On the Clinton Era:

And here we’re in the summer of 2000 on top of the world. We had defeated the German economic miracle. We had defeated the challenge of Japanese quality. People were coming from all over the world to learn our business methodology.

Young people wanted to be like Americans. We'd unleashed this enormous flood of creativity and energy. And our culture was just fantastic. My son's a screenwriter and he would never fail to tell me, he said "Dad, remember America's greatest export; it's our movies. It's our movies." And in Europe, dealing with the French as I did and people would always say "Let's speak English." Let's speak English because English is the language of the world today. Three-and-a-half billion people can communicate in English. We were dominant.

We were on top of the world.

we had an America that had taken advantage of a unique moment in time for a global opening, an explosion of travel and trade and communications coupled with really favorable, incredible engines in the capital market which made America the emerging market and put us in the center of the global economic community in a way we really hadn't been probably since World War II.

Sigh.

Seems oh so long ago- that America.

and visited the Clinton library, some of us left there feeling bereft after the reminder of all the good that had been ours during the Clinton years, that had been so quickly flushed away under the Bush regime.

It also seems like a long way to go before any improvement. If Wes or Hillary was our candidate it would be so much better. I'm convinced whether Wes or Hillary was our Presidential nominee the other would be the VP candidate (or in some other "high up" position within the Administration). Why do Dems keep shooting themselves in the foot? :/ (or should I say - shooting down any chance for the American People to make a rebound).
