From DU:

A Veep Convention Hint
from TIME.com: Swampland by Jay Newton-Small

Is there a hint at Obama’s veep pick in the convention line up? This morning convention co-chair Kathleen Sebelius outlined to reporters on a conference call the themes of each night at the convention.

Monday, August 25 -- One Nation

Monday’s headline prime-time speaker will be Michelle Obama.

Tuesday, August 26 – Renewing America’s Promise

Senator Hillary Clinton will be the headline prime-time speaker on Tuesday night.

Wednesday, August 27 -- Securing America’s Future

The Vice Presidential Acceptance Speech

The headline prime-time speaker on Wednesday will be Barack Obama’s Vice Presidential Nominee.

Thursday, August 28 – Change You Can Believe In

Barack Obama’s Acceptance Speech

That common sense could prevail here even at the last moment.

The proof is in the pudding.

Securing America is after all the only real legit duty of the Federal gov't & as the visionary & several years old url of this website & WKC's entire life points to, it's not new. Obama's campaign has drawn on a lot of very derivative elements from his speech style to his presumptive seal so we shall see.

Perhaps there has been an outbreak of sanity & WKC, the true gold standard of the Democratic party, has emerged as the consensus power-sharing candidate from the Clinton faction.

We shall see. After hearing the VP will be announced via text message I can't say I'm too fired up. After Kerry so ceremoniously unveiled his Kerry-Edwards AF2 plane in Pittsburgh it's hard to take the hype seriously since it seems like a moment that should be rather serious.

Hope it's not a tease.

ha ha

I hope the real heavyweights (Cuomo, Gore, Clinton, the upper tiers of certain bureaus & departments, overseas friends, etc.) are pulling out all the stops & doing the right thing behind the scenes is all I really can say.

I would have very mixed feelings either way.

...that Clarkies would be the first to uncover any solid evidence of Wes being selected as VP before the 'word' gets out. Betting odds for Wes as VP (offshore) would have to be stratospheric (I'll see if I can find what they are tonight).

I'm still saying Richardson until proven wrong

the "Securing America" theme to describe Richardson! There are plenty of other phrases they could come up with besides that one, to describe someone who has credentials like that.

Oh please please please.

I'll be good.

I won't curse or snark.

No republicans, please please please....

It may be him, Sam Nunn, or Webb. I'll be SHOCKED if it's Wes. I hope it's not Bayh or Rendell. They supported Hillary and seem like good guys, but I don't see them doing much for the country as VP. Wes and Hillary would.

I'm still hoping for a Convention surprise with a roll call of votes that would put HIllary on top of ob. Wes would for sure be in a Hillary Clinton Administration.

Current odds in England (where you can bet on politics) are roughly 11:1 (i.e. - not nearly enough for me to chunk $10 or so on a bet).

This is just slightly worse than Hillary Clinton.

Detailed Clark price action can be obtained by clicking the little bar icon to the left of the name

Looks like the favorite is still Evan Bayh at roughly 3:1

An aggressive play would be withdrawing a chunk out of the 401K and putting it on John Edwards at 400:1 - just think, it would be possible to take $100,000 and turn it into $40,000,000!!

On the Republican side, Mitt Romney is the favorite at around 2.8:1

Perhaps an even more informative site is here:

this has historical info...look at the move Wes put on the field today (just add him as a selection and refresh the graph)

I mean, hell......"Securing America" is a phrase that Wes Clark has pretty much coined as his own over the past few years.  And for the life of me, I can't see how that title could be applied to the likes of Tim Kaine or Evan Bayh.  So since that's the theme of Wednesday night's agenda (VP Announcement night) I gotta say I'm reasonably encouraged that it just might be a possibility.  :)

A girl can hope.....right?

Securing America

I mean, how much more obvious can you get?

It's just how it looks to me. Themes for convention nights don't mean anything. Sebelius pretty much said so and she's a co-chair of the convention.
