ANALYSIS: The illegal immigration issue is "Political Kryptonite" to GOP Neocons
Submitted by Mitch Dworkin on May 15, 2006 - 5:48am.
Hello Everyone:
Please see all of the GOP Neocon grassroots documentation below, the illegal immigration issue is like "Political Kryptonite" to GOP Neocons. The longer that they are exposed to that issue, the weaker that their political resolve to vote in November will be. That will be a huge help to the candidates who we are supporting now if we can help to keep that issue in the news and on the blogs!
Here is what the GOP Neocon grassroots are so upset about concerning Bush and the illegal immigration issue:

Bush Favors Citizenship for Illegals
"President Bush generally favors plans to give millions of illegal immigrants a chance at U.S. citizenship without leaving the country, but does not want to be more publicly supportive because of opposition among conservative House Republicans, according to senators who attended a recent White House meeting..."
Here is also why George Allen is so popular among the GOP Neocons right now:
http://www.georgeallen.com/site/c.hgITL5PKJtH/b.1549613/k.95AE/Immigration.htm
What you see below are from a huge GOP Neocon yahoo group that I stay on to monitor. They seem to be watching Lou Dobbs just over the immigration issue and in the process are watching some real news (instead of FOX News) where they can see and hear what is really going on in Iraq and elsewhere for a change!
Just like how exposure to "Kryptonite" would weaken Superman but have no affect on people of the Earth in the comics and on television, the illegal immigration issue has the same effect on many GOP Neocons with their political resolve to vote!
The illegal immigration issue will not keep Democrats away from the polls but it is upsetting many GOP grassroots Neocons now and will help to keep many of them away from the polls in November which is great. Check this out from below:
"If Republicans pass G.W. (”Guest-Worker”) Bush’s guest-worker plan, then below will be my donation to the RNC in 2006 and 2008 (minus my vote in the elections):"

Seeing things like this is what helps to make it fun to be a GOP Neocon media monitor and observer in my opinion. I strongly encourage all people everywhere to do media monitoring because that is how we will know what our opposition in the grassroots all over the country are saying and doing!
I would also encourage everyone to talk as much as you can about the illegal immigration issue to GOP Neocons because that will help to keep many of them at home on election day in November which will be of great help to the candidates who we are now supporting all over the country!
This issue keeping GOP Neocons at home on election day will help our candidates get the votes that they need to win their races which will lead to us taking back power in at least one branch of Congress in November which is what will lead to restoring real accountability back to government before 2008. That is what it is all about!

CNN anchor says administration following 'absurd' policies on border security, illegals

CNN's Lou Dobbs
Outspoken CNN anchor Lou Dobbs is thrashing President Bush and senators for continuing to follow what he calls "absurd policies on both issues of border security and illegal immigration," and asks the rhetorical question, "How dumb do you all think we are?"
The scathing remarks come amid this week's report that U.S. officials are tipping off the Mexican government as to the positions of the Minutemen , private American citizens looking to stop the ongoing invasion of illegal aliens across the border.
"President Bush continues to push his guest-worker program and amnesty for anywhere between 11 million and 20 million illegal aliens, and he insists still that nothing less than what he calls comprehensive immigration reform is acceptable," says Dobbs.
"And the lies keep coming from both political parties. This president is not enforcing the immigration laws enacted by Congress, and this Congress is failing in its duty of oversight to demand that those laws be followed. Only a fool, Mr. President, Sen. Kennedy, Sen. McCain, would believe you when you speak of new legislation. You don't enforce the laws now. Would you do so if the law were more to your liking? Would you secure our borders and ports? Would you halt illegal immigration? Those are rhetorical questions, only, I assure you. The answers are obvious; obvious because of your conduct."
Addressing the president, Dobbs says up to 3 million illegal aliens continue to cross our border with Mexico each year, with enforcement against illegal employers of illegal aliens in this country all but nonexistent.
"How do you explain that the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have all but ended their investigations and inspections of employers that hire illegal aliens? Again, only a rhetorical question, because we all know the answer," Dobbs said.
The CNN anchor goes on to state the "official record," noting only 318 employers out of five and a half million in the U.S. have been fined for hiring illegals since 2001. In 2004, only three employers were fined.
"That is a dismal record, Mr. President, as dismal as the fact that the number of ICE agents assigned to enforce immigration laws in the workplace has declined from only 240 back in 1999 to now less than 100," Dobbs said.
He lays blame for the lack of border security and illegal immigration squarely on the shoulders of "two political parties that are beholden to corporate America, the largest employers of illegal aliens, and the leadership of both parties that are selling out American citizens in search of cheap labor and political advantage. How dumb do you all think we are? Again, that's only a rhetorical question."
Dobbs says he'll suggest on his television show in the coming days that "the leadership of both the Republican and Democratic parties begin to take some notice of our laws and our expectations that those laws be enforced," as well as reminding them they represent all U.S. citizens, and not just corporate America and special interests.
Dobbs has been making headlines in recent weeks, coming under fire by groups not opposed to illegal immigration.
Meanwhile, an "Ax AOL" campaign was organized last month by defenders of illegal aliens to target Dobbs.
"Why AOL?" asks one of the promoters of the campaign rhetorically. "Lou Dobbs is the number one money maker for CNN so he is not going anywhere as long as he makes money for CNN and right now he is making a ton of money for CNN bashing 'illegal immigration.' CNN is owned by Time Warner and Time Warner also owns AOL, which is being extensively promoted to increase its value as witnessed last week by selling 5 percent of AOL stock to Google. This 5 percent cost Google $1 billion setting a benchmark value for AOL stock. The Google-AOL deal gives AOL a valuation of $20 billion. Billionaire Time Warner shareholder Carl Icahn who controls 3 percent of Time Warner shares has been organizing a proxy battle for control of Time Warner wants to sell AOL."

Article: GOP Commits Suicide
Here’s the infamous Republican email (with which I do not necessarily agree) that has been forwarded to me numerous times. I am only posting it here to demonstrate the discontent of many Republicans.
Email:
If Republicans pass G.W. (”Guest-Worker”) Bush’s guest-worker plan, then below will be my donation to the RNC in 2006 and 2008 (minus my vote in the elections):

I have been a volunteer for the Republican Party in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2004, often working about 30 hours a week. I can assure you that if Bush’s amnesty bill passes, I will NOT do a thing for the Republicans in 2006 or 2008 and I will not even vote Republican.

I can no longer support him due to his refusal to do anything about our borders and his obscene behavior in regards to Israel and his kow towing to the PLO terrorists. He sealed his doom–and ours, I’m afraid–with these actions.

I agree with your thoughts. However sad but true ,when we openly speak out about such things we end up biting our own tushes. These angry Republicans and conservative will sit at home and not vote. Then they will see what it is really like to live in a state where Democrat liberals run everything. Arnold Schwarzenegger cant’ do a thing to change this state. A true conservative would never get elected here.
People know what they really need to do without constantly telling them. Getting angry Republicans angrier. They need to call , write , fax and pitch a fit. Their angry words best be followed up with a Republican vote and the end of the controversy. If they allow the Democrats to get into office because they did not see the changes they preferred made, all will be lost. America will be living under a real socialistic party. They are far worse then any RINO Republican.
Congressman Tom Tancredo will not be the face of the Republican Party. The Republican Party made changes because that’s what the voter’s wanted.
Answer? Work with who every we are given in 2008. Unity is the WORD!

I can understand your frustration. However, simply removing yourself, your input, and your service simply hands over victory to those who you profess to oppose, and they are the liberal democrats.
In Canada, I have felt the same sense of betrayal and frustration, wondering why I keep supporting some of our Conservatives.
While I would love to cut off my support to send a clear message, I feel that actions such as those will only serve to harm the nation that I call home.
Instead, I have purposed to try and persuade good people with a clear direction to get involved. Things may not change tomorrow, but at least they will be headed in the right direction.
Keep your faith and don’t give up on the values that you so dearly believe in. Support the right causes, and work from within to install worthy candidates.

I will never vote again for a Republican. I found a true conservative party known as the Constitution Party. www.constitutionparty.com They will have my vote from now on. I actually wasted a vote on Bush. Stop the Illegal Invasion Today!

Maybe some recent polls will put some backbone into Senate Republicans. But don't bet the rent money on it.
The percentages vary a little from poll to poll, as is usually the case, but these polls agree on one thing -- the public's top priority on the immigration issues is controlling the borders. They prefer the tougher bill passed by the House of Representatives to the weaker approach of the Senate.
The House of Representatives bill has been depicted in much of the media as harsh or draconian, as if it is a terrible thing to make illegal entry into this country a crime. The House bill is what is supposed to have sparked massive protest demonstrations around the country by illegal aliens and their supporters.
Those demonstrations may have impressed the media and intimidated politicians but they didn't change many minds among the American people. A majority of Republicans, Democrats, and independents all favor the tougher House bill. The percentages differed among these groups but they were all majorities.
What is really striking is that 53 percent of Hispanics supported the House bill. The loudmouths at the demonstrations did not speak for all Hispanics.
On this issue, as on some others, the Democrats in Congress are more united than the Republicans, even though the Republicans have a majority in both Houses. But a united minority can often defeat a divided majority.
As things stand at the moment on the immigration issue, the Democrats clearly have the upper hand politically as this year's elections approach.
The Democrats can solidify their base behind amnesty. But the Republicans' base -- 81 percent of whom are behind the tougher House bill -- are undermined, if not demoralized, by the vacillation of the Senate Republicans and the Bush administration on strong border control -- are undermined, if not demoralized, by the vacillation of the Senate Republicans and the Bush administration on strong border control, apparently out of fear of alienating Hispanic voters.
In view of the latest polls, it is not clear how many Hispanic voters are going to be alienated. The greater danger is that the Congressional Republicans will alienate their own supporters.
The irony in all this is that the Republicans could turn the tables on the Democrats and put them on the defensive, instead of being on the defensive themselves.
There is no reason other than politics why amnesty and border control have to be in the same bill. It will take time to see how various new border control methods work out in practice and there is no reason to rush ahead to deal with the people already illegally in this country before the facts are in on how well the borders have been secured.
Separate border control legislation would force the Democrats to stand up and be counted on this issue, without the political cover of a package deal. Some of the more weak-kneed Republicans also want this political cover but taking away the package deal would do far more damage to the Democrats.
Legislation dealing solely -- and seriously -- with border control might be difficult for some Congressional Republicans to vote for but it would be a political nightmare for the Democrats in Congress. And a bill takes just 51 votes to pass in the Senate.
Unfortunately, President Bush has pushed the package deal and used the straw man argument that we cannot find and deport millions of people, even though virtually no one has said that we could.
The real question is whether sweeping the illegal alien problem under the rug by calling them legal will bring in still more millions of illegals, as a previous amnesty has already done. Nor will calling amnesty by some other name do anything more than undermine the confidence of the American people in general and the Republican base in particular.
Sometimes caution is the most dangerous policy. General MacArthur once defined defensive warfare in one word: "Defeat."
Frankly, the Republicans deserve to lose this fall's election, after their wild spending and pandering to economic ignorance on gas prices. But a Republican defeat would only bring in the Democrats -- and the country does not deserve anything that disastrous. The Democrats' petty obstruction and irresponsible demagoguery in wartime disqualifies them for national leadership when a nuclear Iran and nuclear terrorists loom on the horizon.

Bush’s open-borders politics transcends politics
Once again, the rest of the world has caught up with VFR. For years, contributors at this site have been obsessing on President Bush’s seemingly impenetrable motives, while most of the rest of America simply hated him or loved him. Now it seems everyone has become aware of the utter strangeness of Bush, and is trying to figure him out. Thus Parapundit repeats speculations on Bush (including those of a disgusting nature) by the Darwinian reductionist Gregory Cochran, and the blogger Clayton offers several possible explanations on why President Bush keeps pushing open borders so hard despite the damage it is causing him. Clayton’s ideas include: (1) Bush has made a deal with Mexico whereby Mexico apprehends terrorists in exchange for us letting in illegals; (2) Bush is afraid that if we shut off the flow of illegal immigrants, Mexico would erupt into revolution; (3) Bush is concerned that cutting off the supply of illegal laborers would drive up labor rates, causing inflationary pressures on the U.S. economy; (4) Bush is concerned about alienating Hispanic U.S. citizens and residents; (5) Bush is pandering to corporate interests that want cheap and docile labor.
I don’t find these theories compelling or even plausible. To me it is plain as day that Bush’s open borders fixation does not proceed from an ordinary political or rational calculation. It is supra-rational. It is of the nature of what Eric Voegelin called the concupiscential drive to empire.
Specifically, Bush is a true believing liberal. America’s white racism, which so cruelly and artificially separates us from our brown brothers to the south, must be overcome, by breaking down our borders, breaking down all resistance to the open borders creed, turning American into a nonwhite country, and creating a new order. There must be no compromise. Open borders are to Bush what the League of Nations were to Wilson.

ROBERTS: Dennis Prager, have Republicans pretty much given up on the idea that President Bush can get to 40 percent before the election?
PRAGER: I can't speak for Republicans on it. I can only tell you that I think that when people enter the polls in November, they will have -- the Republicans certainly will have the following choice. They will have to choose a Republican Party that they're not all that happy with versus a Democratic Party that they believe is hurting the country.
I think that most Republicans will not act like children and say because I didn't get everything I wanted from my party, I will stay home. Some will. I don't consider that particularly sophisticated or mature, but so be it. People are very emotional creatures and they may not show up that day. By and large, the thought of John Conyers and Nancy Pelosi running the Congress will push Republicans to vote.

Bush to Speak About Immigration on Monday
By TERENCE HUNT, The Associated Press
May 12, 2006 5:00 PM (1 hr ago)
WASHINGTON - President Bush plans to address the nation Monday night on the immigration debate, trying to build momentum for legislation that could provide millions of illegal immigrants a chance to become American citizens.
The White House said it was seeking time from television networks for the president's remarks at 8 p.m. EDT. Bush is to speak from the Oval Office and his address is expected to run less than 20 minutes.
"This is crunch time," Tony Snow, the new White House press secretary said Friday at his first off-camera, or informal, briefing.
On Thursday, Senate leaders reached a deal to revive a broad immigration bill that had appeared doomed just several weeks ago.
Key to the agreement is who will be negotiating a compromise with the House, which last December passed an enforcement-only bill that would subject the estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to felony charges as well as deportation.
Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said the Senate will send 14 Republicans and 12 Democrats to negotiate with the House, with seven of the Republicans and five Democrats coming from the Judiciary Committee. The remaining seven Republicans will be chosen by Frist and remaining seven Democrats chosen by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev.

Tom Tancredo Skeptical on Bush Border Plan
Leading illegal immigration foe Rep. Tom Tancredo says that if President Bush announces a plan to deploy the National Guard along the U.S.-Mexican border in his speech to the nation Monday night, he'll support it.
"We train National Guard all over the country, and there is no reason why we shouldn't be conducting that training on our borders," Tancredo told ABC News. "Really, we are not trying to take them from other places where they are needed."
But he remains skeptical on whether the White House will follow through.
"I hate to be too cynical about this, but my guess is it is simply being done to influence the debate in the Senate and in the House on the immigration package," Tancredo told Knight Ridder news on Friday. "And once the debate is over, we'll go back to business as usual."
The Colorado Republican said he fears that Bush is merely "is hoping to take the argument off the table that we're not doing enough on the enforcement side so that they can get the bill passed giving him an amnesty/guest-worker plan, and that will be the last you hear about securing the borders."
Tancredo has been at odds with the White House for years over the immigration issue. After a now legendary meeting in 2001 with top Bush advisor Karl Rove, where he warned that Bush was making a mistake by ignoring illegal immigration, Tancredo said he was told he'd never be invited back to the White House again.

Wow! Mitch! You have totally outdone yourself. Why, this is a Series Blog all by its lonesome, isn't it?
This is so interesting to me- the freepers are all crazy for cocoa puffs about undocumented workers and a border like a sieve. I had no idea this was their big thing.
Why does this particular issue get to them so? There's any number of giant lies, blunders, crimes etc. the gang of neocons has committed. Does this shatter the (false) image of a strong father to them? "A strong father would keep his his house locked tight?"
I mean- cheap labor has got to be close to their hearts. They seem to be extremely PRO cheap labor, as long as it happens out of sight out of mind in other countries. Typically these aren't the people you're going to find rallying against Walmart coming into their town, etc. (but they oughta be, if they love small business as they claim they do).
There's something very reptilian about this- and by that I mean a basic, basic survival instinct type of thing that is being wrongly triggered. I mean I know the admin multiplied & played on the sense of being attacked & threatened after 9/11, etc. but this "invasion" thing...
a great post at Kos this a.m. spoke of the two great illegal Bush moves- the Iraq War & invasions of our privacy!!
anyway- thanks for all your effort here. !
Defoliate Bush has obtained what is reputed to be an advance copy of the President's immigration proposals that will be outlined tonight in a televised address to the nation. In it, Bush will say that in order to protect our nation's borders, he is introducing a program called Secure Homeland Employer/Employee Program (SHEEP) to deal with our current immigration problems.
The novel concept of SHEEP would include implantation of a microchip within the bearer. Essentially, this will allow scanning of citizens and immediate verification of life history details as stored in the large Personal Repository of Biographic Ergonomics (PROBE) government database (already populated with much information including all phone calls made during the past 5 years). Data operations supported will include verification of US citizenship.
Funding for SHEEP will come from a government/private industry alliance with Diebold as the prime contractor for software development. For example, companies may enlist in the program by paying the government a fee that will be applied for development and maintainance of SHEEP. Each consumer will be scanned when making a purchase and this information will be added to the PROBE database - this information will be made available to member companies to support their marketing activities. Obviously, the benefit for companies is the replacement of antiquated 'frequent shopper' programs which only collect information on a subset of customers. The benefit to consumers is that SHEEP enrollees will be entitled to a 2% discount on all purchases. And the benefit to all is that it helps keeps us safe.
Enrollment in SHEEP will be strictly voluntary; however, citizens not enrolled in SHEEP may be forced to submit to manual methods of being PROBE'd (for example, while passing through airport security or seeking employment)

Subject: Fw: President Bush Calling for a Guest Worker Amnesty in his Address to the Nation Tonight!

President Bush to Address the Nation Tonight, Again Calling for a Guest Worker Amnesty
Tonight at 8 pm EST the President of the United States will try, once again, to use rhetoric to secure our borders. It is a continued example of the administration's strategy of words—
instead of deeds—when it comes to tough issues.
The President will address the nation from the Oval Office calling for the National Guard to be deployed to the nation's southern border. The plan to commit 5,000 National Guard troops along the border is a wool-over-the-eyes effort to resuscitate the unpopular Hagel-Martinez guest worker amnesty plan (which died in early April) in the Senate today. The President believes through this political stunt he can sound tough on security and the American people will reverse their overwhelming disapproval of his amnesty schemes.
His plan: use the already overtaxed National Guard to assist the Border Patrol, but not give them authority or responsibility for detentions or arrests of illegal crossers. This seems to be taking a direct cue from the successful Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. (whom the president called a "vigilante" group), in that they will simply provide "logistical" support.
This sudden push to "do everything… to secure the border" is "what the American people want," said the President's national security advisor Stephen Hadley. However, as the Senate continues to debate a massive guest worker amnesty program, the President has also indicated that his plan to deploy the National Guard is a token gesture to the conservatives of his party who have continued to oppose his scheme to bring in millions of foreign workers to take more American jobs and increase the burden on the middle class.
While his stunt seems to offer a more secure border, the President will continue to press for the Hagel-Martinez guest worker amnesty scheme; a true disaster in the making. Former Speaker of the House and architect of the GOP House takeover, Newt Gingrich admitted as much yesterday to Tim Russert on Meet the Press: "I voted in 1986 for the bill which in fact amnestied three — almost three million people. It said we're going to set up a temporary worker program, it said we're going to control the border, and it said we're going to enforce the law on, on employers. None of that happened. So now you are where we are today."
Yesterday, President Bush received a call from Mexican President Vicente Fox "concerned" about the proposed National Guard deployment. President Bush seemed to ease Fox's worries about securing our southern border as his office released a statement saying that Bush is "analyzing the administrative and logistical support of part of the National Guard, not the army, to help police the border." That statement alone uncovers the true purpose of this sudden move: political rhetoric to fool the American people.
While the President eases the worries of Mexican President Fox, the American people are still being threatened by not only a border that only looks to be more "secure", but also by the looming guest worker amnesty proposal set for debate today in the Senate. Please call your Senators to let them know you are NOT fooled by this "political stunt" and that anything less than enforcement-only legislation is NOT acceptable to the majority of Americans. It is time our elected officials listen to their bosses—the American people.

Jointly, over 3,200 people have signed up for our citizens action network.Given the large number of new members that have recently signed up, we would like to send out several prior action alerts (below). By the time you receive this message, President Bush will have given a nationwide television address calling for a commitment of 5,000 National Guard troops to assist the U.S. Border Patrol along the U.S.-Mexican Border. Given the Administration’s past hostility to securing our borders, we believe this “commitment” to be an effort solely to soften the anger most Americans feel over our open borders, just long enough to pass a massive guestworker/ amnesty bill supported by certain influential special interest groups.
Efforts to push a destructive amnesty bill through the U.S. Senate stalled last month thanks to all the letters, phone calls, and visits to politicians’ offices by ordinary Americans. The President consistently underestimated the depth of public opposition towards guestworker/ amnesty plans and other rewards for those who choose to illegally enter the U.S. Now the President is proposing the bare minimum in enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. 10,000 would be a more reasonable number of National Guard troops at the border, and his proposal would not give the National Guard authority or responsibility for detentions or arrests of illegal border crossers.
So we’re facing another ‘crunch time’ requiring every concerned American to make as many phone calls and write as many letters to Congressional representatives as possible. Please read the April 28, 2006 Action Alert (below) for information on contacting your elected officials, and the March 14, 2006 Action Alert (further below) for information on the enforcement-only bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate’s massive amnesty proposals.

APRIL 28, 2006 ACTION ALERTPlease commit to making a few brief phone calls each weekday to save our country until such time as the U.S. Congress fully understands just how opposed Americans are to guestworker/ amnesty plans and other rewards for those that snuck into our country illegally.
We are faced with the very real possibility of an amnesty of up to 20 million illegal immigrants, and the eventual destruction of the American middle class, if the Congress passes a guestworker/amnesty bill. This is a very real possibility that will permanently and profoundly alter the fabric of this great nation by destroying countless millions of jobs, destroying the assimilation process and English language standard that made America one cohesive country, erasing borders, and encouraging additional massive illegal immigration in the future. If there ever was a time to contact your representatives, it would be now.
You can easily find your federal elected officials at the following link: http://www3.capwiz.com/c-span/dbq/officials/ (provided by C-Span).
At a minimum, please contact the 2 Senators from your state, and your Congressional representative in the House of Representatives. You can reach any Senator or Congressperson toll free by calling the D.C. switchboard at 888.355.3588. Every official also has at least one local district office, so you can multiply the impact of your comments by contacting the local office(s) in addition to the Washington D.C. office. To find these district offices, be sure to also click on “(more district offices)” at the above link, or check out this list of all Senate offices nationwide: http://www.teamamericapac.org/senatorsaddresses.htm (provided by Team America).
The staff of FIRE Coalition and WeHireAliens.com cannot stress more strongly how important it is that you call or write your representatives at this time. Visiting the local offices of your Senators and House Representative would have an even greater impact. We recommend calling ahead of time to schedule an appointment with a staff member, but don’t take no for an answer. If they tell you they won’t allow visits, show up at their office anyways (just don’t tell them you called in advance), with a letter or personal note. And bring friends or colleagues along.
Don’t sweat the details. Most staffers are not inclined to debate you, but merely record your opinion and whether or not you are a voter in that elected official’s district or state. The message need not be complicated. At a minimum, we suggest including the following points:No Guest Worker Plans;
No Amnesty in any form;
No rewards for those that broke our laws by entering the U.S. illegally;
Secure our borders by whatever means necessary (such as National Guard troops assisting the U.S. Border Patrol and/or a fence across ALL the open border areas); and,
Enforce existing federal laws by imposing fines, even jail terms, on unscrupulous employers that hire illegal aliens instead of Americans or legal residents.Poll after poll demonstrates that vast majorities of Americans are on our side:
82% think that not enough is being done along the borders to keep illegal immigrants from crossing into the country (Time Magazine, March 2006)
60% unfavorable towards amnesty for illegal immigrants [vs. only 32% favorable] (NBC News/Wall Street Journal, March 2006)
81% think it’s ‘unfair’ to grant rights to illegal immigrants while thousands wait to come to the U.S. legally (Fox News/Opinion Dynamics, April, 2006)
61% stated they are less sympathetic toward illegal immigrants after the recent protests (Zogby, April, 2006)
74% favor major penalties for employers convicted of hiring illegal immigrants and strongly enforcing it (Time Magazine, January, 2006)
66% are concerned that illegal immigration will lead to an increase in terrorism and take jobs away from U.S. citizens (Fox News/Opinion Dynamics, April, 2006)
[May 15, 2006 Addendum: A recent Zogby poll of likely voters showed there is strong support for the Enforcement-only bill that passed the U.S. House, with 69% supporting making illegals go home by fortifying the border, forcing employer verification, and encouraging greater cooperation with local law enforcement while not increasing legal immigration. See http://www.cis.org/articles/2006/2006poll.html for details.]
We have the numbers, but we need to get Americans and legal residents to contact their politicians. If nothing else, please make that commitment to make a few brief phone calls each day until the U.S. Congress hears our voices.
Many thanks from the staff of FIRE Coalition and WeHireAliens.com.
MARCH 14, 2006 ACTION ALERT
On December 16, 2005, H.R. 4437 (the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act) passed the U.S. House of Representatives, and contained some beneficial border security and pro-enforcement provisions, among them:
• Construction of sections of fencing along almost 700 miles (out of the 2,000 miles) of the U.S.-Mexican border;
• A new electronic employment verification system whereby employers can check to see if a job applicant is legally in the country;
• A repeal of the “visa lottery” (which granted visas for 50,000 applicants, without consideration of job market conditions or the applicant’s background);
• A provision reaffirming state and local law enforcement’s inherent authority to assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws; and,
• New penalties for certain immigration-related crimes, including alien smuggling and passport fraud.
Of course, House bills must also pass the U.S. Senate and be reconciled with their Senate counterpart version. That is where we are now with respect to long-overdue immigration reform legislation. Unfortunately, the Senate has proven incredibly out of touch to public opinion, with Senators now debating a number of massive amnesty bills OPPOSED by two-thirds of Americans in poll after poll.
Why? Well, the Senators are listening to their large financial contributors, mainly multi-national business interests that are actively opposed to securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws, despite a obvious loss of American jobs and a growing threat of terrorist infiltration across our borders. These special interest groups would like employers to continue to be able to hire illegal aliens at exploitation wages rather than Americans at prevailing market wages (i.e., more respectable, living wages that Americans expect). Hiring an illegal alien is an illegal act, but unfortunately it is commonplace thanks to the near complete lack of federal enforcement of our existing immigration laws. What these special interest groups are in effect lobbying for is to allow employers to continue to break federal law and to prevent federal authorities from enforcing the law!
RIGHT NOW, the Judiciary Committee of the U.S. Senate is debating various massive amnesty plans, including Sen. Arlen Specter’s proposal to grant amnesty to an estimated 11-13 million illegal aliens who have broken America’s immigration laws, and allow unlimited numbers of new “guest workers” to enter the U.S. labor force. If adopted, the unlimited number of “guest workers” will lead to greater unemployment and force wages down for Americans and legal residents in many job sectors.
FIRE Coalition urges you to contact the Senate Judiciary Committee members and clearly state your opposition to ALL guest worker/amnesty plans, and your support for H.R. 4437. Here are their phone numbers:
Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) – 202-224-4254

The best sources of information on the continuing developments in the U.S. Senate are NumbersUSA (http://numbersusa.com/) and the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR: http://www.fairus.org/), two well-respected groups on the forefront of fighting for responsible legislation from the U.S. Congress. FIRE Coalition also urges those who have not already done so to sign up for action alerts from both FAIR and NumbersUSA, and to utilize their free services to fax your Congressional representatives directly from their websites.
If you want to prevent a permanent loss of American jobs and declining wages due to a massive amnesty, your involvement is needed now more than ever.
Many thanks, and God bless America.

There need to be many more "Seminar Callers" like this one to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and to the many others like them all over the country! That is one way how to push this issue to help weaken the GOP Neocon grassroots political resolve to vote in November:

Is She a Seminar Caller?
May 5, 2006
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: All right, Marie in Terre Haute, Indiana, you're next on the EIB Network. Hi.
CALLER: Hi. I'm a long-time listener. It's an honor to talk to you.
RUSH: Thank you very much.
CALLER: Hey, I've been listening to a bunch of talk about this whole immigration thing, and I want your opinion on something, because I'm not as interested in other opinions as I am in yours.
RUSH: Thank you.
CALLER: Let's fast forward, pretend the border is shut, penned up. Nobody is coming across except for a few.
RUSH: Yes.
CALLER: Now what do you think we should do with the illegals that are here, the ones that haven't, you know, gotten into horrible crimes? They obviously have broken the law by coming here, but that's it, that's the extent of it. What do you think we should do with them, and especially those that have American citizen children here? That's the big question I have in my circle of friends.
RUSH: Okay. All right. Marie, I have to tell you something, I love you. I'm so happy you called, but I have little tiny red flags going up that you might be a seminar caller.
CALLER: A what caller?
RUSH: Seminar caller.
CALLER: A seminar caller?
RUSH: Seminar caller. A liberal who has gone to a seminar to learn how to call --
CALLER: No, no, no, no, no. Let me tell you, definitely I am not.
RUSH: You praise the host when you start, and then basically --
CALLER: No, Rush, Rush, Rush, Rush. Really I'm not. I am so not. I have never voted for a liberal in my life. I am so Republican.
RUSH: That's part of what seminar callers say.
CALLER: No, seriously! Have mercy. I really am not. I really am a Republican.
RUSH: Seminar callers say that.
CALLER: Okay, so how do I prove to you that I'm not a seminar caller?
RUSH: You can't, and I'm not accusing you. I'm just saying red flags are up. Let me answer the question, because that's the point.
CALLER: Yes, that's the point and I am so not --
RUSH: See, the reason I also have little red flags up is because this is a pretty neat trick. You know, you are very -- if you are; if, if, if you are a seminar caller, you are very -- clever.
CALLER: I'm just a mom! (Laughing.) I really am!
RUSH: (Laughing.) That's what they say, too.
CALLER: I've never been a liberal. I am so not liberal.
RUSH: Okay. Okay. Okay. Time-out. Everything is cool. Everything is cool. Back off.
CALLER: That's about the worst thing you could call me.
RUSH: No, no, no. I tell you, when you finish this, you're going to have had one of the most pleasurable experiences you've ever had and you're going to want to do it more and more and more.
CALLER: (Laughing.) Well, back to my question.
RUSH: I'm going to answer the question. I just saw something on television, and you know, Snerdley and I have been discussing it. I'm not avoiding you here but I've got to say this before I forget it. Snerdley and I have been discussing this Porter Goss thing, and they just flashed a picture of Negroponte up there, and we've been discussing that there might be some sort of a power play going on. Negroponte is not a big fan. I'll talk more about this probably next week. But here's the answer to the question. You put things out of order. You put things 180 degrees out of phrase.
CALLER: You don't think the border should be shut first? I think it should be.
RUSH: Yes, I do, but we can't come to an agreement on that. I'm telling you that that needs to be the first thing that is discussed.
CALLER: Let's pretend it is.
RUSH: You put it out there. That's a simple answer. Nobody is talking about deporting these people.
CALLER: Well, I know nobody is talking about it. Actually they are because I hear people all the time saying we need to get rid of them.
RUSH: When I say nobody is talking about it. I mean "nobody" that is in a position to actually do it. I think it would be possible if we allotted enough money and years to it, but it's impractical, it's gotta stop here. We can't continue to address this every 20 years and say, "Okay, we'll legalize the ones that are here illegally and not do anything about the border because 20 years from now we're going to have 15 or 20 more million we've got to deal with."
CALLER: Well, that's why the border needs to shut. But, seriously, without sounding --
RUSH: I agree totally. If anybody in Washington, any candidate for any office would come out and actually propose seriously doing something about the border, then he would have a lot more credibility when he announced what his intentions were for doing with the people here who are here illegally.
CALLER: I heard your brother speaking the other day and I was impressed with what he said, and I was just wondering, you know--
RUSH: Why didn't you call him, then?
CALLER: I don't have his number! (Laughing) Frankly, I'm more interested in what you have to say, no slam on your brother.
RUSH: What did he say?
CALLER: I was struck with how compassionate he was. Okay, yes, he wants the border shut, as does everybody I know. But he was more of the opinion -- I thought, it sounded to me -- like assimilating those here, unless of course they're criminals, get rid of them. Who wants criminals? We have plenty of those on our own.
RUSH: Obviously. That's the whole point. We're not even talking about immigration here. We're talking about people that want jobs. There has to be a serious attempt with these twelve-- Using your hypothetical, we've got the border shut, and the number of illegals that succeed in getting past is a trickle and not enough to worry about. What do we do? We have to assimilate them. We have to require them to acculturate, and that's not hard to do, and we identify who they are and we let them stay and if they claim they're here because they want to become Americans we give them the chance to do that, but we don't put them at the head of the line, we don't run them ahead of people playing by the rules. But the key to it is closing the border.
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: It's going to be much easier to come up with a policy to deal with the 12 to 20, whatever, who are here now illegally, if that's it.
CALLER: Yeah.
RUSH: But if it's another 12 to 20 in 15 years, then we're not solving the problem. And that's what people instinctively know and that's what frustrates them.
CALLER: Okay. Well, I appreciate your time, and please don't think I'm a liberal.
RUSH: Okay. I just had to be honest with you. You were exhibiting some traits, but I think you have proven here that you're not a seminar caller.
CALLER: Well, thank you. I can live a happy life now. (Laughing.)
RUSH: All right.
CALLER: Have a good one.
RUSH: Thanks Marie. You, too.
