He is so generous to do this.
Proud to be an American.

The money donated to this would be so worth the expense...but if I won this thing, I would have a huge problem...I wouldn't be able to get my tongue untied...
The last time I had the chance to speak to him (back in fall of 2003!), all I could get out was "General Clark, you're a breath of fresh air. Thanks for coming." With that, a handshake.
The words still stand today. He *is* a breath of fresh air. We need that badly.

I'm just sayin!
Edit: OK. Where'd the terrific photo go? Dang that Mercury!

I can't compete for this, but I wish the very best of wishes for whoever wins!
Who or what benefits from the auction? Netroots Nation itself?

At the moment, there's 169 items on the site to bid on.
Stan, if interested, Barbara Boxer donated a pair of autographed boxers shorts! :)

Hey, psst maybe Pittsburgh could be added as a potential host city? As people are bidding nationally but many people aware of the Netroots Nation auction might be planning to be in Pittsburgh for the conference, which would widen the array of potential bidders. I guess you can't schedule him out that far in advance.

really wonderful opportunity in my opinion. I wish that I could afford it!
However I consider myself very fortunate to have met and talked with both Gen. Clark and Gert at several events!
Listening to Gen. Clark is a real treat because I always learn something new that I did not know before after I hear him speak!

then it can be more affordable, that is if it's within your budget. If I know someone who can afford it and is interested in learning more in depth what is going on these days, I will be happy to forward this info.
Get a lot more than 4 Clarkies to contribute $X, win the auction...sit 4 of them at Wes's table (based on random draw) and the remaining 20 or so can sit at the adjacent tables.
My guess is that this auction is going to end in the four figures.

But no one has bid yet... to start at $200, one person, means he has to be CEO or something lol.
I would love to go but depending how much money I have to give and over $50 is high for me right now since I have to save for my retirement :-(.
I would if I could, but I can't so I won't.
;-(
Update on the auction:

"Hot Items!"...along with a Deadheads for Obama T-Shirt (currently at $45) and some meat from Nebraska (at $155). :)
“The Obama campaign could have said they agreed with me. Go ask them why they didn’t stand up for me.” ~ Wes Clark regarding the McCain comment brouhaha, as reported by student blogger Jason Plautz

Too bad I don't have a spare credit card. Ah well, I did get to do the Photo Trip thing. That was awesome!
If interested, Netroots Nation has Pelosi's book going for $18.
The title of the book is: KNOW YOUR POWER: A Message to America's Daughters
ROFL... That's ok Speaker Pelosi, there's no need to read the book. I believe our daughters got your message during the primary season--when you had Hillary's back...(not).

re: coffee with Wesley Clark
As of Friday, Oct 17th, the high bid is $1,500. :)

How very cool would this be!!! And NYC is one of the possible destinations....I can't help but hope, however, that this one goes for some astronomical figure, well beyond my price range, just becuase it really would be worth that much.
