WesPAC fundraiser with George Soros
Submitted by Judy from NJ on April 19, 2006 - 4:48pm.
I got this e-mail. Wish I could go.
Dear Judy,
In addition to the unprecedented threats facing Americans from enemies abroad, our economic security, personal rights, and values are also under attack here at home. Facing these many challenges now and in the future will take much more than the simple solutions of the past.
A starting point to finding new, wiser policies -- as well as the leadership to promote them -- is to provide a candid forum for concerned Americans who recognize the urgency of the present landscape to voice their beliefs. Such an opportunity will allow views that are not always heard to become part of a critical discussion.
On the evening of Thursday, April 27th, George Soros is welcoming me into his Manhattan home for an in-depth discussion on foreign policy, homeland security, Iraq, Iran, and much more.
Please join us for this unique evening of conversation.
Following the small reception, I will also be hosting a dinner at the Carlyle where the conversation will continue.
To view details and to RSVP for the reception and/or dinner, please click here, call 202-204-9050, or send an e-mail to: rob@ashmeadgroup.com .
Sincerely,
Wes Clark
This event will benefit WesPAC: Securing America's Future, General Clark's political action committee that works to elect Democrats to all levels of federal, state, and local government, as well as to provide leadership on U.S. national security issues and to develop new, innovative solutions to the challenges facing America at home and abroad.
Rove's stepdown related to today's Tom DeLay court decision?
It appears that while the Houston courts today upheld two of the lower court's decisions on the Tom DeLay case that were due to a more or less technical matter, they did not address at all some very serious matters having to do with 06 Republican campaign money. Very serious.
From today's Houston Chronicle:
"The ruling brings DeLay, R-Sugar Land, one step closer to a trial on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering — charges that Priest [the judge of the lower court] upheld. "
and
The charges stem from how the DeLay-founded Texans for a Republican Majority raised and spent $600,000 in corporate money. State law allows a political committee to raise corporate money to pay for administrative expenses but not for candidates."
And their decisions on the ones they did address can now be appealed again,or higher, with those appeals lasting for months.
Is this the reason that Rove is "giving up oversight on policy development"?
I believe it is. Or else it's one of the most unlikely non-meaningful co-incidences in time in all of the history of the republic.
In all of the mass of words on tv re Rove's move out of the whitehouse job to the district campaigns, I've not seen/heard one word on tv re the possible connection to today's court decision.
Cheers to the Houston Chronicle. Link to the fine Chronicle article:
Clearsky
General Wes Clark supporter

Soros has always been a Clark supporter..
This time most of his capitial will hopefully fund his presidential campaign, Clark's that is..
I am so glad he is using some of his vast resources to support WesPAC.
The General gets it right. Competence--What a concept!

I hope he does raise a lot of money... Corporate and individuals with high income have a great power supporting the right candidate… But it is always a question, what comes first the economy or the safety for the people and nature? And in some cases, what benefits for their own interest…

it's waaaaaaay out of my price range. I sure hope the elite decide to meet and greet General Clark & Mr. Soros! I'm certain the WesPAC coffers could use a little extra padding. This is the perfect way to accomplish that.
"COUNTRY before Party!" -- Wes Clark

Excellent Wes and George Soros have hooked up, tho. Huh? Hope they make lots of money.
