VIDEO: Dan Abrams asked about Hillary's primary loss "Is it the media’s fault?"

Hello Everyone:

Here is the very interesting Verdict with Dan Abrams video link from last Friday, June 6 where Dan Abrams asked this key question to his panel about Hillary's primary loss "Is it the media’s fault?"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/25012605#25012605  (07:21)

Is it the media’s fault?
June 6: A new poll shows that more Americans think the media favored Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton.  Can this be one of the reasons she didn't get the nomination.  Dan Abrams is joined by Newsweek's Jonathan Alter and Clinton campaign senior advisor Lisa Caputo.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/25012605#25012605  (07:21)

Here is the transcript link of this video with the excellent opening points that Dan Abrams made and where biased media pundit Jonathan Alter made this unprofessional and stupid comment to Dan Abrams about Bill and Hillary Clinton "There‘s a larger group that just thought that it was time for them to move offstage and in a natural cycle of things:"

'Verdict with Dan Abrams' for Friday, June 6
Read the transcript to the Friday show

Guests: Chuck Nice, Laurie Kilmartin, Dave Zinczenko, Lisa Caputo, Jonathan Alter, Kamala Harris

DAN ABRAMS, HOST:  "Hillary Clinton will officially suspend her campaign tomorrow and endorse Barack Obama.  But her shots at the media are sure to continue.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON, (D) NEW YORK:  Even when the pundits and the naysayers proclaimed week after week that this race is over.

And you know - all those people on TV who are telling you and everybody else that this race is over.  Those are all people who have a job.

There are some folks, you can see them on TV every night, who wanted it to be over for me after Iowa.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

ABRAMS:  According to the new poll, many more Americans believed that the press favored Barack Obama than Hillary Clinton.  And just listening to Bill Clinton, you get the idea.

(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)

BILL CLINTON, FORMER UNITED STATES PRESIDENT:  It‘s part of the national media‘s attempt to nail Hillary for Obama.  It‘s just the most biased press coverage in history.  It‘s another way of helping Obama.

(END AUDIO CLIP)

ABRAMS:  Look, I have to say I‘m not sure it would have changed the outcome but there‘s no question to my mind that Clinton got tougher treatment than Obama from the media.  I said it months ago, I still believe it now, more than ever, that many in the mainstream media simply dislike the Clintons.

Lisa Caputo and Jonathan Alter are still with us.

Jonathan, do you disagree with me that many in the mainstream media simply don‘t like the Clintons?  They‘ve covered them for a long time.

JONATHAN ALTER, NEWSWEEK:  I think there are some people like that.  There‘s a larger group that just thought that it was time for them to move offstage and in a natural cycle of things..."

I completely agree with this bottom line conclusion that Dan Abrams made when he said "Look, I have to say I‘m not sure it would have changed the outcome but there‘s no question to my mind that Clinton got tougher treatment than Obama from the media.  I said it months ago, I still believe it now, more than ever, that many in the mainstream media simply dislike the Clintons..."

I also strongly agree with these comments that professor Carol Swain made about Obama and how the media "drive the masses:"

LOU DOBBS, CNN ANCHOR: "Carol, it looks like Senator Obama is claiming the nomination without doing so. What's your reaction?

PROF. CAROL SWAIN, VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY: I think the media claimed it for him a long time ago. Nothing new, no surprises...

No, it comes down to the media and what they say and how they drive the masses..."

Race, sexism, Obama's highly charismatic oratory skills, and some Clinton campaign mistakes were also responsible for Hillary's primary loss in my opinion BUT I definitely believe that the overall majority of the blame for Hillary's loss is because of the biased media who hate Hillary and who gave Obama a near free ride on his gaffes and inconsistencies. Joan Walsh credibly documented how that many in the media hate Hillary in this short video:

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5bab7_clinton_news (01:50)

I will never forgive these pundits for their blatant anti-Hillary and pro-Obama media bias until they both publicly admit to it and then fully apologize for it.  That especially goes for the most guilty culprits Keith Olbermann, Chris Matthews, and Jack Cafferty who I will never view as being credible ever again.  I will not be holding my breath waiting for those much needed apologies to happen!

I definitely view MSNBC as being "the Obama Network" and going forward I will be taking them with a grain of salt.  CNN never should have had Donna Brazile on as a so-called "undeclared superdelegate" and Roland Martin on as a so-called "objective commentator" when both of them were very clearly in the tank for Obama.  I also have much more respect for FOX News now because they have been the only major cable network that actually did their job of trying to fully scrutinize Obama during the primary!

Chris Matthews and many other pundits just like him in the mainstream media are being very clearly unprofessional when it comes to the goal of being truly objective journalists and these links show that the current state of the media is definitely a broken system right now in my opinion!

It is nice to see that at least a few of these media pundits are being honest about the role that they are playing in this election as I have documented:

Obama piggybacked on it shamelessly

From Digby...

Clinton’s campaign ripped open a hole in our culture and forced us to look inside. And what we found was a simmering cauldron of crude, sophomoric sexism and ugly misogyny that a lot of us knew existed but didn’t realize was still so socially acceptable that it could be broadcast on national television and garner nary a complaint from anybody but a few internet scolds like me. It was eye-opening, to say the least.

HOWARD KURTZ, HOST: "Let me give you my two cents. Journalists, as everyone knows, has already been accused of being in the tank for Obama and mesmerized by the oratory and thrown off the wagon and all. That the true mark of racial equality will be if we treat Barack Obama like any other candidate in this campaign which means he's going to get roughed up at times. And, therefore, the press will be doing what it's supposed to do which is not taking sides..."

It is so obvious that the media (along with BO's team using the Racecard) is why BO did so well.

Never before has the media been so biased. It's disgusting. People should be turning away from the likes of CM & KO. Boycott their shows. What a Propaganda War.

If there was real reporting, Hillary would have won in a landslide. It's a shame because she was the most qualified of all the candidates.

I'm still holding onto hope that the people will see more of the real BO through other means.

Obama Talks with Religious Leaders; Gates on U.S. Presence in Iraq; FDA Slammed on Food Safety

Aired June 10, 2008 - 17:00 ET

WOLF BLITZER, CNN ANCHOR: "Let's talk about your former boss, Bill Clinton, the former president of the United States. We heard from Hillary Clinton. We really haven't heard from him yet. You know, expressing obviously his sadness, but going forward, I assume he's going to try to help Barack Obama get elected to the White House.

PAUL BEGALA, CNN POLITICAL CONTRIBUTOR: Oh, absolutely. And I'm quite sure the Obama campaign is reaching out to him, and they will get a firm yes for anything they ask.

BLITZER: Why haven't we heard from him yet?

BEGALA: Oh, I think it's probably a good thing, Wolf, if you hear from him, he might like call you at 3:00 in the morning and complain about the coverage. I think he has -- you know, anytime someone you love is being attacked, it's worse than you're being attacked.

BLITZER: So, he's angry?

BEGALA: Oh, yes. I would be if I were him. If people said those things about my wife, not the political things, but the personal shots that she took that no man has had to take. The misogyny of some of the coverage and the commentary, not her competitors, it was more the commentators and the coverage I think that has a lot of people who love Hillary upset.

BLITZER: Because, you know, at one point during in the campaign, he suggested, you know what, they send out a smear against Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama tries to take the high road but his people are behind the scenes trying to inflame that fire.

BEGALA: You know, these things happen in a campaign. But I have to say much more of the -- no, almost all of the really egregious things that were said were said by people in the press and the commentariat. And I hear that all across the country. I travel a lot.

BLITZER: So will those Clinton supporters come back and be on Barack Obama's team come November?

BEGALA: I think yes. He will have to...

BLITZER: But some of them won't be.

BEGALA: ... earn them. He will have to earn them. And Hillary did everything she can do and will continue to. Right? She -- 15 times she endorsed him on Saturday. But, you know, a lot of people, particularly women, are angry. Now, I think they ought to be angry and particularly angry at the media.

Well, if you're angry at the media, it doesn't solve anything to vote for John McCain, right? If you agree with Hillary on the issues, you need to be for Barack, because he's with her on the issues.

But I think Senator Obama is going to have to do some work to earn those votes..."

DAN ABRAMS, HOST:  "What a difference a big speech makes.  The inside D.C. pundits suddenly heaping praise on Hillary Clinton after she dropped out of the race on Saturday and endorsed Barack Obama.  It‘s a sharp shift in tone after so many blasts at Clinton on Tuesday night and Wednesday for not pulling out immediately after Obama secured enough delegates to win...

ABRAMS:  Today, one of Clinton‘s high profile backers Gloria Steinem took it to another level.

GLORIA STEINEM, WOMEN‘S MEDIA CENTER:  Clearly, part of the problem is misogyny and the culture at large and especially in the media.  I mean, you know, no candidate in history has been asked to step down by the media.  She was.  The average time that it takes for a loser to endorse a winner in this situation is four months—four months.  She did it in four days.  And look how she was criticized for not doing it the very same night.

(END VIDEO CLIP)...

ABRAMS:  "I think that there was this weird obsession on the part of some in the media and particularly some of the pundits to simply just get her out—just go already.  We‘re tired of this thing, just go, go..."

Good for Katie Couric! I am very proud of her for coming out and taking a stand on this issue:

Couric Gets Honored In D.C.

Yesterday, CBS' Katie Couric was honored by the Sewall-Belmont House and Museum at their Alice Award Luncheon Gala. She was recognized for "her remarkable career in news media, her ground breaking role as the first female solo anchor of a weekday network evening broadcast and her tireless advocacy for colorectal cancer screening, which has helped save the lives of countless men and women each year" (according to a release).

Some thoughts from Couric at the event:

However you feel about her politics, I feel that Sen. Clinton received some of the most unfair, hostile coverage I've ever seen.

Couric went on to say that latent sexism contributed, in part, to Hillary's defeat.

She referred to one "prominent member of the commentariat" who said he "found it hard to be objective when it came to Obama."

"That's your job," she remembers thinking when hearing this, before suggesting that he "find another line of work." (Was it Chris Matthews? Or was it Lee Cowan?)

Channel 4's Barbara Harrison, the emcee and a longtime friend, said, "Katie, you're a real fighter, and I'm watching where you're going next." (Does she know something we don't?!?)

CNN ELECTION CENTER

Day Three of the Democratic National Convention

Aired August 27, 2008 - 19:00 ET

JOHN KING, CNN CHIEF NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: "All that said there are some very strong, hard feelings left over from the primary campaign when people very close to Senator Obama if not Senator Obama himself, believe that Bill Clinton at least went right up to the line of playing the race card during some of the campaign.

But the whole effort here is to put all of these bruises behind. One of the things they're not happy about, Campbell, is even here in the convention city, Bill Clinton has been -- we have been told, and the Obama people have been told that in some small private meetings he has continued to tell people and he has to know this, Bill Clinton knows this right now, nothing is private in politics, that he thinks the media is biased against his wife and cost her the nomination. He continues to say, again, small groups of friend, not in a public way, that he thinks Hillary Clinton would be a much stronger candidate. When the Obama people hear that, they cringe..."
