The latest email from Eric

Dear Friends,

This race just keeps getting closer. The New York Times just had a front page article about all of the close races in the Northeast, and because of all of your hard work we were one of the races they spotlighted as hard for the Republicans to win. Click here to read the entire article.

As many of you know I started airing my first TV and
radio spots at the beginning of August. It's a positive message that describes my life experiences and the issues that are my priorities.

Please make a contribution of $50, $100, $250, or any amount today to help keep this spot on the air.

Randy Kuhl aired his first commercials this week. Regrettably it's more of the same old Washington politics. Rather than staying positive, right off the bat, Kuhl distorting my views and made blatantly false statements in his advertisement - over something we agree about no less.

His ad states: "And Randy Kuhl is the only candidate that supports drilling for our own energy now." This is not true and Kuhl doesn't seem to care, sadly more evidence that he's become just another typical politician.

In the last 11 days there have been 12 articles in newspapers and on TV stations in the district that state very clearly that I believe in drilling in the 68 million acres currently under lease to the oil companies. Kuhl knows this and still chose to lie about my position - typical Washington politician.

Rather than false statements and political games let's have a real conversation about the problems facing America and how Democrats, Independents AND Republicans can come together to find common sense solutions. Instead here's what Kuhl's advertisement says:

Randy Kuhl has been in Washington long enough to learn how to play off of people's fears and hopes - even if it means bending the truth. Most people know that drilling is only part of the solution and isn't some "magic wand" that will suddenly make all of our problems disappear overnight. Drilling is important, but only one part of a comprehensive plan to make America energy independent. It's going to take real change- like long term investments in renewable and alternative energy sources - and not silly slogans to fix Washington and end this gas crisis.

Unlike my opponent, I don't take corporate special interest money so I need to ask for your help to fight back when Kuhl distorts the truth with money from Big Oil.

Please make a contribution of $50, $100, $250, or any amount today so I can continue to work for the real change Western New York deserves.

Maybe it's the $65,000 Kuhl has received from oil, gas, and energy companies that has made him willing to distort the truth, but it's time for him to come clean. We need an Energy plan that helps families, not one that gives more tax handouts to Big Oil - how much more money does Kuhl want to give companies like Exxon? It's time to tell Kuhl it's not all about money. It's about solutions for the families that will go cold this winter unless we make real change.

Thank you,

Eric Massa

Let's get Eric's totals up there!!

From NYTimes article linked in Eric's email:

....The other embattled Republican incumbent is Representative John R. Kuhl Jr. of New York’s 29th District, in the state’s Southern Tier. His Democratic opponent is Eric Massa, a former Navy officer and a former staff member of the House Armed Services Committee, whom Mr. Kuhl defeated two years ago with 52 percent of the vote. In a measure of the tightness of the race, Mr. Massa has $652,000 in his coffers, compared with nearly $619,000 for Mr. Kuhl.
