Russia and Pakistan to talk about this. But it should have been done long ago. Now it's prolly too late.

And I'm curious, anybody think Impeachment will happen with this Iran threat hanging over our heads? I don't.

"For the good of our country, during wartime," they will keep that B*!^*!d in office, and Rummy misleading our troops.

....in fact this is going to be very difficult for the Dems. This time the threat is real....how do they handle that? What a freakin' mess!

capable in this administration to work the diplomatic end. Bush doesn't give a damn about diplomacy. Israel is a key player in this as well. Now Sharon is hospitalized and yes, what a mess!

Oh, and the only thing DEMs have going for them is the "I told you so" from Wes. Maybe it's time they started backing Wesley Clark as the prescient candidate, rather than the others who are trying to steal his thunder? Otherwise, you are right that DEMs are going to have problems.

you got it ... is the essence core of a plan for success....

Iraq - the threat was illusion - false

Iran - the threat is real - true

Democrats are going to have to be good at the subconscious and the conscious psychology of true - false and take the inevitable attacks from GOP to tag them as not strong enough to lead the country when the country is at war.... the whole kitchen sink will be thrown at them.... as they have argued against the Iraq war ... the GOP will say see ... they can't be trusted to protect you in the war ... the true - false will be lost and what only will be left is that Dems argue against being strong enough to lead -- can't be a war president like Bush... weird huh? but that is what is clearly going to happen you could see it when the GOP engaged the Dems through the media to debate the withdrawal voice of Cindy- the citizens - the politicians... the media only allows Dem enough debate to get sound bytes to turn against them in presidential campaign cycles... it is a set up ....everything in the media...so now they have a library of sound bytes to use against the Dems in 2008 to make the case .. not strong enough to lead... ok how can one extract from this Chinese finger lock of a US media.... well one way .... is WES CLARK and then there is WES CLARK and ... maybe there is WES CLARK.... LOL ok seriously .... actually try this ' if chickhawk GOP party & administration that never went to any war as soldiers can be trusted to take the US to war then surely a DEM administration and executive cabinet can be trusted to take - conduct a US lead war because most DEM the majority of DEMS are veterans...have actually been to war... that is a message... will you test the message here at the blog by supporting or arguing against ..... test run the strength of this message... will it withstand a general election or more importantly the primary campaign cycle MEDIA challenge ....the media during the Dem primary season does MOST OF THE DAMAGE TO THE EVENTUAL DEMOCRATIC NOMINEE AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY during the primary campaign cycle........ do you see where I am going on this?

we could draft Joe Wilson for the task, or any of the real diplomats we had before this gang of thugs took over and trashed the State Department.

Bush has blown it, he's now the President who cried wolf hi credibility with the American people is low, his credibility in the Arab world is non existent. He has isolated so much from the world we don't have much leverage over Iran. At least that's the impression I got from what Wes said. Our only saving grace is that Europe sees the danger too, but even that doesn't seem to deter Ahmadinejad..

Wes seems to be saying that the military option would only set back their plans not eliminate them (set them back 8-10 yr). Only the diplomatic option would work to really change things. Boy Wes was grim.

This is the primary issue Bush is going to promoting come October-November of this year - scare people into voting Republican as much as he can. Our own Nero. God help us all.

I certainly hope many FOX viewers are watching and listening and thinking, "This is the man who should be president." If not now, when they finally realize what a mess Bush has made of things. I just hope it's not too late.

MOST SIGNIFICANT STATEMENT TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DURING '04 PRIMARY DEBATES:

"...This administration's preemptive doctrine is CAUSING North Korea and Iran to ACCELERATE their nuclear weapons development. Now there are some of us who aren't in Washington right now, but I'd like to ask all those who are...lets see some leadership in the United States Congress. Let's see you take apart that doctrine of preemption NOW. I don't think we can wait until November 2004 to change the administration on this threat. We're marching into another military campaign in the Middle East. We need to stop it." -- Wesley Clark

Topic: Iran's nuclear program

Interestingly, FoxNews posted note flashes of Clark's credentials and quotes in the interview below "NUCLEAR SCARE", likely to have neocons running for bibles, and ducktape at their local Home Depot. Fortunately these credits were added:

 • "Clark is recipient of Purple Heart and Silver Star"
 • "Clark help negotiate end to Balkan Wars" a few others.
 • a few others...

As Clark spoke, Fox also posted several windows that cluttered the screen, including a text box that detailed some historical facts about Iran, such as their war with Iraq and the number who were killed on both sides. So, lots of visual distraction; the video clips of Iran, the comments windows about its history, the summary quotes of Clark's comments, and the usual ticker running in the lower page,... it was easy to loose focus on Clark's comments.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The interview:

Clark, stated that he was "fatalistic" about how this will eventually turn out... and noted that he even warned Congress (HASC) in 2002 that Iran was the real threat, not Iraq. Clark added, "Now, we have to pay our dues"

Q: Will Sanctions work?

Clark indicated that the UN Security Councils option to use impose it, will be difficult. It would depend on how Russia and China, especially, would permit the necessary political and economic intercourse for sanctions to work, which is essentially to stop Iran's nuclear program. Therefore, given this concern, Clark seemed to suggest that it was unlikely to succeed.

Further, he stated that a US military strike will have "enormous consequences." At issue is that we may not find/destroy all their nuclear-related facilities, and therefore this may only delay their research and development programs, perhaps up to 8 years. Military strike is also something to be taken very seriously, which would include targeting missile-related and military sites against Iran, aside from the obvious nuclear enrichment plants, that we know about. So, the US must be very prepared for this, as well.

He also warned that the US must prepare for possibility that other foreign entities, who may come into Iran and help them develop WMDs capabilities against the US. Clark alluded to Pakistan and other countries, in particular.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry, didn't post earlier, but my take is that this is not another "cakewalk", and we will pay dues this time for the lack of an earlier and effective policy by Pentagon and the Bush Administration towards Iran... so this time, they better have a comprehensive plan to deal with it. Of course, that's probably unlikely too, given this Administrations record of incompetency...

Thanks Ruth,.. 12 Mb,.. but it's worth the wait on dialup

when he basically said "I told you so" re: going into Iraq and ignoring Iran?

After seeing Gore's speech today, I saw we need to go 3rd party with Gore and Clark....they are the true "canaries in the mine" and the ones with guts!

That clip of Feinstein following McCain, both bloviating about Pakistan and terror and killing people....DC Democrats should just shut up and get one spokesperson who actually knows something ....preferably Clark.

Democrats are going to follow along on all this crap, Iran, etc. instead of calling out this Admin. on their lies and blunders.

But they won't. You watch, they'll "rally" around and screw it up. The have the chance to pre-empt Bush and show him for the incompetent, dangerous, lying weasel that he is...they'll blow it like the blew Alitol.

But, maybe, Wes will be the LAST ONE STANDING as time goes on....as the others fall by the wayside with their hollow stances....One can hope!!

During the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi this nation, as a matter of policy, lavish billions of dollars on Iran's military and scientific establishment, in the name of "regional security." The late Shah was America's staunchest ally in the Persian Gulf, more so than the corrupt House of Al Saud.

There is every reason to suspect that American educated and trained nuclear physicists are working in Iran's nuclear development program. Yet even after the death of Ayatollah Khomeini this nation's foreigh policy did little to improve relations. Our State Department continued to scold a nation, that's history and culture are thousands of years old, on how it should conduct itself in the world and within its own boarders. This nation missed an opportunity to improve dialogue with Iran during the presidency of Mohammad Khatami, but thanks to sabre-rattling by Fearless Leader George W. Bush the Iranians elected the paranoid, megalomaniac Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Two paranoid, megalomanicas confronting one another, each holding a can of gasoline and a book of matches arguing over who gets the right to have nuclear weapons or not is, not a comforting thought or conducive to world peace.

The United States has no moral high-ground in telling any nation in the world that it can not have neclear weapons when we, The United States, have done little, or nothing, to reduce our own neclear stockpile. There is even talk of developing new neclear warheads to replace the aging warheads atop our yet functional ballistic missile arsenal.

Let the Iranians develop their neclear program. They will do nothing with it unless provoked.

Alas, you are quite right. America has a penchant for creating its own problems it seems. You'd think one day the government might figure that out, but no luck so far.
