Keep Fighting, Hillary

Democratic politics
Keep fighting, Hillary. In spite of the hand wringing in some quarters, I think this fight is not only good for the Democratic Party, but it's much-needed. You stand head and shoulders above your competition in your talent, intelligence, mastery of the issues, and leadership. The way the DNC has handled Michigan and Florida, the way it has contrived to marginalize truly good candidates and promote inferior and inept ones, is typical of the way business has come to be done in the party, and, for that, the party needs a good shaking up.
The punditocracy has tried mightily for a long time to prematurely write the end of the nomination story, so why should we expect anything different now? Howard Dean et al would love it if you listened to those pundits, if only so they wouldn't have to face the consequences of their own incompetence when Michigan and Florida try to force their hand.
Yes, this is a tough fight, but this is where champions are made, and you have shown that you are a champion of the people.
So keep fighting the good fight. We're in this with you.
scrappiness, feistiness, toughness are not enough, some people here were predicting a 12% Hillary landslide in IN and a 5% win in NC. Such predictions proved to clearly be false and showed a level of arrogant over confidence that shows a complete break from reality.
The nomination is slipping away from Clinton with six contests left to go. The time has come for a recognition of some inconvenient truths.
Barack Obama has weathered the worst of the storm of Rev. Wright, and the wind is now back in his sails, he has improved his standing among whites, not by much, but the important thing is he has reversed the trend. Rev. Wright hurt Obama there is no doubt about that, but he was not mortally wounded.
Clinton can go all the way to Denver if she wants to, no one can stop her from doing that. But at what price? President McCain? War with Iran? The destruction of the Democratic party?
The Clintons have faced rough waters before, and their courage in the face of seemingly impossible odds is commendable. But at a certain point "courage" becomes madness and being a "fighter" serves no purpose other than to delay the inevitable. How does Hillary Clinton serve the party, much less the country by going down with all hands in a desperate bid against all but impossible odds to try to somehow upset the outcome.
If Rev. Wright is fading into the background and Obama improves any among whites after his win he has lock this down, she must win WV and KY by 20% plus, and somehow keep Obama below 10% in Oregon to have a shot at winning the popular vote [even with FL and MI seated and fully counted].
20% in WV and KY is not impossible, it's a longshot with Obama coming off a big win, putting Rev. Wright largely out of commission and Hillary's campaign running on fumes in the fianance department. It won't be easy but it is possible. However keeping Obama below 10% in Oregon... it simply is not going to happen, she is out of money [a $6.4 million loan is not an encouraging sign] and must, absolutely must not let her margins slip in WV and KY. In short this is a situation tailored to Obama's advantage. He has every chance to absolutaly smother her with ad buys in KY and WV and she lacks an offensive capacity to go after him in a meaningful way in Oregon. And if she hits him [the now presumptive nominee] too hard she risks offending the supers.
The odds of her keeping Barack below 10% in Oregon are almost nil. If he makes WV or KY even remotely close, say 10%, or if he blows her out by 15 to 20% in Oregon he wins the popular vote, and this is assuming MI is counted the way Hill wants it counted, which gives her 300,000+ free votes because he nets no popular vote from MI because he took his name off the ballot in respect of the DNC rules.
In short Hillary's campaign, Sen. Clinton herself as well as her supporters are banking on what many here have railed against with regards to Obama and his supporters. They are banking on hope, and a hope that clearly has little grounding in fact.
Sometimes admitting defeat takes more courage than taking the ship down in a hubristic battle of wills, fighting to the last man in a futile effort. Sometimes being a "fighter" is not a virtue.
I hope Sen Clinton And Gen Clark are wise enough to know when to pick and choose their battle and accept reality as it is. It would be truly sad to see the inevitable Hillary Clinton end her campaign as the Dem version of Mike Huckabee.
Hillary will help the American People more than McCain and certainly more than Obama. She has the knowledge, intellect, strength, focus, and compassion. She better keep fighting. She can do the most good as President. It's where we need her to be.
Obama's campaign have used the Racecard and the extremely biased MSM to do so well in the primaries. MSM tried to make him the next "Messiah" and the opposite was done to Hillary.
The MSM was critical of Hillary so much that it was to the point that she couldn't say or do the slightest thing without a lashing out at her. They (MSM & Obama spinners) were even critical of her laugh calling it a, "Cackle." OK - use a word that makes people think - "Witch" which they then want the people to think the B word. It's either that or get people to think she's faking a laugh. No matter which way people look at the accusation, Obama supporters are thrilled with it.
We NEED someone to fight for us. That's what Hillary is doing day in and day out. She's showing us how tough she would be against the Right-Wingers in the General Election. She WON'T BE SWIFTBOATED! She'll win the swing states that will give us a victory.
Neither candidate has the delegates that they need - period. The nomination is in reach for both of them. Hillary would be crazy to stop now. Her support is growing and growing. People are beginning to realize Obama is not prepared to President and he's out of touch with average Americans. They are realizing that Obama doesn't live up to the hype. Hillary would do the best in the General Election, but more importantly - she's the most prepared to be President.
There's the race for the popular vote and there's a race for the delegate count. They both matter. This race should go to the end so the superdelegates see who is the strongest finisher. Who are the American voters turning to; who is most qualified to be President; and who can win in November. Hillary wins every aspect of the race.
Bottom line is - Hillary knows she would do the most good for the American People. No matter what type of BS, propaganda, or biased-beating against her - she'll get up in the morning ready to fight for the American People once again! The Obama people are trying to convince the voters that the race is over. Hillary knows better. She won't quit on the American People! She's working for a victory so she could lead the American People to a better life!
I will definitely stand with Hillary with the utmost love, support, determination, and gratitude.

Because I don't want to have to choose between the middle finger guy and the guy who called his wife the c-word.
Wes Clark Democrats...let the Clinton campaign know who sent you
James Mitchem says,
'Barack Obama has weathered the worst of the storm of Rev. Wright, and the wind is now back in his sails, he has improved his standing among whites, not by much, but the important thing is he has reversed the trend. Rev. Wright hurt Obama there is no doubt about that, but he was not mortally wounded.'
That may be true. However, there are still the
potential bombshells of Renzko and Ayers, especially if Renzko is convicted.
I think some elements of the media, such as USA
Today, may be waking up:
1. Obama is not all he has seemed to be.
2. There may be some juicy stories that can
be wrung from this.
If the media, and/or Sen. Clinton or McCain think their is political gain from these issues, then Obama might not be able to withstand these additional attacks, even with his current delegate lead.
but aren't telling the public! Hillary could be using this in any argument against his nomination. I still think there's some reason that his lackeys continue to urgently insist that she DROP OUT NOW. The Repubs are probably holding back some bombshell to drop in case he gets the nod. And I don't think BO has weathered the worst of Rev. Wright. A lot of Americans almost certainly have not heard everything he said to the press club--yet. I consider myself a liberal thinker, but I was deeply offended by his making fun of white people and, as someone of Celtic descent, his insulting insinuations about the Irish. The cheering and egging-on by the mostly black audience angered me. There's a feeling among many middle-of-the-road whites that, if blacks get in high power, they will get "pay-back". (There's no purpose to be served by avoiding this sensitive topic.)Obama can seem like the most non-racial person on the planet, but if whites perceive him to be under the influence of chip-on-the-shoulder people like his preacher and wife, they will fear his power. (A woman called in to Washington Journal this morning with the opinion that BO is controlled by his wife.)

Just take a look at the Austin American-Statesman today.
Front page and editorial - all about DROP OUT NOW
Talk about kicking somebody to the curb....
where if you say anything that doesn't go along with what certain people want or believe, you are labeled a racist. Now why is that???
If you say anything negative you are a racist. If you say you are going to vote for someone other than O! you are a racist! WHY????
Fortunately, I've stayed out of the whole mess, but others around me have not, and they've been labeled and complained about in every way possible.
Thanks O! for uniting everyone...IMHO he has made things much, much worse than before. HE played the race card, and boy did it work for him!
Not in the GE, though...sadly, I'm predicting McCain will win.
I will NOT vote for O! ever again...nor will I vote for any of the IL Dems who tried to steal IN from Hillary. My district is extremely Republican so hardly a Dem ever runs anyway, but I think this fiasco will make it even more rock-solid Repub.
On the bright side, I feel much better after sending Hillary $50 this morning through Wes' page! :)
Neither candidate will attain 2209 delegates through the primaries; it is likely that the delegate count will be split very closely, as it has been, and that the superdelegates will have an enormous responsibility- we've known that for some time. They will need to take a long, hard look at this entire nomination cycle (having an electoral map on the wall would be helpful), and how the candidates have navigated through it. Seems to me the compasses all point to Hillary. They signed on for the job, now it's up to them to actually do it.

winning some "pledged" delegates in the remaining six contests, and getting more Super D's to commit to him. The very dangerous thing for the party would be for the idea that 2025 is enough to nominate to remain dominant in the media. If we don't get Howard Dean and company to understand and say that nothing less than 2,209 votes will be acceptable, O could be crowned the nominee by the media before all the Super D's have voted, and two months before the actual convention! That would be like Bush declaring himself President before all the votes in Florida were counted. Very difficult to reverse. that is why I keep plugging my diary. We urgently need a very strong grassroots effort to get this 2,209 magic number idea around as widely as possible.

Wes Clark could still secure America as a national security candidate.
I guess it won't matter what the winning number is! He was even on the air explaining that he'll have "the majority" by May 20th, so....
He's not coming to WV or KY, swing states the Dems will need in Nov., and as for the voters in OR, MT, and SD? What the hey! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!! How can the DNC countenance this? Only by being in his corner, of course! Howard Dean should already be on TV decrying BO's intentions! Hopefully, all the voters in the remaining states will be up in arms.
And what will BO do in Nov.? Just declare himself President? Or why not Emperor of the Americas?!
I agree, Nick, that 2209 needs to be the standard. The super d's would need to start moving in large numbers for O to attain the smaller figure by June, don't you think? The questions: are enough of them wise enough to see what is going on, do they care, and do they have intestinal fortitude? Dean and company, I don't think will "understand" anything unless they are put to the fire.
As for the media, the majority have been crowning O, repeatedly, for quite some time. But the amazing Hillary and the voters keep frustrating them, don't they? Hillary and her team, with their positive fighting attitude, can do a lot to influence things. I liked what she was doing in West Virginia today!

Former President Clinton said it best. "They keep saying it's over and burying her, and she comes fighting right back."
This won't be, CAN'T be, decided without Michigan and Florida. If it is, I am going to think seriously about crossing the aisle, as the Democratic Party will no longer have the right to bear that proud name. Certainly, the national party will never get another cent from me as long as I live.
to talk about. If just mentioning white voters causes the press to brand you a racist, speak even more loudly. If most of the party wants to live in Ozbama, tell them what the real world is like--because they'll find out when McCain wins by a landslide! And I hope, if BO is given the nod, George McGovern is standing right there beside him when a red flood starts to sweep across John King's map!
