The Real Prophetic Candidate

Ultimately, Hillary will emerge from this election as the prophetic candidate, not Obama.

No matter what happens, no matter who wins, she has forever blazed a trail for women, for girls and for leaders everywhere.

She has stayed focused on her agenda, despite attempts to throw her off.

She has run her campaign her way and she has stayed in on her terms.

She has stood up to, and, more importantly, ignored the juggernaut of hatred, fear, suspicion, rage, name-calling and mean-minded vilification that would bring your average person to their knees.

She has exhibited the ultimate of grace under pressure, always focusing on the people she is trying to serve.

She has remained genuine, interested in peoples' lives, their stories, heartbreaks and needs, committed to using her outstanding gifts to make their lives better.

She has come back from certain destruction, again and again and again, always moving forward, regrouping and WINNING. The very day that rigged press stories were breaking and her opponent is "clinching," was Hillary holed up at home or crying in a hotel room somewhere?

She was not. She was winning. Again.

Obama? His "historic win" is, like it or not, is tarnished. History may laud him as the first African-American nominee (if scandal doesn't tank him first), but his "win" will be forever regarded as gaming the system, political backstabbing and chicanery. In his effort to grasp the brass ring, he has left himself open to scathing attacks from his opponent. "He couldn't even win in the primary without changing the rules!" and out will come all of the distortions and lies about how morally bankrupt the Democrats are.

And his "prophetic candidacy?" Obama is a gifted speaker, but there really isn't anything new about his candidacy. He's a secular preacher, following in the great tradition of other African-American orators - W.E. DuBois, Adam Clayton Powell and so on, throughout American history. As a nation, we are comfortable with superb African-American male speakers. The difference is that he has focused his attention on the garnering of secular power for himself.

Contrast that with Hillary, the lonely pioneer. We have no model for who she is, for what she is. She knew - she had to have known - how hard it would be, how hated she would be. She had to have realized somewhere in there, just how stacked the deck was - and she went ahead and did it anyway.

That's the actions of a true prophet. And no one can take that away

Yes.

Try to get it published.

You nailed it.

I'm saving this comment - also printing it out. Hillary's character is truly outstanding, remarkable, and exemplary. It doesn't mean she is a saint, and doesn't make mistakes, but her strength and courage are already legendary.

Try explaining to your elderly World War II generation, Democrat since Roosevelt mother why this great lady had to step aside after 35 years of exemplary public service and proving beyond a doubt that she was by far the superior candidate to win in November. Why did her own party leadership throw her and a record 18 million strong under a bus after she had withstood so much for so long? So much anticipation, hope, and promise for real change and professionally managed good government over the next four years, gone. For what? The disappointment of women of her generation probably can't be put into words.

It's enough coping with my own disappointment and the huge sense of betrayal I feel toward women of my own age who supported Obama.

I guess an incompetent man will trump a competent woman every time.

Thanks, all of you who posted.
