"Hillary, Hammond, and History" and Hooray for those Hoosiers!

Hillary Clinton | Indiana | Jobs | Steel | Democratic politics

My dad worked at a steel mill in Indiana and saved up enough money to start his own business about 20 years before I was born. Hard working people, those Hoosiers. They deserve a hard working President.
Hillary Clinton speaks at Hammond Civics Center 1
This was such an exciting rally! You could feel the energy from the moment you entered the buiding. She is such a down to earth, caring lady!We need her in the White House!
Indicative of both the support and the curiosity surrounding Clinton, the line at the Civic Center queued up at 6:30 a.m., despite the cold.
Black, white, Hispanic, young, old, blue-collar and white-collar, they came from throughout Lake and Porter counties, joining the who's who of Lake County politics, saying they liked Clinton's talk of affordable health care and support of education.
"I believe we could again put thousands of Americans to work rebuilding America"
Clinton complained about the amount of American defense manufacturing outsourced to other countries. The magnets that guide our laser missiles used to be made in Indiana but are now made in China, she said, and that's not good for America's security interests.
"We're going to get back to producing what America needs for our national defense"
Some questions for the people in the crowd.

I've got to admit I've got a very good feeling about all this. Hooray for those soon to be history making Hoosiers! They are now on the path to bringing our troops, our jobs, and our country back home!
This is more like BO's "pre-surge" numbers and, hopefully, spells a reversal in the perception that he can win!

of all the states, Indiana will never vote for a Democrat in the fall. I don't mean to be a wet blanket (there are Democrats in Indiana, but mostly transplants from somewhere else...).

Indiana is sandwiched between the very blue Illinois and swing state Ohio. I've never understood why Indiana is so red.

because it's so rural, according to my Chicago-born, political junkie husband. IL has pro-union cities, he claims, that make it Democratic. And, of course, most of its big cities have significant black populations. (WV is also rural, but very pro-union.)

Republican ticket, Indiana voted For the Democrat!
Just say'in. ;)

Wes Clark could still secure America as a national security candidate.

I hadn't looked at Survey USA. Gallup, Rasmussen, and ARG don't have a recent Indiana poll.
