Factcheck.org finds Obama ad and email to be misleading.

Obama himself misleads Pennsylvania and Indiana voters.

Hillary's campaign agrees with Factcheck.org, and is now running this radio ad to counter the misleading Obama TV ad:

ANNOUNCER: In his TV ads, Barack Obama sounds like he'll take on the oil companies. "I don't take money from oil companies."

What he doesn’t tell you is that “no candidate does….they cant,” according to the Annenberg Center’s Factcheck.org...It's been against the law for companies to donate to candidates for a hundred years.

Listen to Barack Obama some more. "Now Exxon's making forty billion dollars a year and we're paying three fifty for gas."

Obama also doesn't mention that he voted for the Bush Cheney energy bill. It was called a piñata of perks and the best energy bill corporations could buy. Hillary Clinton voted against that bill. She’s the one who will make the oil companies pay to set up a new strategic energy fund that will cut our dependence on foreign oil, invest in new clean energy, and create five million new jobs. It's time for a president who takes on the oil companies in real life, not just on TV. Hillary Clinton.

about it on cable "news." Hillary would be raked overr
the coals for saying someething like that.

This latest jump in oil prices seems to be caused
by a lower than expected amount of oil reserves.
That's the second time I've noticed that there was
unexpectedly less oil in the oil reserves that led to a
jump in oil prices.
The question(s): Less than expected? Where did the
unaccounted for oil go? How do we know that the amount
they say is there is the correct number? Wouldn't they make a nice profit by under-reporting the amount to boost
crude oil prices? For starters....

it's just another way of saying that the excess of demand over regular supply was greater than expected, thus eating into reserves (which is sort of like our on-hand inventory). "Strategic reserves" may be less than total "reserves". I don't know, but would think that was worth checking out also, because if we are truly dipping into "strategic reserves" often enough for you to notice it twice, that's a very serious matter.

And yes, it's terribly irritating that the media just ignores so many of O's distortions - like this one and also his oft-repeated exaggeration about always opposing the war in Iraq. That's why I send this sort of info to my email list - as well as posting it here. We have to keep on fighting, like Wes said.

Take a look at the Dollar vs Euro chart here:

http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/currency/13/12/twelve_month.stm

A year ago, 1 Euro bought roughly $1.30, while today it buys $1.58; therefore, the Dollar has declined roughly 20% against the Euro in the past year. What this means if you're OPEC and don't want your revenue blown by a devaluating currency is that the price of oil is raised roughly 20% just to stay even with the currency. So, a barrel that cost $80 last year would be close to $100 without even figuring in the supply/demand of oil itself.

And also why I'm glad I got back to Ireland in 2006. It was expensive then, but now, omg!

And this is the #1 reason Big Tent Democrat (Armando) at Talk Left claims he is a "tepid" O supporter. He believes that even if O gets the nomination, the media will continue to be soft on him and so he has a better chance than Hillary of winning the GE.

I tend to think he's conveniently forgotten how the media treated Gore and then Kerry. Anyone who thinks the Repubs and thus the media will be "soft" on the Dem candidate has simply not been paying attention.

I think the media is giving him a pass to ensure he IS the nominee. Then once he's up against McCain, the hounds will be released and he'll be called out for all his past lies as well as whatever he has stored up to use in the GE.

What's absolutely killing me is that so many in the so called progressive blogosphere actually trust and believe the media because they seemingly "Love" their guy. It'll be like a bucket of ice water hitting them in the face when the press finally turns on him, if he gets the nomination. And I have to admit, a part of me will be laughing my a** off. But not for long, because in November we're all going to be crying in our beer when McCain is elected.

I will add though, that I don't think Hillary's through and I have every confidence she's going to pull this off and be our next president! With our General as her VP! :D

As General Clark told ms in la -- we HAVE to keep fighting for her and for him.

...is paying attention to this....

You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them... And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

He's going to do a special speech in IN to address this....just like he had to so a special speech about Wright.

We will now see a special edition of W.O.R.M.

Just what we need, yet another speech from O trying to explain that any fuss isn't his problem, it's just that we "typical Americans" have another problem that it's his responsibility to point out to us, uniquely qualified that he is to do this. ; )

Hillary Clinton delivered the following statement at a "Solutions for the Urban Economy" town hall in Philadelphia, PA earlier today.

"I saw in the media it's being reported that my opponent said that the people of Pennsylvania who faced hard times are bitter. Well, that's not my experience.

"As I travel around Pennsylvania, I meet people who are resilient, who are optimistic, who are positive, who are rolling up their sleeves. They are working hard everyday for a better future, for themselves and their children.

"Pennsylvanians don't need a president who looks down on them, they need a president who stands up for them, who fights for them, who works hard for your futures, your jobs, your families."

Elitist. Snob.

This isn't a "gaffe". This is a pattern. "alegre" has a good post up at MyDD with some of his related "gaffes".

http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/4/11/235425/329

"typical white people" don't turn to their guns because they are bitter. None of my neighbors are bitter. They're happy they're able to live the way they do and very easy going for the most part. Live and let live. And I may add...many, many more people are seeking out this way of life. For the most part they use their guns to "put food on their families"...some because they have to....some because that's what they like. They actually like venison. News flash. And as for turning to religion because they are bitter??? Come now, Mr. Arrogant Elitist Snob. Is this opposed to the filthy hateful slime you sat and listened and nodded your head in agreement to for 20 YEARS? Yeah...thought so.

It's not just the Rust Belt or Midwest you find small town rural America. You find these people in every state. And good old Barack in his ignorance has offended them. I do so "hope" this gets huge play in MT and ND.

I believe this guy has deep issues with our country and it's people. Yes...I most certainly do. I don't think he thinks very highly of either one. And I'll be damned if I'm going to support promoting someone who thinks and feels this way to the highest office in the land. Wake up Democrats or he will take you straight down the toilet with him.

Republicans have been very successful running against Democrats they can paint as effete, intellectual, snobbish, or, worst of all (for the Democratic Party) "effete intellectual snobs".

Nick.

Repubs won't have to work very hard painting this guy into what they've been saying Dems are for years. Paint by number. Heh. The Dems are handing one to them on a silver platter...for now.

Rural bread and butter and blue collar hard working lunch bucket Dems aren't going to take too kindly to these remarks in what's left of the primaries either....I hope.
