Calling all Clarkies! WesPAC is actively looking for those who would like to become volunteer coordinators in their state. If you were a volunteer coordinator during the Draft and or the Clark 2004 campaign, or if you think this is something you'd like to do, please let us know by sending an email to 50 State Project Coordinators:
Kelly Flinn kellyflinn@securingamerica.com
Cheryl Poling cheryl@securingamerica.com
John Oeffinger joeffinger@securingamerica.com
Please send your email to all three of us, with "Volunteering to be a WesPAC Coordinator" in the subject line.
We look forward to talking with you more about this, and want to thank you for everything you're doing to support General Clark and WesPAC.
Thanks,
50 State Project Coordinators
This is a timely reminder that this election will be decided in all 50 states, in everyone's hometown and neighborhood.

that Wespac already has Arkansas covered? If not, I'll volunteer.

I'll bet Kelly is about to jump at you before you change your mind. :)

For the future of America we need General Wesley Clark today!
I have tried hard to make solid contacts with
the Clark personnel in Arkansas but it is not
coming very fast at all.
I have 30 years of being a retired state Trooper and 3 years in the U.S. Army so I really think I could be of assistance but know one seems to want to respond.
Guess I will Keep Trying
Thanks for hanging in their Arky Sue we will make it.

write directly to Wes - not his staff and then wait.... he can't tip his hand on any level yet... my guess for an approach

Today I went to the local Post Office to pick up a Passport renewal form, and set my purse, prominentaly displaying my
" **** CLARK 08 for President" button on the handle, upon the counter. The postal clerk gave me the form I needed and explained the requirements for applying for renewal.
As I was leaving he pointed to the "WC" button, and said: "Wes Clark, huh? Is he gonna run again?"
I said "We hope so...are you a Clark supporter?"
"Well," he said, nodding his head approvingly "I've been following him since last time he ran. I'm a retiree."
I asked " where from?" and he replied "Ft. Riley " (near here) Then, he said "He (Clark) was my commander" I asked him where, and raising his arm high he said "up there", to which I asked: "D.C.?" "No, when he was Supreme Commander" he replied
"Oh, Kosovo!" I responded.
I told him the General has a website and if he'd like, I'd give him the website, so he passed me a post-note, on which I wrote the website. I got his name, but not rank.
I was rather "blown away".....
I had printed out the material Kelly sent me, but, of course, I didn't realize I'd need some so soon. But it all worked out o.k. Mildred
I just can't wait for the 'announcement.'
Well, yes I can, 'cause there's too much going on in my life right now, AND there's '06. Anyone wanna guess how much we/Wes collects in the first week/month after he announces?
Way to go Mildred!
Didn't that just make your day?
Just think of the contacts we could make if we all wore something that showed we were Clark supporters. It never fails to generate conversation on some level and often, that's all it takes. Wear those buttons and carry something with SA.com address around to hand out.
Hope we get more that step up to work in one of the coordinator roles--there are several levels of coordinators in each state to be filled so it won't all fall onto just one person. We will all be supporting each other.

What a glorious group of human beings all of you are! Of course, you have picked the absolute best human being as a leader. Wes Clark always says the right things at the right times and follows them up with the right deeds.
I don't get to post very much but I read the blog cover to cover (?) like a great novel. This is my daily newspaper.
I've been working hard locally with the Democratic Party, as its treasurer and have put together several fundraisers, etc. I am working presently on the state campaign for Bill Ritter for Governor and Barbara O'Riley for Lt. Governor. Barbara will be here in Delta County this weekend for a parade at the Delta County Fair. As you can tell, we are thrilled and trying hard to turn the state of Colorado blue.

Do we know each other? Have you been getting Colorado4Clark messages from me?
If not, please, please contact me. Take your pick:
sdavis8585@msn.com or Stan@Colorado4Clark.com.
Oh...for the rest of you, Bill Ritter, Colorado's next governor, is simply one of the finest gentlemen I've ever met...bar none. And since I've met the likes of Wes Clark and Mike Miles personally, that's saying something. (Don't ask me to choose among those three.)
We are blessed to have the team of Bill Ritter and Barbara O'Brien as our candidates.

If not us, WHO? If not now, WHEN?
Yes, we've met in Paonia, CO, when you were driving Mr. Mike Miles around. What great people we have surrounded ourselves with! I'll write you tomorrow later. Got to get going on tomorrow's event. I'm thinking of making a scroll out of cloth for the Constitution of the U.S.A. to roll out with the words, "PROTECTING THE CONSTITUTION."

The heart of Delta County.
I have to say that we didn't want to go to Paonia. It was out of our way on a day that started in Grand Junction, went to Montrose, back to GJ, then to Paonia and back to GJ. We could have saved about 3 hours that day by skipping Paonia.
Paonia turned out to be the highlight of the day -- two radio interviews and an audience of 45-50, about 30 more than we expected.
Paonia has one movie theater, which came as a surprise to me. Even more surprising was that it was showing "Fahrenheit 911." Then the chair of the Delta County Dems told me that any card-carrying Republican got in free, courtesy of the Delta County Dems.
Paonia is nestled in a beautiful valley in the mountains of western central Colorado.

I've been a strong Clark supporter since he polled ahead of Bush and Democratic rivals in 2003, and I'm often flabbergasted (and frustrated) that Gen. Clark never makes the "head-to-head" polls published by the established pollsters (check out PollingReport.com). The more noise we make, the more attention Gen. Clark will get in other blogs, 'real' polls, news media and ultimately in kitchen table and water cooler conversations.
The case for his candidacy makes at least as much sense now as it did in 2003-2004 (distingusihed military career, executive experience, diplomatic experience, Southern roots, high intelligence, accessibly articulate, progressive positions, 50-state appeal, etc.). Back then, his late entry and rough campaign skills were apparently his undoing. It seems to me he's learned a lot and honed his presentation since then, so I'm confident those mistakes won't be repeated.
Help get the buzz going again - please go to StrawPoll08.com daily (or at least monthly) to register your support. It's fast, easy and fun to vote - these aren't scientific polls, but they still serve as a visible, always-fresh indicator of "netroots" enthusiasm for various potential contenders. The monthly "junk" poll is particularly fun (unlimited voting - really nothing but a cheering contest, so why not add our clicks to the pile?).
(Also watch for periodic straw polls at DailyKos and MyDD, where Clark came out on top in a recent "instant runoff" straw poll.)
(I am not affiliated in any way with whoever created and maintains StrawPoll08.com, but I certainly think it's great!)

Yes, Clark usually does well in blogger-based polls. Something odd about those national polls though.
But note, the best chance for Clark in '08 is to get WesPAC-endorsed candidates elected into Congress in '06!
Please post these straw poll links regularly. I don't know how to do that. I don't know much about computers.
It is important to get Wes high on these polls. Mainstream Media could do much more in getting the word out on Wes. It's like they are trying to squash any chance he gets. We need to get Wes on top of all the polls.
Hi,
Just click on each of the links in my post, and when the page comes up just "bookmark" it in your browser (if using Internet Explorer, pick "Add to Favorites" command from the "Favorites" menu at the top of the screen. if you're using Netscape or Firefox, pick "Bookmark this page" from the "Bookmarks" menu at the top of the screen). After bookmarking you can go back and then pick the next link. You will then have all the links saved in the favorites / bookmark menu in your browser and can visit the sites any time you like.
I suspect Wes will continue to do well in web-based straw polls, since he's had strong "netroots" backing from the beginning. But rather than be complacent about it, I try to do my part to make sure he continues getting steady support. I won't worry if he doesn't rocket to the top just yet - 2008 is a ways off, and I think the political limitations of the more "hard left" heros like Feingold and (now) Al Gore will become apparent as the primaries draw nearer (I respect those guys, but I don't think America's ready for them).
In the meantime, I agree with knightridder that we should focus on helping out with the 2006 races currently under way.
By the way, thanks to everyone who's already surfed over to StrawPoll08 - Wes kicked butt in today's daily poll (with 71% of the 'vote' so far, way ahead of #2 who's at 11%), and picked up a percentage point in the monthly junk poll. Don't get too hung up on this one little straw poll site, but let's all try to keep up a respectable showing. Can't hurt!

i think wespac got a st co already for my state already but uf they need someone sign me up
For that matter, who / what organization are they representing? SecuringAmerica.com? WesPAC?
What is the structure and function of the organization (other than this blog site)?
What is a "ClarkActionTeam?" and what is a "ClarkActionTeam" event?
I have the same type of question. Yes, I know we support Wes Clark and WesPac but what are the objectives and what is the plan concept for this team? .
I have bought ads, supporting WesPAC, in the local JFK dinner program booklet and for this year's State Party convention program booklet . I pass out business cards with the message "Securing America's Future, Please Visit, www.securingamerica.com". Do we do a booth, or pass out flyers at this years convention. What would be our message, or is it brand recognition at this point?
I would like a better understanding of what is expected of coordinators as well as who and what we represent! And also what is our scope i.e. how long is our leash.

I'll try to give a brief answer to both you, Raymond, and Dave's questions.
The quick answer, Raymond, is that you're doing exactly the right things. -- getting the word out there. I've posted here often that people should don their Clark gear and show up everyplace they can. They should also pop in at candidates' offices, as a group of Clarkies if possible, and say, "I'm a Wes Clark supporter. How can I help?"
What do coordinators do? The Cliff's Notes version is that they retrieve their old Clark04 lists, gather up those people, build the list of people with new supporters, and ask them to do both what you're doing, Raymond, and what I said above.
Dave, SecuringAmerica(.com) and WesPAC are the same thing. The full name of Clark's PAC is "WesPAC -- Securing America's Future." The original URL was WesPAC2004.com. Once 2004 passed, it became SecuringAmerica.com.
As for structure, each state has a state coordinator, and usually other specialized coordinators -- for veterans, for party liaison, and maybe one or two others such as a volunteer coordinator. Some large states also have area or county coordinators.
The overall objective is to get Democrats all over the country at every level elected in 2006, waving the Clark banner.

can I wait until after November?
I am on the VMMF team (doing some work), the Troops and Vets Series (neglecting it shamefully), and running the F-D.com site and helping coordinate the Massa and FD Team blogging efforts.
If the Veterans don't have a coordinator of some sort, such as a blogging coordinator, I would be happy to volunteer.
Cheers, Noel

Keep it up.
We all devoutly hope that there'll be a job for you in Clarkdom after November.

For the future of America we need General Wesley Clark today! A born leader who has a plan for our problems in Iraq. No one wants to come out of this war as looers but if a military plan is not offered soon we will be put back in the Viet Nam situation where young Americans are being killed with no plan of action to settel the war or to stop the horrific deaths of our solders who gladly serve their country. We need a plan of military success not polictical mumbo jumbo. We need a plan for our soldiers to come home to a welcome and to the honor and success they so deservedly need. It appears that the Iraqs do not necessiarly want us in their country and will continue to place ou soldiers in harms way when they themselves are not willing to take over and deal with a government of democrach.
General Clark you are the only on with the background to bring the U. S. home with dignity and with the knowledge of how to stop the blood shed beng reigned down on our soldiers. Protect them, give them the euipment they need, back them in their actions and bring them home as soon as possible.
General Clark I am a three year Army veteran and a 30 year police veteran and I think I can be very essential to your campaign by being with you to strengthen the police support, to help you with security and to sow that a down to earth man can help put the right person in the White House and that is you General Clark. I would love to meet you so I will not be looked on a a freak, but my history and resume show that I am a solid man of action who would lay it on the line for my country and I feel the only way to save our country is for you to be Commander and Chief. I will try to put my email on this so you can see I am qualifed in many areas that I think would be of asssistance to your campaign.
I hope you really get to read this because the times I have been in contact letters sometimes seem to get thrown away and never mee the real candidte. GOD bless you and give you the strength to do what this naton needs most. Gaining the respect and fear, yes fear to some countries who are out to destroy our sacred way of life. I am a decorated U. S. Army Drill Sergeant and a 30-year-decorated police officer earning the top two State Commentation. I am proud of my background and I am a very enerjected person when it comes to better my state and our county and you can pull us out of ths mud that other countres seemed to thin we ae soft. Diplomacy with armed military presence will safe millions of lives and not just those of Americans. I want to help I want to be on the first line with your campaigh. Please take me serious.

Meanwhile, please, please consider stepping up to the plate for your state if your state doesn't already have one. There are also other important roles you can play in your state to help make WesPAC, Wes Clark, your state's Democratic candidates -- and YOU -- successful in 2006.
