Congressman Kucinich was wonderful in the House tonight

Before I loved Gen Clark, I loved Dennis Kucinich.  Both are men who are not afraid to tell it like it is, to say what they think is right without worry about how people are going to look at them or how many are going to agree with them, who speak truth to power.

In tonight's House debate, Dennis had a wonderful rant.  You can view it here:Dennis

"The American people are fed up with politicians who say one thing and do another!" Indeed!

Go Dennis!  This Clarkie thinks you rock! :)

Dennis can really speak with passion!  And he was absolutely right in his "rant" tonight:

"I'm going to vote against this resolution because it's a fraud!"

I used to consider him--well--pretty much a fringe element --but learned to really respect his passion when I heard him speak at Texas Democratic Convention last year.  He was the best speaker there--far better than John Edwards--not that I heard all of Edwards' speech--the Texas Democratic Chair got up and recommended him for Kerry's running mate as he introduced him--so some of us got up and left--and voted against the Chair the next day.

During the campaign, he came to Minnesota and wanted to meet with immigration lawyers.  I was very impressed with him, came away with a great deal of respect for him.  Kucinich is ahead of his time.

I heard that speech at the TX convention too and was moved to tears by his passionate delivery.

What a contrast to the other one.

Dennis was excellent, Carol!  And I also thought Mel Watt speaking for the entire Congressional Black Caucus was superb!  You would have thought Wes wrote his words ;).  And Steny Hoyer spoke volumes.  And then there's Murtha......I watched the House all day and just got done.  I don't think I have ever seen the Repubs at a lower point, and I've been watching for a lot of years.  Despicable.  A personal insult.  All Americans should be insulted and outraged.  I was very proud to be a Dem today.

I caught him earlier. He was fired up!

I've always been a secret fan of Kucinich myself. He tells it like it is.

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? - Wes Clark

And he does a fine job of speaking for me.

He appears to be an honest man.  We could use a lot more like him in government.

The first person to say a new thing always gets labeled a crack-pot, even after their ideas become mainstream. I mean, what did he say that was so extreme to get that label?

There were no WsMD in Iraq.
We need to reconsider free trade.
We need universal health care.

Everyone is saying that now, but they still call him looney.
He took the heat and made it okay for everyone else to say these things.
I have to confess, I voted for him after the General dropped out to send a message to the Platform Committee.

I voted for Kucinich in the moveon.org poll early in the primaries, based solely on the candidates' answers to their questionnaire. I signed up for his email updates then and so I received his email postcards throughout the campaign. He will always have a special place in my heart. I love his passion and his honesty. I love that he lives in a little unassuming blue house. He truly is a man of the people and his heart is in the right place. Unfortunately, I don't think the world is ready for a man like Dennis to be President but, if I had not found the draft Clark movement and the General had never thrown his hat in the ring, I believe I would have supported Dennis throughout....

My guess is that there are a number of Dennis supporters who became Clark supporters. We're not really as different as it would, on the surface, seem....

And without saying too much here, a former candidate for Governor teed off on those Republicans for the way they're treating Murtha and called them exactly what they are. He asked first to make sure there were no reporters in the room, so I'm leaking. And I have to tell you, it was very satisfying to hear.
