Losing a pet is very tough duty, but it sounds like Daisy did it right. Have some fun then drop over. I always wanted to have the big one after sinking a 22-foot putt for birdie, but my golfing days are over.
Best wishes and hearty sympathies.

It always seems the death of a beloved companion animal hits us the hardest here on CCN. We love our critters. Be gentle with yourself. Daisy seems to have a had good life with you. Glad to hear the cancer tests are going your way.

Lost my oldest Scottie a few months ago so what you are going through is fresh in my mind.

to you, but Daisy will always be with you. She had a good, long life and left this life the best way possible. I always think the worst way for our animal friends to go is their last breath being in a place they're usually terrified of -- the vet's office. Daisy did it her way, probably happy and at peace, thanks to you. ((((((DB)))))

Sorry
for your loss of Silky.
I'm glad you had to opportunity to be there and as you say, it was in her yard as opposed to on a vet's table.
Take some down time for yourself.

Reports today (Monday) said that Michael Jackson died intestate. I suspect that there are lots of Democrats in Congress in that same condition. They seem not to display any...What?...You mean "intestate" doesn't mean...? Oh, never mind.

After a week of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson and Billy Mays, I was wondering who was next. It turned out to be my beloved Silky Terrier 'Daisy' - faithful companion of about 14 1/2 years.
She probably gave us an extra 6 months longer than expected after most probably suffering a stroke last October that left some neurological damage including sudden blindness (she adjusted fairly well to that and very much enjoyed being a spoiled lap dog and enjoying some of the simpler things).
She had been declining recently, but seemed to be fairly perky this afternoon and greeted me with a face full of licks as I took her out of the house for some outdoors time(as opposed to recent behavior where she just seemed 'zoned out'). Unfortunately, she probably exerted herself too much in the late afternoon (even though it was relatively modest temperature-wise compared to what we've been experiencing) and when I went back outside to pick her up 15 minutes later, she was dead (probably another stroke).
Despite one side of me feeling responsible for not always having an eye on her outside (not really possible), I'm grateful that her life ended in her own yard instead of some vet's table and the end came quickly. I'm also glad that I was able to make it home by chance with a rare early departure from work, otherwise, it is very possible that I would have missed that final display of affection.
Will I get another Silky in the future?
Hopefully in a few years...maybe I'll set that as a personal 'reward' if I go another 3 years without any cancer recurrence (odds looking good with the risk starting to drop sharply based on continued tests).
