Wes will be with Dem Congressional candidate Charlie Brown in California this Thursday and Friday...

Wesley Clark will stump for congressional hopeful

Retired Air Force Gen. Wesley Clark will accompany Democratic congressional candidate Charlie Brown Thursday when he distributes $30,000 in campaign contributions to charity. Based on the online votes of 2,000 people, Brown will give the money to Rebuild Hope, the Greater Oroville Homeless Coalition and Cottage Housing. It's the second round of donations for Brown, who vowed to give 5 percent of funds raised to groups helping veterans. The event will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Veterans Park North in Roseville.

Air Force????

And then Friday:

From 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, General Clark will join us as we
create care packages for U.S. Marines deployed to Iraq and
Afghanistan. We're asking all our friends to pitch in by coming down
to help put together the packages, write thank you cards, and
contributing some of the many supplies our troops need.

I know some of this info has been posted before...by me, and Kelly too, here and here but both of those blogs have rolled off the front page and I thought it would be nice to have some mention of Wes' activities for Charlie mentioned on the current list.

Great thinking. ;-)

Even getting a spanky new digital camera, as mine has finally surrendered to recycle after ten years.

Fair warning though - I'm really lousy at first hand accounts, but I'll do my best - and if that is awful then hopefully the pics can tell the story.

Are any other Clark supporters going?? I know Sybil said she probably won't make it.

Also, not entirely sure I'll be able to stay the full 2 hrs. Will still have about 8 hrs of driving to do when I leave there, and will be leaving Monterey around 5am (traffic), but will do my best....

Holy Cow! My sister just dropped off two large green bags full of beanie babies for this! 150 of them (you don't want to know how many she still has)!

I'm sure your account will be great....I hope you have a great time. Give Wes a hug for me. :) And be careful driving....

Oh, that's a lot of beanie babies. :)

I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how many she had, lol. But they said they wanted them. Great idea actually - they're giving them to the children.

I, Michael Matteucig, will be attending the "Democrats Work" "Care Package" volunteer session on Friday, 05 September, 2008 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

Napa is only 92 miles South-West of Roseville. I am committed to work the full two hours. I have already e-mailed my donation list to the Charlie Brown logistics officer. Of interest, I am bringing 208 individual packages of Lemonade and 220 individual packages of whole wheat oatmeal of various flavors, as well as some Sudoku and Word-Find booklets.

Because I have signed up to work and not socialize, I will not be bringing my digital camera.

Good for you. Sounds like you've already put a lot of work in getting all of those packages together.

I know what you mean about the work, not socialize, thing. Back when Wes was running, the NY Clark Team had vans going up to New Hampshire every weekend. I happened to be able to go on the weekend that was also the Draft Clark invasion and, although I was a part of the draft, I was there to work and just felt like I had to spend as much time as possible doing something to get Wes elected and so hardly took part in any of the draft things....But it only takes a moment to take a picture and there was downtime throughout the weekend...I didn't have a camera with me though. It also takes just a moment to say hi to Wes...so I hope you'll get the chance to at least say hi. I know he loves to see Clarkies at these things.

Enjoy and please bring a report back here to the blog....And thanks. It's a great thing you're doing.

Dear supporters of Honourable General Wesley K. Clark:

Despite our being embroiled by trials and
tribulations--many of which are painful, there is always a "beacon of hope, faith, and trust." Today, Friday, 05 September, 2008 is one of those days where hope, faith, and trust do prevail.

The planning and execution of the "Democrats Work.org" "Day of Service" was phenomenal.

First of all, I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful staff of "Democrats Work.org." They were extremely polite and courteous (welcoming) to all participants. They even made sure we had bottled water to quench our thirst and grapes to ease any hunger we may have had. Furthermore, I can assure you that they collaborated both efficiently and effectively with Charlie Brown's campaign. To this end, both "Democrats Work" and Charlie Brown's campaign staff orchestrated a most organized function. Duties and responsibilities were carefully indicted by means of posted directive "rubrics" with oral directives given immediately before General Clark and Charlie Brown spoke.

Of interest, when I arrived this morning at 09:20, both Charlie Brown's staff and "Democrats Work" staff were so welcoming and inviting and grateful for my (our) donations and for my (our) having traveled to Roseville--in my case, actually, eighty-three statute miles.

Upon my arrival, it appeared as if the already knew who I was--based on the items had brought for donation. Furthermore, their interest in the participants as human beings and as socially responsible citizens was greatly appreciated.

Even though I made a point of focusing on work, I:

1. Did welcome General Clark to California;

2. Said hello to Charlie Brown; and,

3. Intermittently socialized with wonderful individuals--some of whom remember me from Washington, D.C.--2005.

Basically, we are all working towards the same goal "A BETTER U.S.A. AND GLOBAL COMMUNITY AT-LARGE."

Michael Joseph Matteucig

What a wonderful report. It sounds like a great event. Good to hear everyone was so welcoming and everything was so organized.

Thanks again.
