Help Scott Murphy Defend His Victory!

I wanted to give you a quick update on the open seat election in New York's 20th Congressional district. Earlier this month I wrote to you about the special election and asked you to help Democrat Scott Murphy in his uphill battle to defeat Jim Tedisco.

Thanks to your support, Scott is on the verge of winning. After starting off more than 21 points down, Scott now leads by 65 votes, but the race is still too-close-to-call. Unfortunately, even before the polls closed, his opponents filed a lawsuit to slow down the vote count.

As we've seen with Al Franken in Minnesota, this election fight will likely continue in the courts. Scott's campaign will now need the resources to wage this legal battle.

I know I've asked a lot from you the last few weeks, but if you're able to, please consider contributing to Scott's campaign today.

You helped Scott get here, and I can't thank you enough.

Wes

since nobody else will. There's a deep distrust of all things political right now. Too many dems have turned out to be repubs in sheep's clothing as witnessed by the events of the past few days.

I doubt if there's much sympathy to donate to candidates of a party that, time and again, has disappointed and belied the reasons dems were elected to govern; TO BE PROGRESSIVE, not regressive.

I think the feeling is now, why bother? They just vote for the big bucks, big banks and their own behinds, anyway.

We trust Wes; it's the rest of the dem party that's lost our trust. I wish it were different, but I also think time will bear me out.

Come back in a few months and tell me how all those trillions of $$ of bail out money helped any one of us, personally. How many of the Bush ganstas have gone to jail;
how single payer health care is doing; how many Wall Streeters and brazillionaire bankers have been served with forclosure - or a law suit. Tell me the oil companies have stopped playing "stick-em-up" with their customers. Tell me how many decent-paying new jobs have been created and how people on fixed-income or looking for work are expected to help millionaire candidates belly up to the trough. And so it goes; on and on.

Tell me how the Uniparty is doing.

America! Close your eyes and think of England!

and lots of squabbling. This one could go on for a while. Just like Eric's did.

Latest 20th count: Murphy up by 34

In the latest installment of the 20th CD election saga, Democrat Scott Murphy has 34 votes over Republican Jim Tedisco.

This tally combines the latest count from the State Board of Elections (which has Murphy up by 8 points) and a newer tally from Essex County (the state BOE did not have the Essex County paper ballot count; TU reporter Leigh Hornbeck received the paper ballot count from the Essex Couny BOE — Murphy received 88 paper ballots, Tedisco received 62, 31 were challenged and set aside.)

Some interesting comments too.

A tough district for a Dem. Like mine is. I guess that's why they sent in the cavalry. ;)
