ClarkCast 022 - The Security Of Our Elections, Part II
In this edition of the ClarkCast, we finish our two-part series on the importance of election security. In a roundtable format, Clark supporter MSinLA probes deeper into the current state of US elections with Dr. David Dill, Mark Crispin Miller and California State Senator Debra Bowen.

One is in the General Politics Forum and the other is in the Special Election Reform Forum. General Clark has credibility with the general public that most activists who are working on this issue have a hard time matching. The fact that these Clarkcasts are issued by WesPAC is a very powerful tool that your efforts, with the Generals support, have given all of us in our struggle to protect our Democracy.
Thanks for all that you are doing!
Was beginning to think nobody cared about November....
Much appreciated.
I'll try to get to Kos later too and do something there so it can travel about!
Saw your DU posts- very effective way to describe the podcasts. Good job, thanks so much.
This really is the bottom line, isn't it?
If we can't count on the vote's integrity, then we can't really call what we have a democracy. I like the way Rep. Brown says the system should be rated 'pass/fail' rather than a scale of 1-10. "$4 billion HAVA dollars later, the experts are saying we're in worse shape than before..."
Very, very disturbing. Glad you're coving this...hat tip.

and hats tipping to you for your PTSD coverage too.
Yeah, can you believe that they ALL gave us a relative failing grade? And yep, no improvement since HAVA the HELP America vote act.... right....
Thanks for listening. I think this one is a clear indictment of the system we have.
Edit:
Oh, and PS -- It's "Bowen", not "Brown" and I'm only correcting it because she's running for Secty of State and we NEED her to win badly!!! ;-)
Sorry about that. Yes, it's better to get the name correct.

Ok, I think I've got it now. :o) Great work on this, again...

BE THE CHANGE you wish to see in the world.
If not us, WHO? If not now, WHEN?

Thank you! You really are great at this!
I had to listen in bits and pieces, pausing, coming back and listening, pausing, etc., as company is here and I'm cooking like a darn fool. Once it quiets down and some of them leave I look forward to sitting down and listening all the way through.
Took it over to Brad Blog. So happy Tom Rinaldo took it to DU! although it's quickly sinking... So sad that not many seem to understand what a major threat this is and will only start paying attention once the damage is done... Ugh.
Once again, I have to say thank you to General Clark, the podcast crew, mr in la and everyone else on the front lines of helping us save our democracy!! Most excellent job.

The main thread on this there just passed the 5 Recommender threshold to make it onto the DU "Greatest Page", and now it has 8 votes.
Just read the main DU thread! Like all your explanations there Tom. And Jen with all the transcript links! Whatta team!!
I should probably register over there but I'm afraid I might never get off the computer--
(if I only had a dollar for all the times I've said that!) :D
But thank you as always for all you do to bring this to people's attention, and you to Tom!
I'm so excited having just heard the projects planned by Election Defense Alliance-- similar to BBV's.... (See post above) It shows me there is some good coordinating and organizing taking place now -- so we can maybe have an impact this time.
Makes me so happy to see that organizing is underway on a national level. Now we need everyone to take the time to volunteer to do one of the suggested items.
And yes-- thank you to General Clark, yet again, for allowing us this platform!!
What can I do?
In regards to Nov 7th... to help safeguard the vote.
This organization --Election Defense Alliance --(along with BlackBoxVoting.org) has put together an easy to read list of items they are working on that need volunteers. Lots of volunteers needed in November, Clarkies...
They will be covering the key races-- webcasting live ANY irregularities found, monitoring the polls, the exit polls, covering and reporting everything that's going on. Not unlike the "thousand eyes" concept in France of having citizen's eyes on all aspects of the procedure.
This link will show you around a dozen different committees and activities you can do to help cover this election. Like the BBV Citizen's Tool Kit (at my blog) this has something for everyone. Go look and sign up!

One other bit of good news, the main guy was just on AAR with Thom Hartmann and he said the right have targeted SIX different Secty of State races-- and oddly, California was NOT one of them! So maybe they think McPherson can win??
Sen. Debra Bowen for SOS

It's so exciting that so many are jumping onboard, and giving US the tools we need to be involved! F the useless Corporate Press. We're on our own, and now we have leaders showing us where to go with our energy and time.
Good link to bookmark, and post everywhere we all go. Thank you ms!

Kitty Pilgrim needs to hear these ClarkCasts. I wonder how we could make sure that she would get an e-mail with the links? Maybe if we put "great legs" in the subject line. Anyway, who can send her the links?

LOL
I'm still giggling over the 'bat-man' story!
Miss Kitty needs to hear these? I don't know, you know- I'm so close to this project and the whole voting thing that I honestly lose perspective which message is best for which level "customer".
I mean, I think Who's Counting is a good primer for an open minded first-timer being introduced to the subject to get an overall perspective and grasp. But these ClarkCasts may fall into that category too, I'm not certain. Introductory? I'm just not sure how much people have actually read, learned, and absorbed on this subject. Miss Kitty may be already beyond this information... Hmmmm.
But-- besides that -- I would say anyone could send the links to her. :-)

for all of us to do what we can to help ensure the votes wil get cast and get counted.
79 days to inform others who may not have heard-- what's going on, how to best counteract it.
Please share this ClarkCast Part 2 and Part 1 with people you know who may need to hear it, so we can widen the circle of the informed and increase our odds on November 7th.
It's so important. And so easy to do.
