Clark has some Role on Final Day of Convention

Barack Obama | Clark | democratic convention | Obama | Wes Clark | Democratic politics
Go drop in on thewashingtonnote.com for the latest from Steve Clemons. Clark will be at the convention on its final day, Thursday, when Obama speaks. Apparently he will be given some role (though it seems unlikely it will involve speaking). This seems to be in response to Clemons and several other bloggers indicating their sense of displeasure, along with Clark contacting the Obama campaign to make it clear that he would continue to be a staunch supporter (however he was treated). In any case, a salve to the wound.
that he'll be asked to help sweep up and stack the folding chairs.
None of the Above; therefore we need, Wes Clark as Secretary of State!.
He's not a doormat for chrissake!

I would, but not Wes. I believe none of Wes' running for president in 2004, etc. was about Wes. It is all about what is best for the country. Wes probably feels strongly that the sum total of Senator Obama plus the thousands of Democrats who will be working in Washington is better than the sum total of a confused Senator McCain, his VP choice who in all likelihood is unacceptable, and his thousands of Republicans filling important jobs in Washington.
there is some chatter that the vp will be Chet Edwards!

Maybe Wes will introduce him?
conventional career politician, which pretty much covers everyone except Gen Clark (I'm not above bias here, but I suspect many who don't have a preferred choice would agree).
It's awfully hard to get excited about Sen Biden, Chet Edwards, Sen Bayh... even Sebellius is a rather boring choice.
I seem to remember hearing good things about Chet Edwards including Wes campaigning for him. I could be mistaken.
...I initially heard he's good only because he's a Democrat in Texas, not very progressive though. However, looking at his views on the issues he scores as a Moderate Libertarian Liberal.

Apparently he's supported veteran issues and seems like a decent enough fellow. I just don't know much about him other than what I've found in a quick Google.

He was one of the speakers at the first annual (and only) 2005 WesPAC Convention. November 2005. He's quite moderate, which he would have to be to keep winning his district, but a nice enough fellow and a pretty good speaker.

Maybe the Obama campaign really listened to the grass roots?
Or perhaps Hillary interceded?
Or they just came to their senses?
Now let's hope he is given a significant (for a convention) role on that day.
And I'm feeling more reconciled. When I first went to wikipedia, he wa at the bottom of my list, even though he's more obviously liberal than the other members of the short list, because I think I felt like I could understand why one of those others might be picked above Clark, but not Biden. A southern male who has that southern male look --- and admittedly, Clark doesn't look or sound as southern as would be useful. But a Delaware senator? Who has gotten in trouble with his mouth before --- didn't he call Obama "clean"? --- and who has also apparently been quoted as saying he didn't think Obama was ready to be Commander in Chief. And I looked at his record graduating near the bottom of his law school class, and the fact that he's 2 years older than Clark, and how could anyone pick him instead of Clark? But there's a diary on dailykos about someone who supported him in another campaign, and he sounds like a good guy, a non-drinker who hasn't leet himself be bought by the rich lobbyists and who cares deeply about his family. And he seems to be admired in the Senate. So I think I can be reconciled. But I'm still going to need Obama to start treating Clark better....

Hope they appreciate him as much as we do.
