ALL LINKS OPEN A NEW WINDOW!!!

Tax day is around the corner and so is the Pennsylvania primary and its attendent debate. (Rumor has it that JOHN MCCAIN will be debating himself on who is supporting AQ in Iraq.) The dynamic disfunctional duo MATLIN & CARVILE and their respective party counterparts SHRUM & MURPHY will clog your NBC channel on Meet the Tim. The Brick TeeVee crew recommends skipping this one unless you're into this kind of self-flagellation. This George has JIMMY CARTER on from Nepal and STEPHEN HADLEY continues his part to rewrite history. Former Iran-Contra figure and current SoD ROBERT GATES spins happy stories about "The Surge" on Face the Bob and MADAME SPEAKER PELOSI shoots holes in his double-speak. U-Boat Captain Blitzer has grudge matches between JOE BIDEN & RICHARD LUGAR and BOB CASEY & EVAN BAYH. Save your bricks for prime target JOE "my servers were hacked" LIEBERMAN also on Late Rendition. TOM DASCHLE goes to the Dark Side on that "fair and imbalanced" network. Watch Steve Croft explain where your tax dollars go in Iraq on 60 Minutes. Seder is TBA on the guest list and Massa in the Morning will keep your sanity. Don't forget Part Two of Ring of Fire's interview with CHALMERS JOHNSON and talks with HOWARD ZINN and ROBERT RIECH. The Brick TeeVee crew continues to stare blankly at the piles of Schedule A's, Schedule C's, 1099's and the 1040 long form amid piles of various receipts, bills, charges and empty pizza boxes hoping they would all just fall on the forms themselves. We wish there were boxes where you can check what programs your tax dollars can be assigned to. If the IRS did THAT the Pentagon wouldn't be able to pay its light bill much less garrison the planet!

referred to Bush's travel and attendance at the Olympics as being connected to the problems in Nepal, not just once, but three times. Steph did not notice it, or at least did not try to clarify it. Are these people engaged in anything besides raiding the treasury?

I no longer listen to any Sunday punditry- I close the door & blast Billy Bragg, Bach, go out walking, run on the elliptical, hit myself in the head with a hammer, whatever to drown out the sound of the circle je talk shows. So there I was, hot mug of coffee to deliver into the Tweety room. So my honey says, "Bob Shrum (honey makes the sign of the cross as if to ward off vampires) mentioned Wes as Obama's VP again."

Bob "Crashed from Within" Shrum. Thinks it would rock to slap a real President with actual national security chops under Barack to prop him up.

Niiiiiiiice.

I really really really really really really really cannot believe these people. Let's make the O! palatable & gird him up with a military Southern white guy, but throw the lady liberal with whom he has a long association under the bus. Now, why would the O! need that?

IS IT PERHAPS BECAUSE HE IS COMPLETELY UNSUITED TO THE TASK AT HAND, AND SOME OF YOU ACTUALLY KNOW IT?

Submitted by ms in la on April 13, 2008 - 11:49am.

I had about the same morning.( Well- minus the eliptical perhaps) :)

Hubby blaring the talkers - me doing anything but, to make it through... is it 9:00 yet? Is it November yet? Is it 2009 yet? Is it Monday?

He runs downstairs thinking I'm going to really LIKE this! (he made no cross but I appreciate the gesture your hubby made)Tells me the VP line and waits for my happy dance. And waits. Waits...

I was link searching the other day for Ellen who wanted my transcript of the Jamie Rubin phone call with Wes and the so called press about the Samantha Powers Iraq comments.... and I remembered I'd posted the transcript over at that Dkos diary that was all about a O!/Clark ticket. So being easy to find comments there, I went back to snatch it for Ellen.

Oy.

I reread the comments of Clarkies, former and not, about Wes. It was painful. And I checked to see who was rec'ing which comments too... Even more painful. The things said about Wes there exemplified this bloodthirsty feeding frenzy mentality amongst Obama acolytes- Oh, did I say "acolytes"? Sorry, I meant supporters... That was probably racist. You can see how quickly and eagerly this incredible man- Wes Clark- could be made into just more of the day's fodder for the daily meatgrinder - for something HE NEVER SAID.

HE NEVER SAID.

No matter.

The gist of the sentiment over there (and at DKObama the gist is what spreads like a grassfire- God forbid anyone should "dissent" from the CW at DKO!) the gist was that --

"Sigh. Too bad. Wes might've been the guy to run with the One... but now he went and ruined it by almost saying something that he never said but that we as a mob have concluded and ruled, all on our own with our superior psychic talents, that he would've said had he the opportunity and the means... sigh. There goes another one. Into the dust pile of history. Shame.

He intonated something that at a certain angle, in the right light, with a few artificial visual aids-- might be able to be loosely interpreted as a possible, yet not fatal, but certainly harmful criticism of the One..."

Then in true O! fan Queen o Hearts Fashion, they declare: "Off with his head!" And Wes becomes just another ball to kick around, in the vicious Mad Dogs new national sport of Impale the Public Servant!

To throw in the heap when they're done kicking it around with the other "traitors": Ambassador Joe Wilson, Valerie Plame, Larry Johnson, Robert F. Kennedy Jr, Maj General Paul Eaton, Ellen (!) and whomever else had the audacity not to pledge allegiance to O!

Guess they will just have to seek out a more suitable Four Star, Supreme Allied Commander, Rhodes Scholar, Master of Philosophy and Economics, all around hero type person to share the ticket with the beloved O! and boost his national security creds even higher than the grade school years spent in Indonesia. One who has perhaps a higher standard. Gee, why don't they go for Obama/ McPeak? There could be two Mc's running in one race. He would surely appeal to all those Republicans O! is after from his being a co-chair for Bush/Cheney in 2000 and a State Chair for Bob Dole earlier. And as for the 'attack dog' role of the VP- who could be more of a dog? And an attacking one at that? He's ideal! Why look outside the home corridors when you've already got your own General on staff....

That was my Sunday AM rant exercise. I do hope I've not offended anyone or "attacked" anyone ... :)

I think it was MTP press this morning where the panel was talking about potential running mates and it was mentioned that Obama thinks that he pretty much has foreign policy experience covered by himself and thinks of himself far more knowledgable than McCain or Hillary.

Like being an Illinois state senator or being a chairman of a subcommittee that you never call into hearings makes you a foreign policy guru.

If O! wins the nomination, my prediction would be Judas for the VP spot as a futile attempt by O! to hold onto some Hispanic votes.

When it really will be about the economy stupid (not you!)... check out the economic stats of New Mexico and the buck stops at the Gov's desk. See this post I put up awhile back on that.

It's his fatal flaw this election season. Unless it becomes It's the War, Stupid... I think it would be a big mistake to float Richardson. Because Barack is also not known as an economic guru... And he's saddled with that skeery Goolsbee neo-liberal professor at the Univ of Chicago (shudder) as his Senior Economic Advisor...

Unless he's outing him about NAFTA to the Canadians... in which case he is swiftly demoted to: "Just a professor who is involved with the campaign on a casual basis and speaking in an unofficial capacity."

I think he has to pick someone with some economic savvy to appeal to the vast middle class who are drowning in debt and looking for solutions.

My god- every time I think: This is it, Democrats can't be any dumber, can they? They outdo themselves.

Defoliate: I take your point.

But I've gotta say if this person becomes the Dem nominee he certainly needs Wes Clark. In the Air America interview that aired yesterday WKC was the most forthright & direct about the reasons why he couldn't put together a run.

It just kills me to see this person who seems to be skating by on the thermals created by big media - the beneficiary of 15 years of salting the Earth with anti-Clinton narratives (no, the Clintons nor the Clinton era were perfect, not by a long shot) who because she's in the race, will NOT refute them - or, does he share that point of view, as he suggested to we bitter Pennsylvanians ...

"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama said. "And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

I have been told: Hillary endorsed McCain (she didn't)

But it's okay for O! the channel Ronald Reagan, etc. & he is always given the benefit of the doubt.

I have been told: Hillary wants to wreck the annointing nomination so she can run again

I mean, really, there is no end to "what I've been told" about the evil machinations of Hillary Clinton.

Kills me to see the tried & true passed over for the flavor of the month & a risky rebranding scheme that waters down the Dem brand to a shocking extent. Purple- the new blue. An atrocious shade of purple, I must say.

For being so powerless, it is amazing what the Clintons have the power to do. The terrible Clinton machine is gonna gitcha! If O becomes the nominee & loses, then that will STILL BE THE CLINTON'S fault.

The Clinton's are even more evil now that they have made 1/3rd of the $$$ of somw in the last 10 years, mostly through writing books & speaking engagements.

However, as much as I have developed a bit of a distaste for this arrogant dilettante the fact is he is so deficient & so clueless & so desperately needs the guidance of those few in a position of true moral authority & hands on life experience & deeply considered philosophical issues , the few like WKC (none like him but I'm saying there are a handful of relevant thinker/doer/implementers/planners/negotiators) and our troops & this nation desperately need the wisest possible remaining course out of the terrible options left plotted for us in terms of America's real national security post haste that the skilled & wise may very well have to serve as training wheels for The One.

I think we're going to hit a wall & it isn't going to be pretty.

I just have to try as hard as I can not to tangle the potential messenger with the message. Take the teaching not the teacher? My problem is I don't think he can win & I'm not sure what you get if he does.

What's sadly funny about this is I never hear, even from her worst detractors, that HRC can't do this job, or that she wouldn't be a good president. Seriously. In my opinion, HRC & WKC would have a tremendous working relationship where she is being enhanced & reinforced, not expressly PROPPED UP.

US GIs in Iraq suffer worst week of '08

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed an American soldier in Baghdad on Saturday, capping the bloodiest week for U.S. troops in Iraq this year. Clashes persisted in Shiite areas, even as the biggest Shiite militia sought to rein in its fighters.

I think you summed up everything I've been thinking about this when you wrote:
"My problem is I don't think he can win & I'm not sure what you get if he does."

I couldn't have said it better, Blue! That's what's really itching me. Maybe he's being set up for the HUGE economic fall we will certainly have coming down the pike. It's all very perplexing to me - the Clarkies that have daggers out for The General on Daily Kobama, the quizzical Mass Media making mountains out of molehills, the adoration and fan-dom for Obama, and the constant decades old Clinton bashing repeats, all of it. Toss in the crazy voting machines and questionable caucus rules and participation and it makes my head spin!
