Florida and Michigan Deserve to be Heard!

Barack Obama | democratic party | Donna Brazile | Hillary Clinton | Howard Dean | Tom Daschle | Call to Action

The DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee meet April 5.
That's only two days off, but there is still time to let the powers that be know that not counting the votes in FL and MI will not stand.
If you have not already done so please sign Hillary's petition, Florida and Michigan Deserve to be Heard!
It also wouldn't hurt to call your Representatives to let them know how you feel about counting every vote.
Dean said yesterday that FL Delegates Will Be Seated but nowhere in his statement did he say the votes would be counted, and of course the fly in the ointment is that both campaigns would have to agree to the solution.
Well, we all know where Obama stands on that
Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle, a supporter of Sen. Barack Obama,.................told CNN’s Gloria Borger that the Illinois senator would like to “give Florida the opportunity to vote” - but not in a way that would change the overall outcome
In other words he will not agree to any proposal where the votes count.....period!
As someone commented over at TL....
Why should the candidates have a say in settling the Fla./Mich. fiasco? The Obama campaign has already proven they will do anything to win, there is no way Obama will agree to have Florida/Michigan votes counted.
Dean and Brazile should apologize to voters in Florida/Mich. and admit....WE HAVE SCREWED THIS UP...and count the votes.
Being an former Floridian (of 17 years) ...this commenter at TL says it all for me.
[new] i am sorry but no you are completely wrong.. (5.00 / 1) (#145)
by fly on Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 01:20:53 AM ESTi was a Edwards Volunteer i traveled to Iowa and SC and i worked my butt off..for Edwards, i was a co-captain of a large caucus for Edwards..this has nothing to do with one or another candidate, this has to do with my vote.
This has to do with my husband and son having their votes stolen by the republicans since 2000..because of their hispanic name.
This has to do with my being a poll watcher at large in Fla to make sure minorities are not disenfranchised by republicans in this state of Florida.
This has to do with me being a tester of the DRE voting machines , and seeing votes flip and docunenting it by film.
This has to do with 18,000 votes disapearing in 2006 from a democratic candidates race for congress.
This has to do with democracy.
And this has to do with the democrats now stealing our votes.
and today and 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006 votes being stolen in Florida and Ohio..
and today it is my vote..tommorrow it may be yours.
how would you like to be told some guy who thinks rules are ok for one candidate to break but not the others..or one state like South Carolina can break the rules and go unpunished but my state gets punished..because one state favors one candidate and the other favors the other candidate.
This is bullshit.
this is not democracy.
this is illegitimate!
oh and if you do not stsnd up for my vote to count, don't even think i will stand up for yours, no matter who tries to steal your vote.
I remember people risking their lives to vote and have a purple finger.
I know people in Pakistan just risked their lives to vote.
I know my dad fought in WWII for my vote.
I know my husband wore the US Army uniform for his and my vote and our sons vote.
I know when i go down stairs and all the retired vets who sit at my condo pool fought for their vote..and i know the largest block of Vets in the nation are in my state of Florida ..they served this nation for our votes.
I live near the headquarters of this war..and tonight another of our soldiers from here died in Iraq. They have the right and have earned it, to have their votes count!
and no Dean or Donna Brazile should have the right to steal my vote, nor the votes of US citizens to chose our nominee for our presidency!
this is an utter disgrace.
Getting new voters into the Party is great, but losing long time Dems....the ones who year in year out vote Dem ticket (not just Dems for a day)...... in the process, is just plain dumb.
Let the DNC know. how you feel.

We need to get the word out
"A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood of ideas in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people." JFK
the DNC should give Rove-buddy Brazile the gate. How she finagles her way into these positions of import is beyond me, as I have never seen any reason for her to be there.
Then Howard Dean needs to be put on notice; keep it impartial or you will be removed, as well. Time to have some accountability for serious mistakes. But accountability seems to be a dirty word in politics.
For the good of the Democratic Party, Obama must drop out - NOW! He is no longer a viable national candidate.
and her appearances on Wolf Blitzer's news show...several weeks ago, she lost her temper and declared that she would leave the party if the "will of the people" isn't respected--in other words, if Obama isn't chosen. A week or so later, she had toned it down to a threat to step down as a super. I thought at the time that if she doesn't want to carry out her duty as a super--which is not to rubberstamp--she should resign right then. Every time I've seen her since, she's drawn in her claws a little more, proclaiming basically that the Dems have to be patient and let it all play out. A couple of days ago she even defended Hillary to the point where it sounded like she believes she may well be the nominee. (Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part!)

...this fiasco was all Brazile's doing.

If you want to read some interesting stuff about Donna Brazile's role in all of this...go skim through the comments section here on this diary at Taylor's place. Lots of links to articles and appearances and stuff:

If you were the suspicious sort and connected a few dots it could appear Ms. Brazile has been "herding" things in this direction for a whle. I just happened to be reading these earlier during lunch.

to "d"emocracy. We should be writing whichever station it she appears on to can her a** like they did Carville and that other Clinton dude.
btw, marinerfan, how the heck do you keep up with the comments at Taylors?
Once in a while you get shown the light, In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

jen. Donna Brazile is on CNN.
Skim. I can't keep up with all the comments at TM. Used to. But she has grown so much since bloggers have left the other blogs and come to her all I can do really now is skim. There are posters there who have posted for a long while and particular posters I like to read. And I look for any new scoop and tidbits. That's about all you can do to keep up. I used to post there once in a while but there is just so much I rarely do anymore. Sometimes I do post to the "Hot Topics". There is alot of good stuff in those posts too.

Mr. Dean’s criteria for choosing his 25 members was “to get a diverse group of people from all walks of life,” said a party official, who added that the “process of choosing these 25 began last fall, when many of the 25 appointed members were uncommitted.”
“I don’t think they explained that to us beforehand,” joked Dean Aguillen, a lobbyist who was appointed to the committee by Mr. Dean. “It’s something that came up later, and you started learning some of the processes of the convention.”

it's hard to even comprehend. Did you watch the TDS video? the link is at the noquarter link- couldn't grab it. Hundreds of millions of dollars, millions of voters, and it comes to this?
Why does the Democratic Party again so suddenly & so vividly seem more than ever like a front group for the mob? You know, the legit laundromat, the back office of which is where the bookies operate from.

I also got notice by email today that George Soros has a new book coming out. I guess some people just can never have enough. Money, power, whatever.
Proud to be an American.
do the candidates have any say in how this is solved? They should be the last to have a say, because obviously they will refuse any solution not favorable to their campaign. Beyond having a say, they, or "he" has claimed veto power. Ridiculous.

Here's a snippet from the article:
"The most important group has yet to be heard from: the Committee on Rules and Bylaws of the DNC. It can exercise the same interim authority that created the Florida-Michigan problem to propose a way out. Its co-chair, James Roosevelt, Jr., (grandson of FDR) has been quoted as saying that a significant minority of his committee are more committed to the institutional party than to tactical advantage for either campaign. That remains to be seen."
