Finding Issues Blogs

Wouldn't it be nice if we could tag our blog entries with what issue they cover and actually be able to search on it? I think eventually the new blog will do stuff like this for us, but I was wondering if we wanted to implement a stopgap plan to let us do this now. You've probably seen the WesScripts "guy" floating around every now and then to keep track of transcripts. (And those of us who've been working on that would love more people to participate!) Anyway, I was thinking we could do sort of the same thing with our own blogs.

We could come up with a couple of keywords and tag our blog postings with those. Then we could search on them to find all the relevent blogs.

If you want to participate, just include ISSUEKEY: keywordhere in your blog entry. Then people can search on ISSUEKEY: keyword to find all the relevent blog entries. Or, if you see someone else's blog post that should be indexed that way, you can just post a comment that says ISSUEKEY: keyword. If you want more than one keyword, you should have separate ISSUEKEY: keyword each on a different line or at least separated by some spaces.

For example, the Red States blog by Clark4Ever would be marked with the keywords Katrina and Common Good.

Some keywords to start with:

Leadership
Common good
Iraq
Katrina
Religion

Feel free to come up with new keywords as you think you need them. Search on ISSUEKEY: to see some blogs I've already posted keys on if you need some examples.

Another workaround on the blog. Sure will be nice when we don't have to figure out how to work around the lack of user friendliness....if that day ever comes.

Sure... NOW you want us to be nice! Right! Whatever!?

Now don't hit me... I am only joking ;)
