That's just in the next few minutes!
Go Andrew! You can watch here:

Inhofe actually said he "believed [as Chair of whatever committee he named] in man made causes of global warming until they realized how much it would cost to fix it."
Milton Friedman's great misfortune is that his policies have been tried. -Naomi Klein, quoting John Kenneth Galbraith

See what I have to put up with this guy. This guy really needs to go and retire now! He's senile.
I had what may be a good sign today. I went to the Dem headquarters to get a yard sign and they were out. They said that Rice headquarters was also out. So I got put on a waiting list. I think he may be in high demand. Well one can hope. I already noticed Inhofe lying several times. One big one was when he lied about supporting more armor for our troops. Rice said "Yeah that's why you voted against it".
Well what can one expect from this liar Inhofe? ARGHHHH.
where I can find the link to the Clark vs Rove debate??

Hey Blackie,
We're still waiting on the video but you can listen to audio of it HERE.
"She hopes to open shadowed eyes on a different world...." Robert Smith, borrowed from Penelope Farmer
From local television station in Florida

Even mentions Tina Fey
- Info from TV station - Keith Cate is live from Ft. Myers at a rally for Governor Sarah Palin. Keith sat down with her for an exclusive interview. This is an unedited, long version.
- Interviewer wasn't Katie Couric
- Dinky station in Tampa without any real incentive to edit the tape like ABC or CBS

Wes has endorsed Obama/Biden. Are you endorsing McCain/Palin? If so, I think you are on the wrong blog. Otherwise you'd be known as a troll. At least in the old days.
It's too bad this place has become a haven for Obama bashers. I used to love Wes's blog.
Hmmm, so you're a McPalin lover, Obama basher AND a troll?! I sure hope you can find a way to get all of your new "labels" on a t-shirt! ;)
“The Obama campaign could have said they agreed with me. Go ask them why they didn’t stand up for me.” - Gen. Clark

posting a link to an unedited version of an interview (or was it the believing that it was unedited and the mistrust of the networks?) is tantamount to Obama bashing and/or endorsing McCain/Palin now? Sheesh, Aaron Brown was certainly and sadly right..."Many Americans on the left and the right aren't interested in the truth, but simply want news that confirms their viewpoints."
“The Obama campaign could have said they agreed with me. Go ask them why they didn’t stand up for me.” Wes Clark regarding the McCain comment brouhaha, as reported by student blogger Jason Plautz

(from the Northwestern story about his speech there):
Clark also said that partisanship has made today's politics ineffective when it comes to solving the country's economic and military concerns. The retired general publicly endorsed Sen. Barack Obama last June, but told the audience to objectively listen to Obama and Republican nominee John McCain in the presidential debates.
"It's convenient to blame Bush, (former Secretary of State Donald) Rumsfeld and (Vice President Dick) Cheney, but they're operating on a set of ideas that were mostly invalid," he said. "We need new ideas. We need a government to really take a lead in giving America a new strategy and purpose in the world. We need to stop dividing America into Republicans and Democrats ... We need to pull this country together."
The public discourse is going to have to rise above the level of perennial* cheerleading for candidates and critically examine the policies and processes that need to be reformed if we are going to have a government that serves the people in this country.
*perennial is probably not even the right word, now that we've fallen into the trap of the perpetual campaign, and the obscene spending that entails.
They are both extremists. Same for McCain's cheerleaders/bashers. I don't let extremists on either side affect my opinions or turn me against my fellow countrymen.
Proud to be an American.
The funny thing is, I've been attacked by extremist supporters of both Clinton and Obama although I've supported (and still do) both! McCain supporters have more of a philosophical difference, and have most of his extremists are really Palin supporters.
I battled Obama's extremists on the orange blog when they accused Clinton of being, for all intents and purposes, pure evil. Now I come to CCN and see people who supported Hillary in the primaries accusing Obama of everything under the sun, as if he is the incarnation of all things evil (I was introduced right here on CCN to a website, noquarterusa.net, that does precisely that! Check it out, it's run by a former Hillary supporter whose mission in life seems to be spreading every possible negative unfounded rumor regarding Obama--you will find NOTHING positive about him there).
Anyhoo, when this whole election cycle started I was content in the knowledge that whoever won would be better than GWB. I'm still secure in that knowledge, although Gov Palin has given me great pause. I no longer beleive a McCain win would necessarily be an improvement.

on Wall Street tomorrow. Er, today I mean. Everything is down down down. Way down.
On the up side, oil is trading at $86 and change at present.
,,,Arky making a prediction which probably means the stock market is going up 500 points today (actually, it was headed for a 3% lower open until the Fed and world banks just lowered interest rates...nevertheless, I think this was expected and watch out below if this also fails to take hold)
Update: Dow futures back down 200pts with 30 minutes to open...guess the 10% drop in Tokyo carried more weight.
Still thinking we need to get to 800 on SP500 before real buying comes in (currently at 1000...so that would mean another 20% overall drop in the stock market)
Would normally be looking at Warren Buffet and piggybacking on what he's doing, but he's got some incentive to step in early with his buys on GE and Goldman Sachs to protect his other positions.
Market was up/down/up/down all day and the last 15 minutes gives Arky the win by a nose by finishing down (~200 pts Dow) on the day.

You'd love watching the Dow today. I said it was going to be down, and I was right at least a couple of times today.
:D
I laughed, I cried, I rent
(rended? rand?)my garment.

Treasury Moves Quickly to Recruit Private Bailout Managers
(Milton Friedman smiles in his grave.)
The Treasury Department this week plans to start outsourcing the management of up to $700 billion in troubled securities, using special contracting authorities that enable it to retain private portfolio managers, custodians and other financial services consultants without following standard acquisition procedures.
The department’s quick turn to the private sector will help it prepare for the massive task of overseeing mortgages and other financial assets to be acquired by the government as part of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act that was approved by Congress and signed by President Bush last Friday.
But it means that the government has little time to assess the companies that will be partners in what could become one of the largest public sector funds in American history. Some of the same firms that have played roles in the rise and collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market may end up guiding the government as the bailout unfolds, department officials said.

That's precisely (in part) what happened with military contractors in Iraq... That's how they ended up hiring Viktor Bout at one point for god's sake.
Naomi Klein v Alan Greenspan on crony capitalism
Milton Friedman's great misfortune is that his policies have been tried. -Naomi Klein, quoting John Kenneth Galbraith

"Wes Clark is a man of whom you can ask a question, and he will look you directly in the eye, and give you the most truthful and complete answer you can imagine. You will know the absolute truth of the statement as well as the thought process behind the answer. You will have no doubt as to the intellect of the speaker and meaning of the answer to this question....So you can see, as a politician, he has a lot to learn." -Mario Cuomo
"This is the third election in a row bashing Democrats on national security. But since this administration has been in office, we have had nothing BUT security problems. This administration wonít tell the American people the truth."
-Wes Clark in Warren County, Iowa Sept. 30, 2006
