Ashley Wilkes: Our Troops Rough Up Women / Rush Limbaugh publicly attacked Gen. Wes Clark on Wednesday, Feb. 1

Hello Everyone:

Below is the link and transcript where Rush Limbaugh publicly attacked Gen. Clark on his radio program on Wednesday and took him completely out of context.  Below Rush Limbaugh's nonsense are the link and relevant parts of the transcript of Gen. Clark that clarify this matter!

This dialogue and the quotes from Gen. Clark clear up Rush Limbaugh's false and malicious accusation below of "Ashley Wilkes: Our Troops Rough Up Women:"

Alan Colmes: "One of the things he said, tonight he said “we're on the offensive in Iraq with a clear plan for victory” but I didn't hear…again, I didn't hear what the plan was.

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: No, it's not. When you use phrases like offensive. You know, we're not going to go down, I hope we've gotten over the sort of kicking in the doors and roughing up the women that some people said that we did some of over there…

<Unidentified>: You think we did that?

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: I have heard some soldiers say that some of that was done and I think that's really disturbing.

Hannity: If you heard that and you don't have any evidence, should you be repeating something like that, General?

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: I have heard our soldiers say that so I've been told that by our soldiers.

Hannity: Without any proof, though, do you think you should be repeating that about our soldiers?

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: When a guy tells me something like that…I didn't say that was our policies, but I know that some of that did happen. So, what I'm telling you is <crosstalk>..."

Here is cutting through Rush Limbaugh's nonsense and misleading spin:

Gen. Clark heard first hand what had happened directly from the soldiers themselves, he was only quoting what he was being directly told.  The alternative to this would be for Gen. Clark to say that soldiers were lying to him which would be an absurdity!

So Gen. Clark did NOT get that quote from John Kerry and MoveOn.org as Rush Limbaugh claims below, he got it directly from the troops themselves first hand!

Gen. Clark also made it very clear that "I didn't say that was our policies."

So clearing up Rush Limbaugh's inaccuracies over his statement below was a very simple and easy thing to do but two much bigger problems still remain.

First, about 20 million people on nearly 600 stations heard Rush Limbaugh say this outright lie and misrepresentation about Gen. Clark:

Rush Limbaugh: The King of Talk Radio Reigns Over Liberal Talkers in Top 25 Radio Markets

Known as the media pundit who reshaped the political landscape with his entertaining and informative brand of conservatism, Mr. Limbaugh is also widely credited with resuscitating AM radio by many industry experts.  With nearly 20 million weekly listeners, The Rush Limbaugh Show is nationally syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks on nearly 600 stations.

SOURCE Premiere Radio Networks

Second, the more that Gen. Clark publicly speaks out against the errors and evils of Neoconservatism and the more serious of candidate that he becomes for President, the more attacks like what you see below will be publicly directed at Gen. Clark from Rush Limbaugh and from his many clones all over the country to millions of impressionable people!

If someone well known and credible like a James Carville or a Paul Begala does not step up to the plate to try and take this divisive liar Rush Limbaugh down in public, then expect to see much "more of the same" of what you see below as Gen. Clark gets more public attention!

We all know that Rush Limbaugh is wrong but that is NOT the issue.  The issue is that many millions of impressionable people are listening to him and are believing what he says because there is nothing big enough in place to credibly respond to what he is saying!

When Gen. Clark came to Dallas, TX in February of 2005 to speak at an event that I attended, he said in his speech that Rush Limbaugh and people like him had to be seriously dealt with and he said that people in the grassroots should try and call in to shows like Rush Limbaugh's about once a week to try and expose them!

To just ignore what we see below only because we don't like to listen to it is NOT the answer.  That will only allow Rush Limbaugh and people like him to get stronger and then they will be even more difficult to deal with and expose in the future!

Rush Limbaugh and people like him are about the only thing keeping Bush's political head above water now with his overall low poll numbers by misrepresenting Bush's political opponents, by using fear tactics to persuade people to give Bush a free pass on his big problems, and by questioning people's patriotism and their support for the troops if they openly disagree with Bush and the Neocon agenda on foreign policy!

Ignoring this issue is only asking for "more of the same" of the garbage and propaganda that you see right below and that is just reality and the bottom line!

This makes me so angry that I would gladly take on Rush Limbaugh myself if it could ever be seriously arranged!

Ashley Wilkes: Our Troops Rough Up Women

February 1, 2006

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ashley Wilkes -- the esteemed General Wesley Clark -- was on Hannity & Colmes last night after the State of the Union speech. Colmes said to him, "Bush said that we're on the offensive in Iraq with a clear plan for victory, but again, I didn't hear what the plan was." Alan. Alan. We love you here, but of all things! How do you not know what the plan is? Alan, the line is you "disagree with the plan." It's not that there "isn't one." You guys are the ones that don't have a plan about anything. Anyway, here's what Ashley Wilkes said.

CLARK: When you use phrases like "offensive," well, you know, we're not going to go down -- I hope we've gotten over this sort of kicking in the doors and roughing up the women, that some people said that we did some of.

RUSH: Some people? I remember who said it.

KERRY: [T]here is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the -- of -- of -- of -- historical customs, religious customs, whether you like it or not. Iraqis should be doing that.

RUSH: Yes, Iraqis ought to be doing the terrorizing, not US soldiers. So here's Ashley Wilkes last night, "Well, you use the phrase like 'offensive.'" Gaaah! He's a former general! Offensive. "Well, you know, we're not going to go down-- I hope we've gotten over this kicking down the doors and roughing up the women." (Laughing.) And then, as you know, my friends, I have a spy who is on the MoveOn.org mailing list. And listen to this. Dear Pete -- this is a MoveOn.org mass mailing that went out -- with President Bush's State of the Union address last night and the confirmation of Sam Alito, it can feel like a dark moment, but here's the important thing to remember, Pete. The 2006 elections are only a few months away and if we keep our eyes on this goal we're in a position to win big. So instead of griping about the lies and inaccuracies in the president's speech last night -- admitting there weren't any -- we're going to go on offense big time. We're going to start kicking down the doors and beating up the women. No, he didn't say that, but if Wesley Clark read this -- I'm sure Wesley Clark is on the mailing list -- he probably had that thought cross his mind.

We're going to go on offense big time. We have a new plan. We have a new plan to change control of Congress in 2006. Three million of us on this e-mail list. If we all commit ourselves to making this happen, Pete, it will happen, but we need to start now. Victory this fall won't be easy. It will require people on the ground, ads in the air, and of course money to pay organizers. So this week we're aiming to take the fight to the Republicans by raising the first 250 grand for our plan. If just 2,500 of us contribute a hundred bucks we can do it. Will you join us Pete? Our goal is to raise 250 grand before tomorrow night. I didn't read the whole letter, I don't know what the plan is. I don't know if they actually get to the plan, but anyway, the State of the Union -- another bit of evidence that it was just a gland slam home run last night.

General Wesley Clark on Hannity and Colmes
January 31, 2006
Transcript by Melange

Alan Colmes: One of the things he said, tonight he said “we're on the offensive in Iraq with a clear plan for victory” but I didn't hear…again, I didn't hear what the plan was.

So, what I'm telling you is <crosstalk>

Hannity: It seems irresponsible, General.

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: It's not irresponsible. What's irresponsible is to use big broad phrases like “offensive” when, in fact, what we need to be doing in Iraq is getting a political solution. All of our generals will tell you that and so will the politicians...

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: I've studied these situations. I've talked to people all the time. I very carefully follow these events, so this is my judgment as a strategist. It has nothing to do with politics. <crosstalk>

Hannity: I would

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: It's not about ambition and it's not about partisanship.

Hannity: I understand that.

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: But I'll tell you this. This country has to understand and respect others. <crosstalk> It cannot just go in and bulldoze countries...

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: Well, actually you know, I predicted the invasion would be over in three weeks. I said we didn't have enough forces to really do the job afterwards. If you read my book I said I thought we'd handle this and we'd be out of here by now so I'm surprised at how poorly it's gone considering the overwhelming American preponderance of power but I think that our troops shouldn't be blamed for that. I think that our troops have done a great job. I think it comes to faulty policies.

Alan Colmes: We appreciate you being on the show tonight. Thank you sir.

GENERAL WESLEY CLARK: Thank you, Alan.

Alan Colmes: Good to see you once again. Thank you very much.

this is the result of opposition research... they take an image that has a clear memory file in everyone's mind..... and morph it onto our Dem ...... now this means that they want to eliminate him early and you saw it on Hannity ( good cop bad cop attacking his words credibility his reasoning his motives )  there has been a SEACHANGE .... they are in full 2008 presidential campaign mode NOW.... they studied him and worked up a strategy to attack him... this is the result of long in depth strategy how to 'take down' Wesley Clark.... WES/He is a strong guy ... they want to make him look like a weak soft man...like a Hollywood actor someone who pretends to be something - someone acting...... they want to plant some doubt in people's mind...you can be sure they have focus group tested this they know the public KNOWS HE IS THE REAL DEAL so they have to begin the sabotage the undermining of his public ICONIC image by using image trickery )  and second do you remember what happened to Wilkes... he was wiped by Scarlett  she busted his chops in business ... he ended up working for her after his life was shattered ... Scarlett on the other hand was a perfect SOUTHERN PREDATOR that is the lesson they want THEIR people to take away that a successful southern predator is better than a real deal US officer; first of all the opposition LURKS this blog... and what do they see here... all the girls ( and men ) love Wesley... so they need to make sure their base the SOUTHERN GIRLS  don't love him that they love instead a SOUTHERN PREDATOR WHO IS A WOMAN... that is their target to make sure that SOUTHERN WOMEN have an alternative ICON image to compare him to so they don't fall in love with a smart good man in uniform... so what does that tell you....  well their target audience is the south ....they are first protecting their southern GOP base   that they are afraid to lose to Wes.... and please do you next level of planning in private chat rooms ....  do you see what their first move out of the box is  presented on both Hannity and Limbaugh .. the words & the images campaign has begun (remember this ....there will be a word campaign and an image campaign going on simultaneously from now on )...  ( their first move out of the box is to ) plant a seed of doubt about Wes in their GOP base mind... then they will build on that doubt but at the same time provide an alternative ICON until they put their actual GOP candidate up against our eventual candidate.. they are very afraid of Wesley... this is full 2008 presidential politics... we have arrived and they are ready for him... now what are you going to do about it... remember don't argue their attack labels and points.... see what they are doing... protecting their southern GOP base and develop your own strategy and begin there in the south with your own strategy to win 2008. ( we had someone on the blog tonight  who that fell for it line and sinker - sorry - he/she thought Wes looked weaker than before INSTEAD he/she/it should have been able to see that the GAME IS A FOOT ... THERE HAS BEEN A SEACHANGE AT FOX and that should have told whomever

to expect to see more of it from now on - stick with Wes don't fall for their TACTIC be ready with your own strategy because being just a fan  and HOPING to win...is sure  not as effective as being a political operative and I don't know why we are so afraid to become political operatives... )

that Ashley Wilkes is a fictional character...I don't think he quite understands that. (but drug clouded minds are often living in a make believe lala land so it's not too surprising)

Wes Clark, on the other hand, is very much a flesh and blood reality. Now that is something that truly terrifies people who live in a drug induced lala land.

merging achieving blur between fantasy and reality is a definate goal of psychological operations of all types ... it may seem silly to you but it is a powerful strategy that they have unloaded on US mass consciousness and collective unconsciousness with great success

silly about it. It's been a winger tactic for years. (wingers of all stripes world wide).

Just thought I'd point out that the druggie Rush is a victem of his own tactics.

would/could call Rush's show and set that drug-addled, lying piece of shit windbag straight.  If he could  get through the screeners, that is. To have  someone call him on his lies would be the ultimate.

Rush. I wonder if it was inevitable that he become addicted to some kind of speed the moment this nickname was given to him.

Before he turned into a such a monstrosity he must have been one of those breathless little kids where you're like- "Okay buddy... slllllooooooooooooowwwww down, okay? Now, what's all this?"
haaaaaaa

I love when TDS has kids read the Great Moments of Pundrity stuff.

I'm just shaking my head here. What a sad sack of human misery!

They do not like the Ed Schultz Show being on Armed Forces Radio- do they? But then they don't understand how it is they who are actually undermining America & that they are simply tools themselves, do they. Really sad.

Both passed their sell by dates now and are just pathetic excuses for what they were. We need others with guts and gravitas who will stand up, speak out and got to bat for each other too.

he said that many of his marine buddies, who were also Republicans, tried to call in and take on Limbaugh.
They were never able to get through--totally screened out.

My feeling is that the best antidote to this is Ed Schultz, who obviously appeals to a lot of these Limbaugh listeners and is, as we all know, being heard now on Armed Forces Radio.

It would be really great, particularly in the red states, if Ed could get on more stations locally. I think that this can be done by petition or letters to stations that are not doing that well in the ratings department. I will be bringing this up when I go to my precinct meeting next week.

Whether or not Wes runs we've got to keep people's minds open to him, the people he is reaching on FOX are the people who need to hear and understand his wisdom most.

I agree with Raleighite, we've got to promote Ed Shultz, and I think we need to keep a closer eye on the right wing blogs, it's pretty clear that they are in campaign mode now.
