ClarkCast 2: Common Voices

ClarkCast
Hello everyone. As promised, there is another ClarkCast available, entitled: Common Voices. This segment follows up on the Beacon of Hope theme set by General Clark last week. Citizens from across America talk about America's Beacon of Hope and how the policies of the past five years have affected them personally.

If you have iTunes 4.9 installed, you can subscribe to the ClarkCast via the iTunes Music Store. Click here for a iTunes shortcut to the ClarkCast
Or click here for a direct download.
Please discuss the ClarkCast here. We'd love any feedback and thoughts about our second effort.
Cool. I want to thank everyone who took the time to record their stories. We'll be doing a "Common Voices" segment every month. We'll be looking for some more folks for next month's segment, which is tentatively focused on the environment and global warming.
We haven't quite figured out what the "Question of the Day" or specific topic to guide the comments yet. Will circle back wity y'all. It is around Earth Day. Some things I'm thinking of is getting folks to make an Earth Day resolution. Don't know. Just trying to be creative somehow.
Kudos to all Clarkies who participated in these FHA's! You each touched on one of the prime issues for Americans and did Wes (and his supporters), proud. Can't wait for the next!

Don't forget to email the ClarkCast links everywhere. We need to get as many people subscribed as possible. Make sure they hear General Clark's podcast every week.

and I'm posting them on all my websites and blogs...and yes...I'm stealing the graphic too

I'm not sure we have anything of so much value that we wouldn't want folks to use it to spread General Clark's message.
What is your suggestion? Cutting and pasting the URL of the page on which they appear into an e-mail? I'm not sure how to do it otherwise. I can click and listen, and I think I managed to save the file on my PC, but I'm not sure what to do next - don't have an iPod or any other fancy device, just a wireless network here at home, no kids, just cats, so might not be "with it."
I'm not sure what it means to subscribe either - would I get e-mail alerts telling me to download a file? Perhaps I just need to poke around and try and figure it out. Never heard of some of those software packages! I guess I'd better get up to speed.
Warmest thanks to Larry for letting my voice be heard, and thanks to Stan for recognizing me! I had a last sentence about why I supported Clark but I guess it was too long, or perhaps didn't fit in with the rest.

Well done - everyone! Mary Lee's doing the intros? Nice job!

...the PodCatcher thing. I have iTunes (don't know what version), but I usually just download the MP3, but I'm willing to try to subscribe if I can figure out how.
Actually, subscribing seems cumbersome for many technodummies who don't have (and aren't interested in) iPods or podcasts.
Could it be set up so that ordinary people like me can subscribe simply by providing an e-mail address with a notice that a new MP3 is available with a link to it?

...what's the URL? (Like I said, I'm a technodummy.)

Great concept guys! And the "Common Voices" tag reminds all once again that it's the Common Good that Wes and WesPAC (all of us) are fighting for.
Yes, I've downloaded the Clarkcasts...takes forever, but well worth it, and not quite as long a "forever" as it does for video clips (which I've all but given up on).
Like Stan I just save them. I've got Itunes on this computer but it's version 4.7. Figured I'd upgrade so I could try the subscription route. Got everything started and then watched the "estimated time left" balloon as the "transfer rate" deflated. When it reached 9+ hours I just closed the window and backed slowly from the room LOL.
JEN! You're sounding good m'dear! I remember that voice. What a joy to hear it again.
When our elected representatives are sworn in, they place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution, they do NOT put their hand on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible!

I was hoping no one would recognize me! LOL!! I tried so hard not to sound like I was reading.
Some of the sound quality could be better I think, but otherwise it's pretty cool.

It didn't sound scripted at all. If you wouldn't have told I wouldn't have known.
Ohio is going to miss you so much!

there are definitely things I will miss here. It's uncommonly beautiful for one thing, and really where I am - a very very blue area - is full of the nicest people ever. I often think maybe they are too polite and that's why the corruption here has been able to flouish...
When I moved here I joked that I was moving to OH to vote for Kerry. It then turned in to a 2 year adventure and despite myself, I've crafted a life here that I will miss...
But I know if I spent one more muggy/buggy summer here I'd remember why I want to be west of the Rockies! ;)
Have to admit it's a bit scary not having a home though! At our age, the security/comfort of a home is pretty huge...

Home isn't a place, it's a state of mind. I've moved a few times (not as many as some) and have experienced some major life changes -- two marriages, two divorces, moves, job changes, and a career-ending stroke.
But I feel perfectly at home. My home now, along with my ex and best friend, is here -- with Clarkies all over the world.
Homeless to me would mean no access to all you wonderful Clarkies.

at home here too,Stan.
Your frequent postings adds a lot to the sense of continuity and of the cycles in our community.
I think a lot of people feel at home here because it's decent, has a lot of people who like being lifted up and lifting up others,a climate of learning rather than having to either know a subject well already or not being interested in learning at all, or being expected to be studying more than we're interested in doing. And all with a good feeling of respect that people have their own lives and reasons for wanting to or not wanting to be here at any particular time.
And a spirit of concern when times are hard, without getting goopy or intrusive, and a spirit of applause and happy for you when times are good.

VERY--Wes Clark gives common people a voice for the Common Good.
Thank You all!
Yes, we think it's cool to have different voices on ClarkCasts. Not just a politician pontificating every time.

Every time people can hear Wes' voice speaking with empathy and passion about the people in our country and around the world, it lets people know how much he cares. That's a good thing.
Also, don't forget to post a review of ClarkCasts in the iTunes Music Store. I assume you gotta have an account on Apple/iTunes to be able to do it.

Senator Barbara Boxer on Ed Schultz said today on radio 'that the truth is going to get the raw end of the deal' Is that true. She said she signed onto Feingold's censure because she remembers the lies this administration has been cravenly telling and she can't take it anymore. So few Congress people so few Democrats will stand up to Bush ideology the one world global aristocracy - why bother I am not going to ever see another decent decade - I wonder if my child will or her children will..... the Democrats are for the one world aristocracy cause they intend to be/come the aristocracy...super!

I am angry about this and I haven't worked it out yet. It's about who does the counting - will King George once again have no clothes.

It's so good to be able to hear Wes and get a shot of inspiration and courage.
In SC, we have a couple of Dems running for Congress. One is Lee Ballenger, a veteran of the first Iraq War. He spent 6 years in the Navy before becoming a high school teacher. He is articulate and energetic, but will need money and help. His district is over 60% registered Republicans.
In the congressional district that includes Greenville, SC, there is also a Dem running for the House, again, it's going to be an uphill slog. Still, maybe we can lay the groundwork in this congressional election for a shift back to Democratic power in this region. Anything we do in our local elections this year will serve to strengthen us in 2008. So I encourage everyone in Republican districts not to lose heart, but slog away as if your life depended on it anyway. Every effort we make chips away at the opposition, and helps to turn the tide.
Early Bird is right. It is about the counting. In SC, it looks as though they have moved to paperless electronic machines. Only been home a year, from NY, so I'm not up to speed.
My question is, can we as voters set up class action lawsuits against local Boards of Elections, demanding a return to the system where each precinct knows its tally and then has to call it in? I'm concerned not with the honesty and good intentions of locals in precincts, I worked as an election inspector and think there is not so much wiggle room at the precinct level when members of all parties are present as well as poll watchers.
But I think if there were more legal challenges, in as many places as possible, it would force election boards to rectify the paper trail issue.
Is anyone more current on this subject than I am lately, and if so, can you share what you are learning?

hope it helps
