Cheney warns of new attacks
By JOHN F. HARRIS & MIKE ALLEN & JIM VANDEHEI | 2/4/09 5:56 AM EST
"Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.
In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects..."
Gen. Clark refuted Cheney on Guantanamo Bay by saying that it was a black eye for America across the world, that we have to live up to our own values, and he is in favor of German prisons for international trials where America is working together with our allies.

Listen to Gen. Wes Clark fight for Dems on Sean Hannity's radio program: An excellent example for all of us to follow and what we all need to be doing to help fight back against extreme right wing Neocon smear propaganda!
is at the top of Hillary Clinton's list of people to call before she either makes an important foreign policy decision or before she makes an important recommendation to Obama!
I really wish that Gen. Clark had a place in the Cabinet but I know that those kind of decisions are very private and are usually done behind the scenes if they are made.

I only managed to catch the last couple of minutes of it on tv. Good to hear the General's views. And good to see him smiling. :)

and maybe even what I saw today and yesterday in the NYC subway stations: SWAT team, with M16 rifles (I think it was), and German Shepherds... Now why aren't they in every subway stations and everyday? How does Homeland Security know the probability when/where the terrorist is going to attack? What happened to the rainbow alert? Is Dick Cheney sending e-mails and alerting when to send special units in the public area? Give me a brake… We have been dealing with terrorist for 20 years as Gen. Clark mentioned, and once in a while they sprinkle us with special units.
Although, the blue tie is popular!
Thanks for taking the time to post the above links -- including the Clark/Hass video!
Another terrific interview. First time I'd heard about moving the gitmo folks to Germany. Interesting. I do think there are secure prisons in the US as well, if needed.
The General gets it right.
Competence--What a concept!

I've wondered all along why the all detainees couldn't be moved to the U.S.

just poltics, I guess. I did see something on the Dept. of State bulletin that suggested Germany may be aware of
interest in this procedure. However, they arer saying nothing till it is taken up on both sides.
The General gets it right.

Thanks so much for posting the link to this morning's interview on MSNBC.
It's really great to be able to hear the General's views. An amazing man.
Thanks again.
