General Clark was appointed today to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships.
Washington, DC – Today, President Obama appointed 28 members to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships. This accomplished group of citizens representing a broad range of backgrounds, interests, and professions are responsible for recommending a group of exceptional men and women to the President for selection as White House Fellows. The commission will be chaired by John Phillips, a partner at Phillips and Cohen Law Firm. Cheryl Dorsey, President of Echoing Green, will vice-chair the commission. A full list of commissioners and their biographies can be found at the link below.
LOL! I read it twice and am not quite sure what it entails yet. Sounds like he's been appointed to be a fellow who ... recommends other fellows?
Well, it's awfully nice to have him included in something - whatever it may be.
I'll have to read the full article when I get a chance, checking in from work and just saw this headline. In any case, I'm delighted just to see the words "General Clark" and "White House" in the same headline. :)
Just read the announcement...
That's quite a diverse list of people! Artists, investment bankers, professors, politicians, and even Obama's sister! It will be an interesting variety of input in selecting the final candidates for the program.
Sounds exciting--
Congratulations to General Clark.

White House interns must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. They're unpaid, and their internship may only last for a summer.
White House fellows are "young men and women" who are clearly on the rise. They're paid as other staffers are, and their fellowships usually last for a full year.

.....
Former Sen. Paul S. Sarbanes of Maryland and state legislators Tom Hucker and Heather Mizeur were named to a pair of White House advisory panels yesterday.
Sarbanes, who retired after the 2006 election, was named to the president's 28-member Commission on White House Fellowships. The group's main responsibility is to select the next crop of White House fellows, the government's equivalent of a Rhodes Scholarship for talented, upwardly mobile young leaders.
The Maryland Democrat is in distinguished company. The commission includes retired Gen. Wesley Clark (an alumnus of the program from 1975-76 and a commissioner during Bill Clinton's presidency), retired TV anchor Tom Brokaw, retired Sen. (retired involuntary, unlike Sarbanes) Tom Daschle, public radio host John Hockenberry, artist (she created the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington) Maya Lin and fellow Marylander John Berry, head of the Office of Personnel Management (actually, he defected and lives in DC now) and Harvard Law Professor Laurence Tribe.

...I thought he did this before. I seem to remember a candidate saying he asked the most interesting questions.
"Misogyny,..is bullet-proof. It’s not merely tolerated, it’s openly celebrated ...Except for a puny consortium of bruised and contused blamers ...even the victims of this oppression embrace it."

in my estimation, he can't carry Wes Clark's jock. Of course, neither can most of these people. Call me a bitch, but Wes is waaaaay better than the majority of recipients in this group.
Tom Brokaw??? Hmmm......(Please pardon my sour grapes.)
Congratulations for being recognized by this administration, General Clark!
Long time no see!
Great to see your name again, and hoping your doing well and we'll be seeing more of you.
It's hard to put Wes Clark in a group of his peers or equals -- very few can live up to that profile. He'll probably love this gig though, helping young people along the road to realize their dreams via the White House. And then after it's over, he's on his way, I suppose, to do his countless other businesses and ventures -- making the world a more livable place. :)

Congrats General Clark!
Once in a while you get shown the light, In the strangest of places if you look at it right.
that he will be able to do more in the future!
I also hope that Gen. Clark is a person who Obama will seriously ask for advice when it comes to effectively dealing with Iran and North Korea right now!
It's good to see the WH acknowledge WKC's abilities, at least in some small way, at long last.
The General gets it right.
Competence--What a concept!

Happy news, I'm sure General Clark will enjoy all of his contact with this group.

I did read the post on one of the blogs. I'm glad that BO finally decided to include Wes in something....he's waaaaay tooooo good to not use his intelligence and experience. Congrats to Wes, and thanks for the post, Kat.

Finally, the General gets tossed a crumb.
