"I'll tell you who's with John Murtha and it's the American public." -- Wes Clark

General Clark made that statement last night when he appeared on The Hannity and Colmes Circus Hour on FOX News.  He couldn't have been more spot on.  The most recent Wall Street Journal Poll findings prove this out.  The jig is up with the American people.  A full two-thirds are not buying into the Bush LIES any longer.  The Republicans are on a sinking ship and they are reaching out for anything within their grasp in an attempt to stay afloat.

Yesterday, Michael Moore's name was used in order to illustrate the White House's response to the surprising remarks made by Congressman Murtha with regard to our continued involvement in Iraq.  Below, you will find both the Press Secretary's Statement and Michael Moore's response.

America is not a nation of Extremists.  Some people may have been ignoring the fact that we were headed in that direction by previously supporting this administration.  But the public is in a period of awakening.  They are beginning to see the nightmare for what it is.  The days of the Bush strangle-hold are over.  Let's not allow the Extremists to drag the entire nation down into the abyss along with them.

Long live America; the land of the Free and the home of the Brave!

Statement by the Press Secretary on Congressman Murtha's Statement

Congressman Murtha is a respected veteran and politician who has a record of supporting a strong America. So it is baffling that he is endorsing the policy positions of Michael Moore and the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic party. The eve of an historic democratic election in Iraq is not the time to surrender to the terrorists. After seeing his statement, we remain baffled -- nowhere does he explain how retreating from Iraq makes America safer.

Statement by Michael Moore on the Bush Administration's Statement

Unfortunately, the President doesn't understand that it is mainstream middle America who has turned against him and his immoral war and that it is I and the Democrats who represent the mainstream. It is Mr. Bush who is the extremist.

has several good articles this month about Iraq. One is by James Fallows on the readiness of the Iraqi army. Another is by Nir Rosen on "If America Left Iraq" that makes a lot of sense. It is reported today that Iraq and Iran have signed an agreement regarding security to have Iran work with Iraq in training forces and work on security issues. Actually, we want the neighbors to take a vested interested in a secure Iraq. Iran is certainly, "iffy" given the current leadership, but what will be in that region is what will be. The government of Iraq is making their own choices. Our troops are the lightening rod in that region. It's time for us to pull back and hope for the best.

And that's something we need to repeat to counter the right wing nut talking points.  When they say, look, only the democrats are saying this, we call them on the lie and say, wrong, two thirds of the American public is.

The Bush Administration does what it does best, character assassination of those who disagree with their flawed strategies.  What do they think their end game is?  If they would have said a cooperative security agreement between Iran and Iraq was their goal when they started this war, what do you think people would have said?  "Wow, an even bigger fundamentalist religious theocracy in the Middle East? Great Idea Guys!  There's no way that'll ever blow up in our faces.  You guys are soo smart."

is a very bright and very good man.  I caught on to General Clark from Moore's book--and that puts Moore way up in esteem with em forever.  Besides, he makes so much sense!

The General gets it right. Competence--What a concept!
