretty sure he will lose in Red States like Texas as well. And you can forget about Michigan and Florida. Especially if those delegates don't get seated at the convention. Now how fast is it you can say Hello President McCain? The thing is now that the GOP is pretty sure that MCCain is their nominee choice they can come and play in all the remaining open primaries and caucuses.
Oklahoma is a Closed Primary State which Hillary won.
Now is for hoping Hillary takes Texas,Ohio, and PA.

And as a lot of Obama supporters seem to have it in their heads that somehow all these big wins in these states is going to translate into a landslide for Obama. I bring up Oklahoma because I live here. Red State with a closed Primary. And the Texas Primary is the first week in March where Hillary has a chance of winning. Colorado is the only big maybe in the picture. Only because it was trending purple last time. I don't look for any Republicans to be changing their stripes soon.

mad4clark's picture
Submitted by mad4clark on February 19, 2008 - 8:49pm.

In fact, on Super Tuesday, 295,952 more primary voters cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton than for Obama, yet somehow neither the Obama campaign, nor the media, was paying much attention to Clinton’s lead in the popular vote. If we include all the states that held primaries before Super Tuesday (NH, SC, MI, FL) Clinton was up by 468,024 votes—that was 2.51% of the total votes cast. But talking about that number was not a media priority either.

Only now that Obama has a miniscule lead of 128,736 in the number of votes cast (and that includes assigning all the “uncommitted” votes in Michigan to Obama) has the media focused on total votes cast. This lead represents less than 1% (0.62%) of votes cast in the primary elections held so far, yet it is trumpeted by the media endlessly.

But, since this is actually the Democratic primary, perhaps we should look at how Democrats have actually voted. Based on the available exit polling data, we find that Hillary Clinton has a commanding lead over Barack Obama in the number of votes – As of February 16, 2008, 391,992 more Democrats voted for Clinton than Obama.

That number does not include results from the District of Columbia, because of a lack of exit polling data. If we include DC, and assume that 100% of the voters were Democrats, Clinton still has a lead among Democrats of 333,981 votes.

But that number also doesn’t include Florida. Add in Florida’s Democrats, and Clinton’s lead advantage increases to 565,684. Nor does it include Michigan; and even if we assign all the Democrats who voted “uncommitted” to Obama, Clinton’s lead among Democratic voters grows to 678,276.

In terms of actual Democratic voters, the numbers from Super Tuesday are astonishing – and were, of course, ignored by the media. Out of over 12,100,000 votes cast by Democrats that day, Clinton beat Obama by nearly 7%, and just short of 837,000 votes. And if we include all the primaries that took place before Super Tuesday (NH, SC, MI, FL) the Clinton advantage among Democrats rises to 7.5%, and well over a million votes.

As Democrats, it is our votes that should be the determining factor in a close race. We’re the voters that the party can depend on, and ignoring the will of Democratic voters can lead to Democratic voters ignoring the will of the party.

*********************

Perhaps more to the point is the question of which states these votes are coming from. Are they from potential “swing states” – states where 5% or less of the electorate determined who won the state’s electoral votes in 2004? Are they from states that are outside of that 5% margin, but where its still close enough that a Democrat should make an effort anyway to ensure that the GOP candidate has to divert time and resources there, rather than concentrate on states where Democrats hold an edge? Or are they from states where one party has a lock, barring a complete landslide?

On the whole, Clinton has done far better than Obama in the swing states. In deep blue states, its been about even, but in deep red states, Obama has dominated. This raises the question of the extent to which primary voters in states where a Democratic nominee has little chance of winning should be able to determine the party’s nominee.

The Obama campaign, and now the media, are arguing that “super-delegates” aren’t supposed to determine who the nominee will be. But in a close race, who better to determine which candidate will be best for the nation, and the party, than the professional politicians and party activist who best understand how elections work.

And while legitimate arguments can be made on both sides of the “super-delegate” debate, there is simply no question that the system was not set up to allow the nominee to be chosen based in very large part on primary and caucus victories in states that Democrats aren’t truly competitive. The very idea that a 12 delegate advantage from a state like Idaho trumps an 11 delegate advantage from a swing state like New Jersey should be anathema to the party. Nor should racking up a combined 449,000 vote advantage in the “practically impossible to win” states of Georgia and Alabama be considered more important than a 416,000 vote advantage in a competitive/must-win state like California.

Yet this is exactly what the Obama campaign is arguing --- that the reality of the electorial college map should be irrelevant, and that only raw vote totals, “pledged” delegates, and the number of states won should matter to the super-delegates. And the media simply repeats this argument without question.

The candidate selection process is not, as Obama would have it, “majority rules”. During the primary season, its “supermajority rules” – in order to assume the mantle of nominee for the Democratic Party, a candidate has to get 60% of the pledged delegates awareded in primaries and caucuses. The Obama campaign has demonstrated an unsurpassed mastery of the rules governing the primary season – while the Clinton campaign was been concentrating its efforts in those states which will be the key to a victory in November, Obama’s people put considerable time and effort into racking up delegates in a slew of states that require a national landslide for a Democrat to win in November. As a result of this strategy, Obama now has a lead of 124 in pledged delegates from the states that have h eld their caucuses and primaries.

But having taken full advantage of the rules to acquire that lead, the Obama campaign is now demanding the 60% of primary/caucus delegates rule be ignored. At the same time, he insists that delegates from key states like Florida and Michigan, because those states didn’t “play by the rules”.

It's one thing to work the rules to your advantage. But Obama is now working the refs in an effort to have them forget that there are any rules at all.

There's just one problem with that argument; neither the nomination nor the general election are decided by popular vote. The nomination is decided by delegates and the general election by electoral votes. I don't like the system but that's the way this country is run.

Democrats are the base. You can count on their vote in the GE

BUT.....you cannot count on the the Indies and Republicans that voted for Obama. Some may stick with him, some may go with McCain.

This is the main reason we NEED to seat the delegates from FL and MI. We cannot afford to have the Dems in either state stay home because they feel disenfranchised.

AND....the Superdelegates need to look at the Dem popular votes not the total popular votes....because these are the voters that will come out in November

So even though the GE is determined by delegates not popular vote, the delegates are not proportionalized (Not a word, I know). It is winner take all. So Dems coming out for the vote DOES matter.

I agree that you have to start from a solid base. And I'm sure that the super delegates will look at the popular vote in their home state (when doesn't a politician look at votes?). But its close to impossible tell how many Dems voted vs independents and cross overs. Exit polls aren't all that reliable.

I also agree that some solution has to be worked out to seat Florida and Michigan, but not necessarily based on the votes that were cast.  To different degrees both states had flawed primaries.

I'm sure there are a variety of ways one can parse the data to show that Clinton should be winning.

The argument over superdelegates has nothing to do with the rules. The supers should vote for who they think is best for the Democratic party. But if someone has a clear lead in the elected delegates and popular vote the supers would be insane to reverse that. It is bad for the party to reject the will of the people wholesale. When the same guy also leads polls among Democrats and against McCain, it is doubly insane.

General Wesley K. Clark Endorses Clinton

The Clinton Campaign today announced the endorsement of Ret. General Wesley K. Clark.

"The world has reached a critical point, and we need a leader in the White House with the courage, intelligence and humility to navigate through many troubling challenges to our security at home and abroad. I believe Senator Clinton is that leader, and I whole-heartedly endorse her for President of the United States," General Clark said. "Our economic and national security has become more complicated than ever before, and we deserve a leader who draws on wisdom, compassion, intelligence and moral courage - in short, we need Hillary Clinton. She is tough but fair, a rock-solid leader equal to the many weighty challenges ahead of us."

After 34 years of service in the United States Army, General Clark rose to the rank of four-star general as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. General Clark commanded Operation Allied Force, which saved 1.5 million Albanians from ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, and he was responsible for the peacekeeping operation in Bosnia.

General Clark's awards and honors include the Presidential Medal of Freedom, The State Department Distinguished Service Award; the US Department of Defense Distinguished Service Medal;(five awards), The US Army Distinguished Service Medal(two awards), The Silver Star, the Bronze Star (two awards), the Purple Heart, and Honorary Knighthoods from the British and Dutch governments.

After his retirement in 2000, General Clark became an investment banker, author, commentator, and businessman. He is the author of the best selling books Waging Modern War: Bosnia, Kosovo and the Future of Combat and Winning Modern War: Iraq, Terrorism and the American Empire.

"I am deeply admiring of General Clark’s record of leadership for our country and his appreciation of the complexity of the world in which we live today," Clinton said. "I’m looking forward to his involvement in my campaign and working together to bring the change this country needs."

I think I also just read that it has a 29% African American population, so for those people who embrace identity politics, a handicapper might advantage O! substantially going in. ?

Actually Georgia's result is a bit weird, if you ask me- for example, Clinton seems to have raised considerably more money than O! there according to CNN

Top Candidates: Georgia $ Raised
Hillary Rodham Clinton$452,780 Barack Obama$150,435 John Edwards$55,852
Also, if you "click" as you say on some search strings such as:

Georgia electronic voting

Georgia electronic voting 2008

Georgia black box voting

you may find those results of interest.

And then there are those little things like- MI & FL.

Is Obama really willing to sacrifice the party for his own self-aggrandizement or is he actually deluded enough by his own press to believe that these Republicans will vote for him in November? I don't want to believe these things about him. I want to believe that he's a decent man but that I prefer the other candidate, but how can he not see this or at least be concerned about it?

It wasn't easy, but I think the Democrats have managed to figure out a way to lose this election.

I think that that DNC should prohibit open primaries and caucuses. They should enforce a rule that in order to vote in a Democratic primary or caucus, people must have been registered as Democrats for at least 30 days. No more election-day switching.

I truly don't know what the answer is. Maybe an insurgence of the rank and file?

He's proud of the fact that Republicans are voting for him. He brags about it.
So, either he's going along with this because he just wants to win the nomination, or he believes that they will vote for him in November. If he believes it, then he's deluded. I know it's very difficult to disbelieve something that's flattering to oneself, but he's not doing himself or the country any favors if he wins the nomination this way. He needs to address it and the Democratic Party needs to look into it.

He's sufficiently self-absorbed to believe he's the chosen one. He really believes that Republicans in these numbers will cross over to elect him, one of the most liberal Senators.

This makes me wonder about something. Our county recently had major voter snafus on primary day. Mega turnout (Republican leaning county), ran out of ballots, long lines, people leaving without voting or voting on scraps of paper. The Republican leaning registrar made a public comment that much of this turnout for BO was "crossover voting". So many were upset that he would make such a political statement and questioned how he would know such a thing. Hmmm. Could this have been a strategy of local GOP committees? Or were we the recipient of Obamamania?

I work in the entertainment business. I know a little bit about what fame does to people, especially sudden fame. When everyone is gushing about you, it's very difficult not to believe it. It's very difficult to believe that there's anything you can't do. It's very difficult to believe that they may not mean it, and you never think that they'll turn on you.
But they always turn on you.
As soon as Obama secures the nomination, the media's going to turn on him and they'll take the fair-weather supporters with him. The Republican 'supporters' are going to be gone, and the Republicans will go on the attack. The fact that people don't know much about him will just make it easier for them to believe the attacks.
Now, Obama might or might not be a decent man - I don't know - but he's not an extraordinary man like he's being made out to be. I really don't think he could survive all that.
I hope that he's just deluded. If he is, then he can wake up. If he isn't, then he's in on it.

"thwarted terra attack" away from being swiftboated into Muslim - Madrassa Hell, and it doesn't even matter that most of it won't be true. Since when has that stopped a pounding GOP swifting campaign? It only need be just "truthy" enough to make it stick. And then it's repeat repeat repeat repeat-- voila! It moves from truthy to true! IF (big if) people are suddenly shocked anew with something... they can revert to reptilian brain islamophobia in a New York minute. NOTE: Another video or audio from the great hi-tech Bin Laden Cave Production House does not count-- They have totally lost their punch in the shock and awe department. It would have to a foiled plan or ..... don't want to even speculate.

Throw longtime buddy Rezko into the mix and his Iraqi and muslim ties that are seeded internationally --and you've got a Karl Rove Perfect Storm to play Swifty with. Even if his name was Senator John Doe.

And as usual... I really hope I am wrong about all of this. :/ And I know it would be slimy, dirty tricky and below the belt to pull these kinds of tactics out. Just like our republican friends have shown they like to campaign.

PS: Were I an Obama supporter- that kind of smear campaign wouldn't affect me one way or the other... but that's just me.

I have been warning Obama supporters I know here all about what is going on. And they refuse to believe it. They think if there is anything corrupt going on about Obama now that our good media will report it. I reminded them about who owns our media. And what they did to John Kerry. I told them what would happen if Obama is our nominee. What happened to John Kerry will look like childs play. It's not being reported now (about Rezco or any other thing that maybe in hiding) because the time isn't right. They wait until he is our nominee and the sharp knives will come out.
I'm glad my state already voted though. And had the good sense to go for Hillary. I think I may go into hiding if Obama is our nominee. And you all can wake me up when its over.
But for now I'm sticking it out with the other Clarkies and just hanging unto my own hope that Hillary is our nominee.

In fact Chris Bowers and Josh Marshal have pieces up pushing the superdelegates to go with the "popular vote".

Sounds very democratic and fair doesn't it?

The thing is, the "popular vote" includes votes from thousands and thousands of Republicans who gamed the system, just like your friend.

I agree with eriposte ......

However, the kinds of comments I've quoted above are the proverbial last straw for me. After all, as Bush-AWOL researcher Paul Lukasiak has shown, Sen. Clinton actually leads the popular vote cast by Democrats. She is trailing the overall popular vote right now because of independents and Republicans who cast votes for Sen. Obama in the Democratic primary - not because Sen. Obama won the popular vote among Democrats (because he did not). So, for Bowers, Marshall or others to claim that Democratic superdelegates or DNC Chairman Howard Dean or the Democratic candidate (Clinton) who has the support of the majority of Democrats who have voted so far are the ones splitting the Democratic party by insisting that superdelegates follow the rules set by the Democratic party - is beyond nonsensical. It borders on sheer arrogance. If anything, posts like theirs only give me reasons to question my continued association with segments of the so-called "progressive" movement, especially after having observed how a decent, fellow Democrat (Clinton), who is largely similar to their favored candidate (Obama), has been treated by this movement over the past couple of months.

No one wants to believe this -- at least the "progressive/liberal" Dems who support Obama don't -- and we can quote, link and scream 'til we're blue in the face, but the only way they're going to believe it is IF O wins the nomination, and gets thrashed in the GE. When all those Republics and Indys don't turn up in Utah, North Dakota, etc. to cast their vote for a Democrat, THEN maybe they'll figure it out. Maybe. Although if there's a way to blame it on Clinton, they'll find it.

WASHINGTON, Feb 18, 2008 (AFP) — It's one of his funniest campaign jokes, getting huge laughs, but it underscores what could be absolutely crucial to Barack Obama's White House hopes: the fact that some Republicans secretly back him.

"There's one right there, an 'Obamacan,' that's what we call them," the Democratic senator declared last week after winning primary contests for his party's presidential nomination in Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia.

"They whisper to me. They say, 'Barack, I'm a Republican, but I support you.' And I say, 'Thank you. Why are we whispering?'"

"Republicans fall in line"

That's why it wasn't just one or two corppress pundits that came out sporadically here and there gushing all things Obama and repeating repeating repeating he was the one they FEARED! He was the one who could beat McCain. He was the one who would topple the republicans. And look! We've got this poll right here to prove it!

He was... the One.

No it wasn't a few. It was the whole "staff" of White House stenographers. It was in orchestrated synchronicity... one per day for a week or so. Same talking points, same words even. Same chills from the Great Oration. One after the other. If you looked closely- you'd note these were the same mouths that sold us the weapons of mass destruction and the innocence of Scooter and a million other lies we decried for so many years. Yeah look! Same guys. But hey, they loves them some Big O. They can't be all bad!

And one by one- the republicans fell in line with the top 5 O! talking points. While at the same time they fell into another line....lining up in stealth to vote for him. The one they so feared would beat them.

So few Dems even stepped out of their enthralled state long enough to ask-- Why would the republicans be openly exposing their election vulnerabilities to millions of democratic voters on the TeeVee and radio like this? They're usually operating in the shadows - covert. Why the sudden sunshine? If that's not a thing to make you go Hmmmm.... what is?

But a thought like that can hurt a brain. And can interrupt the free flowing dopamine release that is providing us with our Feel Good quotients for the season. No. Will not go there. Too hard. Too icky. Too bruised. Too battered to go to place of pain and ask questions. Need to feel goooood.

Yeabut....

Did you hear that:

McCain missed 50% of his votes during this session of the 110th Congress?

Obama missed over 40% of his votes.

And Hillary missed 25% of her votes.

Hmmm. Not that voting on Bills is all that important for a US Senator.... That's just the "people's business"...

State. It's the new equivalent of Federal this season.

Lobbyists

State / Federal <==== nothin' to do with each other.

Turns out State lobbyists = good guys
Fed lobbyists = bad guys

Take notes.

who knows this stuff make an accurate list of what either has done in the US SENATE, not counting whatevers in the IL Senate, his high school debate team, boy scout troop 12, and kindergarten nap time. Also, it would be nioe to post a list of O's PRESENT votes in the IL senate - and just what it is that he missed. He's definitely not noted for his hard work as a legislator. He was running for president 5 minutes after his convention speech in 04. Or maybe before.

NOBAMA! There's no there there.

Hilzoy at Obsedianwings did this, but he eventually came out for Obama (for wonky reasons), but unfortunately I can't find the link. From what I remember they mostly changed the names of various post offices in their respective states. (Sad, but true.)

Found it

Also, apparently Hilzoy is a female, so I got the pronoun wrong above.

Any discussion of the popular vote is meaningless with so many caucus states. Many fewer people attend caucuses than vote in primaries. And caucus attendance doesn't tend to represent the people at large very closely.

We didn't complain about the Republicans who found Clark preferable to Bush. But we did complain about all the Republicans who voted for Dean who thought he would be the easiest to beat. Same song, second verse.

decide my votes or decisions. Remember when they laughed and said Dean becoming DNC was the worst decision ever?! That he was gonna tank what was left of the party?
Well 2006 proved otherwise didn't it?
What about when Bush Sr said Gore was "an enviornut" who if had it his way "would have americans out of jobs while being up to our necks in owls"
Now Gore is the world's most respected leader when it comes to climate change.

I could go on and on...

You changed the subject about four times. There was strong evidence in 2003 & early 2004 that since Bush was unopposed, Republicans flocked to Dean in open primaries to get the weakest candidate nominated.

Dean skyrocketed to the front of the pack at first because of his message. Anyone can make the case that repubs voted for a certain candidate to "sabotage" our primary. Just as you can make the case that repubs voted for the same candidate because he/she simply won them over.
Besides, according to you the repubs plan failed to get Dean nominated and guess what we still lost.
ALSO, all the right wing talk show guys like Hannity etc...have been actually making the opposite point....that Barack is actually the strongest candidate and that are hoping for a Hillary nomination.
Either way, it's a mistake to pay too much mind to the primary "sabotage" effects.
I think HRC Or Obama or both capable of beating McCain.

That's because they love him and aren't faking it. They really wanted to vote FOR him. That is the thing Dems don't see. Stupid is as stupid does.

They aren't voting for BO because they love the guy but because they hate Hillary.

John Kerry was a vet with war wounds. He bled. They made a steak into ground meat, for gawd's sake. Why? They do not like him. BO has maybe had skinned knees in childhood. Not only is he not a vet, he is anti-war. He is anti-nuke. He is anti-gun. He has no national security experience, none. Zero. They will roast him.
