Reminder of the Tuskegee Experiment - 40 years later - Veterans

| | | | | | | | |

Did we seriously not learn anything by the Tuskegee Experiment in which poor black males in Tuskegee Alabama were studied for 40 years without informed consent or exact knowledge of their procedure? Now granted that wasn't the last time that happened, I'm sure. However, I'm outraged that we would start this with vets from the Iraq and Afghan wars. (Especially those that are mentally distressed and giving them drugs that have the side effect of violent tendencies and suicide) Shame on the VA , Shame on those that had knowledge and Did nothing. Another piece of evidence of how this Republican adminstration cares nothing about our troops.

I first read this at Fox, but I decided to get another source. Let's leave it at that right?
Disposable Heroes

The article states "In one of the human experiments, involving the anti-smoking drug Chantix, Veterans Administration doctors waited more than three months before warning veterans about the possible serious side effects, including suicide and neuropsychiatric behavior.

This man later suffered a mental breakdown because of the Chantix he claims. However, these veterans were not advised for three weeks later. "

I like others quoted in this article question how this was allowed to continue. The VA defends this by saying they don't believe it warranted an emergency. I fully beg to differ that not only that they should have been given these drugs in the first place but the morallity of not offering them consent.

We ask these men to support our country but we treat them less than human in every regard. I have had simply enough.

Please help me elect Senators that care about doing something for our veterans not providing lip service like John Cornyn that they "have supported our troops". I will help match anyone that donates to my act blue page this evening.
