Wes Clark Endorses Jay Fawcett

Former Supreme Allied Commander Sites Service“Just the Leader Colorado Deserves”
Former Supreme Allied Commander Wesley K. Clark today endorsed the candidacy of Jay Fawcett in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District.

General Clark stated, “Jay Fawcett is just the kind of leader Colorado deserves to have in Washington, DC.  His honorable service in the United States Air Force, his work in the private sector and his life as a family man provide Jay with the experience and perspective we need on Capitol Hill in these trying times at home and abroad.  That’s why I am proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with him in this campaign.  He will be part of Colorado’s Team in Washington with my friend Senator Salazar to stand up and give people the peace of mind of knowing that government is doing its work while they are doing theirs.”

Wes' endorsement should help Jay alot.  I have good feelings about Jay and Bill Winter.  I think they both have a good chance of making it all the way.  Just my gut feel.

My nephew's new assignment after returning from Iraq is at Ft. Carson, CO.  Jay Fawcett's district.  He just transferred early this month and is crazy about the area.  Coming from the NW, really happy to see mountains again.....it's been a while for him.

There's so much to do in the Colorado Springs area. Does your nephew have any kids? My former U.S. Senate candidate Mike Miles is Assistant Superintendent of the Fountain-Ft. Carson school district, but he begins a new job in July as Superintendent of the Harrison school district, which covers about the southern third of Colorado Springs proper and southern El Paso County.

Not a bad jump for Mike -- a jump from Assistant in a smaller district to a larger district as Super.

Colorado Springs is great except for the politics. It's where James Dobson and assorted other right wingnuts hang out. But living at the base of Pike's Peak ain't too bad.

no children, Stan.  I didn't realize Colorado Springs was Dobson territory.  Ugh.  Well....I'm certain I don't have to worry about my nephew getting hooked up with that crew.  ;)

"Focus on the Family Visitor Center." It's on "Ronald Reagan Highway."

My professor had a cabin in the mountains high above Colorado Springs. After I did a language ecology survey of the linguistic situation in the Southwest (mainly Arizona) one summer, I spend a few days there writing it up with Carl. His wife Flo also was a professional linguist (and an awesome cook). It was my first professional pubication and provided the name for the book by Einar Haugen Language Ecology (I think that was it).

So when I left Santa Monica (where I directed a language school for a while), I took Judy and my two sons across country in our RV (pop-top Dodge, slept four), we made Colorado Springs our first stop after the Grand Canyon. Both places were awesome in the winter. We drove up to a mountain top and played in the snow and looked down on the valley below.

Nice memories.

And Jay and Bill will be movers and shakers!! Perfect examples of turning Red to Blue in districts long yielded to the GOP.
